"Some items were really good and original, like the chorizo dip and the duck pizza special. But then the pork tenderloin was overcooked and lacked flavor. Their version of Mac n cheese was bland. I really want to like Level but I don't like spending money when I never know if its going to be worth it. They also need to bring back their gnocchi."

"I just went here for the first time. The atmosphere and food were great, but the hostess was very frustrating. I had a reservation, but when I entered the restaurant, it took almost 5 minutes for anyone to acknowledge that I was there. (I was standing directly in front of the hostess but was ignored). The waitstaff was great."

"The Level is one of our favorite Annapolis places. Just beyond the action of historic Annapolis, but still within walking distance, the small plates menu never fails. From the duck spring rolls to the flat breads to the brussel sprouts, the food is always excellent. They have a fun drink menu too!"

"The food is all sourced locally. The mixed drinks are their own inventions and are all really fresh and good, stuff that I would never have thought of. The place can get loud because of the hardwood floors and brick walls, but its fine with me. They have small plates of food so you can have variety. The food is done right. This has been our favorite place to go to. Its more for the hipster or foodie crowd."

"We ate there at 830pm on Saturday night and it was bustling with the typical trendy crowd. Thanks to OpenTable we walked right in and received the last table available. The tuna tartare is spectacular, spicy and tender. The rest of the food was amazing as well, but the fries left a little something to be desired (but who goes there for the fries anyway). It's always pretty loud at those peak evening times (there is nothing soft in the room to dampen the voices carrying) but the food far outweighs that."

"I have enjoyed Level in the past, sitting at the bar, where you can watch the bartenders work their magic. However, this time, I had a table next to the server station, which was a parade all night of busy activity and not so appealing. The music was also louder than I was able to talk over so I felt like I was having to really work at being heard. I'd like to give it another try because the menu is so inventive, creative and fresh local produce, so that part I love, but they will have to step up and maybe put up a screen or something for a bit more privacy."

"The Tuna Tartare was out of this world fabulous and the chocolate chip banana bread pudding was delicious too! The door was open for most of our dining experience and although it let in fresh air, it was pretty chilly inside and we actually had to move our table to another part of the restaurant. "Food ranged from middling to excellent. The tuna and the scallops were both phenomenal. The risotta was delicate and also filling, while the merguez flatbread was ordinary - I would've preferred more merguez to get some of the flavor. The duck confit buns were a big disappointment - the radish and cucumber were flavorless garnishes, while the bun was bready; the duck didn't have enough flavor to carry the rest of the bland ingredients.
The server was bizarre. He was very brusque and seemed unhappy. His attitude and demeanor detracted from the experience. We didn't stay for extra drinks because we wanted to leave for a happier ambiance.
I would return and try some different things, and also hope for a happier server."

"Save your money-eat somewhere else. My $13.00 manhattan was just average and pretty small. Crab dip was nothing but paste topped with a tablespoon of crab flakes. The "new" meat and cheese platter was deposited on our table with no utensils or bread. "Bread" was an additional $4.00 dollars on top of the $12.00 platter. The night's special bison meatballs were dry, overcooked and tasteless. The wait staff was slow and clueless. Any fast food place has better tasting food than this place. Our first visit 9 months ago was much better. This place has skidded into an abyss."

"We were on holidays in Annapolis and saw the review for this restaurant in Yelp. The food was fantastic as my wife and I shared 5 dishes which were all freshly made and tasted delicious (the scallop flatbread was a standout). We also had a nice wine (a Worthy cab sauv). "Level is always a good time. We find the food to be fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. This visit we were seated upstairs, very nice. We order two small plates at a time and share them. We ended up ordering seven different items, got to taste a variety of foods, and were very pleased with our choices. Grilled calamari with crispy capers is a favorite. The lamb dish that was a take on a gyro was very tasty. Beet salad; excellent! Shrimp & grits; spicy! Eggplant; awesome! We also enjoy their risotto and since it can be a heavy dish anyway, we always order it last. No room for dessert! It does get busy (and noisy)on a Friday night, we did not have any issues with service, our sever was pleasant and patient, meal was well paced."

"The plates varied with respect to taste and quality. Grilled calamari was very good, duck comfit on steamed buns was mostly bread and tasteless. They take "small" plate very literally. Not much in terms of value."

"i had a reservation @ 7:30pm, was told my table would be ready in a few more minutes. 15 minutes later i asked again about our table as there was a 6 top in front of us that was empty since we arrived as well as two four tops with no one seated. i was told again they were waiting on one table to open up then we would be seated. @ 8:00pm the hostess came and told me they would be putting an extra seat at the end of one of the two empty four tops. by this time three other two tops had opened up as well. i explained that this was unnaceptable, i was told the other tables were for reservations. i questioned her choice of words and explained that we needed to be seated. i was seated promptly after and from there in the evening was wonderful."

"The food was incredibly fresh and innovative! Beautiful to the eye as well as to the palate. Loved the root vegetable flat bread and the french fries are a MUST(you can share with the table). Beet salad was light with perfectly cooked baby beets, the scallops had a spicy bite to them and three on the plate was just enough.
I could have just sat there and tried EVERY specialty drink! How do they make that fizz on top of the drinks? Superb bartending!!! Would go again and again and again!"

"What a place! At this establishment, brother's Chris and Andrew Fox and their staff put so much love and thought into everything that Level has to offer. The vibe of Level is hip and vibrant without being the least bit pretentious. The menu changes seasonally and there is something for everyone. The scallops are to die for and are currently served with a little kick of spicyness. Level does mostly small plates as well as flat breads of which the duck flat bread is my favorite.
Service was excellent too. I made reservations & we were seated right away and shortly into our meal the manager Jimmy stopped by to make sure everything was going well, which it was. Lastly, my mixed drink with bourbon made by Tommy was right on the money!"

"Skip the pickled vegetables but don't miss the tuna tartar. Their flatbreads are also delicious. Bison was overcooked (cooked to well done which caused it to be tough and dry, our server didn't ask for a temperature so it's hard to tell where the fault lies, kitchen vs. server). The pork spring rolls were also tasty. The food was hit or miss but the beverage menu is worth the visit. The Cinderella Sidecar with pumpkin moonshine and sugar/cinnamon/nutmeg rim...AMAZING. Bourbonapolis is also a goodie. I would return for the drink menu alone; it's very creative. Kudos to your mixologist."

"My parents came to town so we went here for dinner. The beef satay was fantastic, and everyone really enjoyed their meals. It was fun being able to get a few things for the table to share. We all had decided even before the meal was over that we'd be back. It's winter now, but I'd imagine it's also nice there when the weather's warm because they can open up the front of the restaurant completely. Found a gem! I used to live in LA and Level reminded me of some of my favorite places there with the ambiance and modern cuisine."

"I just loved your restaurant when it first opened . I haven't been for about 1 yr and then received a gift cert. my experience was not as I remember.
Things were not as perfect as they used to be. My cocktail was served in a wine glass! Very tacky. The fries were the same, the calamari was delicious but was chunky and thick not delicate as all the times before and the eggplant was not the succulent Japanese as always. Maybe these things were not available? But your standards must not slip. You are the only decent restaurant in Annapolis. The rockfish was fresh but the beans had so much black pepper. Maybe the chef that day was not the one with the delicate palate we had always been fortunate to have. It has also become more expensive."
