Salut Bar Américain is the brasserie down the block. Warm and welcoming, with an urbane wit and urban sensibility, it’s an afternoon hangout and an evening refuge. "We were here several years ago and used to come regularly, but we moved away and are just now returning to the cities. Salut has not missed a beat. Same as we fondly recall. Practiced staff that know how to serve you. Management that cares (stopped by table to check on our experience). Kitchen staff that know how to flow the items from the kitchen in a timely manner."

"We always enjoy our visits to Salut! I ordered walleye and my husband ordered halibut from the fresh fish menu. Both were fantastic! Couldn't ask for a better meal. My husband also ordered mussels as an appetizer. Salut has excellent mussels - if you like mussels! Although Salut was very busy, we were seated immediately. The service was excellent. Just the right level of attention. They have a great outdoor dining area but unfortunately it was too cold (early May!) to eat outside. Maybe next time?

"The restaurant had a dark, warm and lively ambiance. Our table was ready for us as soon as we walked in. Our Server was very busy. I came with four other friends. When we told her it was our first visit - we expected her to explain the menu. She said she would let us look at the menu and check back with us and she flitted off. She checked in several times, but did not give enough time for us to ask all our questions. So we just ordered. I ordered the Sea Scallops. I received three scallops the size of quarters, which were very cold. The scallops were not at all worth the price so as always - Caveat Emptor."

"We enjoyed a lovely mid-week meal at Salut! The bartender made a wonderful martini, the host sat us at a table of our request, our wait-person was intelligent, mannerly and easy to talk to and his side-staff was just as accommodating. We enjoyed the loveliest shrimp cocktail with the largest, firmest shrimp I've ever seen. The menu was varied and everything we ordered was well prepared and displayed to please the eye as well as the stomach. We'll become faithful patrons. Our thanks for a lovely experience."

"Overall we had a fairly pleasant visit to Salut. We were seated in one of the back booths which made the noise level tolerable -- the front gets very noisy and it's hard to converse. I think the prices are outrageous for what you get -- the food is good but not worth the price that's being asked. My biggest disappointment and complaint is that the food is very salty. I had to quit eating the French fries (which were otherwise good) because they were incredibly salty. Also, the chicken was swimming in a salty broth so I had to remove it to another plate so all that salty broth wasn't on every bite."

"The acoustics are terrible. The open ceiling bounces noise off everything. It was like being in a train station. The food was only average. Service was slow and inattentive, even though we were told it was a slow night. Server was even a bit sarcastic, which didn't work for me, even tough I tried to laugh it off. I did not feel welcome or like I fit in there. And I live in Edina. It felt more like a chain family restaurant that needed attitude to justify the price and zip code. I won't return."

"I arranged a business lunch for three in April of 2013. Excellent service and food. Noise was moderate, which was fine for business conversation. Portions are definitely on the smallish size. I ordered the Steak Frites. The hanger steak was perfectly prepared, although a very small serving and the fries were great, however the serving held many small pieces, runts. Price for the meal was on the edge of being overpriced, however when you factor in the service and quality of food I was ok with it. Beer selection is small, but with many good choices appropriate for the food. Full bar, decent wine selection
Without a doubt this is on my list of great business lunch places. I will be happy to return"

"Salut in Edina is one of our regular restaurants and we usually look forward to it. This time the pomme frites must have been from the bottom on the bag as most weren't more than 1 inch long. Neither of our glasses of wine were very good. We wondered if the restaurant was doing some cost cutting? Additionally my husband's favorite the bolognaise hasn't been available for a while the roast chicken was just ok. Overall a very disappointing dinner."

"Great food, wine and service, and loved the decor. However, very noisy and crowded. Since there is virtually no waiting area everyone crowds into the small bar and entrance, making for an especially noisy experience for tables close. Also, I was quite surprised to see so many young children, especially on a Saturday night. Still, I would return."

"Went expecting to order lunch, only to find that they were introducing a Saturday brunch menu on this day. Very limited non-egg choices. Personally, I don't associate Saturday afternoon with breakfast items. Having been to Salut many times before, we all had favorite items that we wanted to order, most of which were not on the new bunch menu. So while what we ate was good, it was our first disappointing experience at Salut, as no one got what they came for. Also, the music was ridiculously loud for 1:00 0n a Saturday afternoon.
After many good experiences at Salut, it might have been our last visit. Definitely won't go again on a weekend afternoon."

"I went alone for lunch. The food and service were fabulous. The atmosphere is pretty casual and laid back. Most menu items are a bit overpriced but the food is great. My only complaint was I was originally seated practically 'on top of' a table of 4 when there were SO many other tables available. I asked to me moved over one table so I wouldn't feel like I was dining with them, and the server accommodated that without any hassle."

"I thought the staff were nice and helpful! We were a group of 4. Two did not like there dinners and two really liked their dinner. The bluecheese burger and the steak :) very good. The walleye and the sea bass, not so much.

"Food was not nearly what it had been! Haven't been here for over a year. Soup and Burger arrived with burger bun SOAKED in spilled soup. Hamburger was marked (with doneness flag) for both Medium and Medium-Well?? One bread stick for 2 people? Onion Soup (their specialty) was obviously just beef broth plus sliced onion. Another party ordered evening special ravioli...served with 6 ravioli's, but one was HUGE and filled with a brownish liquid (clearly, a failed one). This should/would have been seen by plater."

"Even with a reservation We had to wait 15 minutes for our table. The table we were assigned was so close to two other tables that we felt as if we were dining with two other groups. It was impossible to carry on any useful conversation.
Our bill was very high for what we got. Two cups of soup, two cheeseburgers, one na beer and an ice tea. Bill was $50.00"

"I went to Salut-Edina for my birthday with a group of friends. The entire experience was incredible from start to finish. We were seated immediately and promptly met by our very knowledgable waiter. Each and every suggestion he made was fantastic. Every dish that arrived was prepared to our liking, and there were 7 of us! Staff very attentive to drink and water refills and brought more fresh bread than we could eat. And the birthday treat was generous and delectable! Would definitely recommend to anyone!"
