Castagna
Castagna is where modern sensibility meets natural ingredients for a sensory experience that defines a new Northwest cuisine. The restaurant serves as a clean, calm, modern canvas on which to showcase an artful presentation of food; a series of tastes that elevate the senses and reinterpret local cuisine. Executive Chef Justin Woodward imagines an edible landscape where diners become part of a cycle of abundance: not only tasting, but feeling, smelling, hearing, seeing, and, ultimately, understanding the food.
Chef Woodward offers two tasting menus each night. Diners can choose between a 5 course menu or explore the 10 course Chef’s Tasting Menu. A la cart and vegetarian options are also available.
The 10 course Chef's Tasting Menu for parties of 4 or less is available until 9pm. We offer our 10 course Chef's Tasting Menu for larger parties on request.

"This is a place I would recommend everyone try at least once. It is a bit pricey so it would be more of a special occasion event for someone on a budget. The place is a bit small and the tables are too close together, but if you are there early enough they try to stagger seating so you aren't next to someone else. The wait staff was excellent and very attentive. As soon as we were done with one course they were there with the next course. It was fun to try the variety of snack items they keep serving. Food portions are pretty small. We left full, but not overly full. You won't be leaving with a doggy bag. All in all it was a very good experience and we hope to eat there again."

"The food was inventive, fun and excellent. There were some unusual items I have never had before. The thing that put me off about the experience was the prix faire menu. It was expensive considering the amount of food you received. I almost felt like I needed to go down the street for a burger afterward so I could be full."

"Overall, we really enjoyed Castagna. My only complaint was that the two top tables were very close together, making it virtually impossible to have private conversation. The food and presentation were very good, but quite expensive for the size."

"Worth visiting once, but the 10-course tasting menu was just too inconsistent from dish to dish. Some things were outstanding, like the lobster mousseline, others were bland like the black cheddar cracker (not sure why that was a course anyway). The prices will keep most away for regular visits, and the lack of a "wow" factor will likely keep me away for a second."

"The snacks were outstanding, presentation spectacular, and service was excellent. Every course was not only a delight to look at, but to eat as well. The chef even came to our table and asked how we enjoyed our meal!
Best restaurant for use of local ingredients and finding new ways to maximize the flavor combinations. This dinner could easily cost hundreds of dollars elsewhere.
Can't wait to see what's on the menu next time!"

"A perfect evening in every way. The Chef's Tasting Menu is incomparable. "Castagna ranks among my four favorite restaurants in the United States: Castagna, Le Bernardin, French Laundry and Blue Hill. I have eaten at Castagna restaurant twice (and their sister establishment, Castagna Cafe, once). I have had both the 4-course prixe fix and the 10-course chef's tasting menu. Chef Justin Woodward manipulates flavor and texture: the result is not novelty, instead it is a tranformative taste experience, as if the flavors of food are distilled into a single perfect moment: like compressing coal into a diamond, the flavors are brilliant and beautiful. The service is impeccable. This should be on every foody's bucket list."

"Wow, just wow. When we made our reservations, we requested one simple thing: we did not want the server to tell us anything about the food we were eating. We wanted to take a food journey, trusting the chef to lead us, and leaving our map at home. Chef Justin Woodward did not lead us astray.
Beginning with 4 or 5 courses of "snacks" and ending with a sensual chocolate-mandarin dessert, our meal and entire experience could not have been better. Our server took great care with us and we had so much fun. The highlights for me were some frozen seawater (I think) on the crab dish, the brown cheddar cracker, and a buttermilk meringue that was filled with some kind of truffle puree. I can't really do the food justice with words.
