"From the moment we arrived, the owner, Mario Stefanini, made us feel welcome. He greeted us at the door, escorted us to the bar, and let us know our table was ready whenever we were. Once seated, we were treated to service that made us feel special, but I'm sure Mario is that way with all of his customers. The food was excellent, and despite the a full house on Saturday night, we were never made to feel rushed. From appetizer, to salads, to the many great entrees, and finally dessert, everything was tremendous. My guests loved everything about the experience, and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants to experience a great neighborhood restaurant, in the heart of the Chicago Gold Coast."

"This small restuarant is hidden away just blocks away from the chaos of Rush and Division. It is a traditional Italian reastaurant, a little more upscale than your check tablecloth type. The food was very good. We had an excellent gluten free pizza, which is always a hit and miss item at the restaurant. The lamb chops were well seasoned. The service was very attentive. A great find; look forward to returning."

"Visiting family in Gold Coast area from east coast and after a day with them, was looking for a nice cozy place for a nice dinner for my wife and I. Mario's surfaced in our Open Table search as close, within budget and casual since we didn't want to get dressed up. Good reviews encouraged us to make a reservation...we were not disappointed. Coconut shrimp was the appetizer presented with an exquisite dipping sauce. Great seafood with pasta for both of us, Salmon for me and Shrimp Scampi for my wife. Great wine selections and a little tiramisu to go wrapped up the perfect evening. Our only regret...is that we don't live in the area to enjoy this neighborhood gem more often. How jealous we our of the Gold Coast residents!"

"I was in town for the weekend with some friends, and we were looking for some real, non-chain italian food. We saw Mario's positive reviews and decided to give it a try! We're so glad we did, because we can't stop talking about the wonderful customer service, ambiance, and overall good feeling of eating at a place like Mario's. The members of Mario's team aim to please, going above and beyond for anyone who walked through the door. The importance of creating these memorable experiences to keep folks coming back cannot be valued enough, and Mario's puts an emphasis on ensuring regulars and newbie alike feel welcome."

"I went to Mario's with a group of girlfriends. None of us had ever been there. Our entire experience was phenominal. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. The food and drinks were great. The owner even stopped by to chat with us. It was perfect. Sophisticated but welcoming. Made for a great impression of Chicago to the girls from out of town :) I would recommend this to anyone!"

"We've done almost every big name restaurant over the years with mixed results. I was meeting my daughter in the city and did a big name on Friday - we randomly went to Mario's on Saturday. It was great - a fun neighborhood spot with fabulous service and great casual food. For anyone doing Second City (we did the early show) it is a great walk to Mario's and an easy walk back to the Michigan Avenue area. We will definitely go back for our casual night in Chicago. Great staff, comfortable ambiance, interesting drinks and wines by the galss....and terrific casual food."
