"Arrived 10 minutes early for my 10:30am brunch reservation since there was also a 10:15am reservation listed on Open Table. We were informed that they were not open yet and made us LEAVE and come back in 10 minutes (it was 90 degrees out). So we did and they still were not ready to seat us at 10:30am. Finally they offered to let us sit but said they could not serve us for at least 15 more minutes because the buffet was not ready. Their website had said brunch that day was a la carte, which we wanted, not buffet! When I asked about the brunch price, they gave me like 3 different prices before settling on the highest one. The entire time, the staff was extremely rude and acted like we were a major annoyance to them. We left."

"2 different tour buses pulled up and dropped all their folks off while we were there, proceeding to park directly outside the restaurant. Food was pretty good but overpriced for the quality. Not very good wine by the glass offerings."

"We were introduced to Paper Moon back in the late 1980's by friends and it soon became mine and my husband's favorite, too. While the last few years we do not find ourselves in Georgetown much, we have made the trek for special occasions - Mother's Day, my daughter's Prom Group, etc. Just this week, we dined at Paper Moon following my daughter's graduation at DAR Constution Hall. A perfect end to a perfect day. Love the open air windows - I wish I'd had the forthought to request our table of 7 to be placed in front of the windows, certainly not something to complain about. I was also pleased to see that the family of one of my daughter's friends was also dining here post graduation. This was unusual since we live in Germantown MD"

"We've had good experiences at Paper Moon before, but this was not one of them. The AC was on the fritz (if they had closed the front door, it might have helped). There was a noisy group next to us that made conversation difficult. And although the service was attentive, they never brought our appetizer -- though it was on the bill. My advice: skip Saturday nights here during tourist season."

"I went to Paper Moon because of a Living Social deal I had purchased for brunch. I had been previously for dinner while walking around Georgetown and randomly stumbled across Paper Moon. Dinner was fine but nothing to get too excited about.

But brunch made me really happy! The brunch was a buffet which generally makes me nervous (food that's supposed to be hot ends up being cold, bad service, etc.) but that didn't happen. The burners were working quite well and the food came out nice and hot :) There was a chef making omelets to order which was really nice too! If you go to the brunch and they are serving the same dishes as when I was there, definitely get some salmon, potatoes, and pasta. Delicious!!!"

"We have dined here five times in last 4 years & have never been disappointed. Our sons are students at GW & Paper Moon has become a go to favorite. Very good Italian food, good wine selection & outdoor dining option makes this a good choice! I almost forgot, it is affordable!!"

"It was Saturday night and we were looking for a casual restaurant in Georgetown. We were last minute, hence did not have many choices. My wife and I were traveling with our 6 year old, hence did not want anything too fancy. We had a craving for Italian. We ended up going to Paper Moon. Overall a good experience. A bit tacky ambiance but ultimately good pasta. If you are looking for a decent Italian, this fits the bill. Enjoy!"

"After checking online took the family to Paper Moon because they offered something for everyone especially my picky eater. After being seated & looking at the Menu's we realized that the menu online was different from the one in front of us. We asked about the pizza which was not listed but told they usually have pizza but the oven wasn't working right. Then we asked about the Lasagna that was also listed on the online menu - and the waiter said "We don't have that anymore." (at this point you would think to update the online menu). Prices also higher than online.
My son asked for cheese ravioli w/ butter and received Mushroom instead, they ran out of ravioli & substituted w/o asking us first. Not a good impression or experience..."

"I made an open table reservation and called to change the time slightly from 10:30 to 11:00. The man confirmed my new time. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty except for the manager and a couple trying to check in. He was telling them that they are closed and do not open until 11:30. They were telling him that they made an open table reservation. And he told them that open table sometimes messes up their opening times. I chimed in and said I spoke with someone on the phone yesterday and confirmed my reservation. He snapped back and told me to in a yelling, condescending tone to bear with him. I would have been fine if they told me they were running behind, but their posted hours clearly state that they open at 11."

"Strange, a simple order for a small bowl of Olives for an appetizer was given a response from the Chef, that they can't do that as they need to save the olives for the other customers dinners. Really, we were willing to pay for them and the Chef would rather insult a customer than offer a small bowl of a inexpensive garnish? Definitely not customer service friendly. It was the only special request we made. Not very friendly. Then our server disappeared half way through dinner and the hostess took over. We never even saw the waitress again who was quite friendly."

"We had a group of 11 to dine. Everything was perfect until the end of the meal when the check was presented. The waiter, no fault of his own( no one told him to split the check), brought the check to an older member of our group. She was not expecting the full tab and questioned him. He got a little snippy with her after her comment that is was not responsible for the entire tab. He could have handled it better. She was a 76 year old lady. Another member of group got it all settled, but it put a bad taste on an other wise wonderful dining experence. He, as the host of the resturuant, should have handled the situaion in a pleasant manner becasue he had been a very good server all evening."

"Food was pretty good, beer selection is pretty weak, dessert options are minimal. Calamari appetizer was just fair but main courses were better. Service was very uneven. Manager checked in twice but waiter didn't make many visits, we waited about 40 minutes between appetizer and dinner, and my husband received the wrong entree (which was relatively quickly corrected but clearly had been rung up wrong as it also showed up on the bill)."

"WONDERFUL! FANTASTIC! I have read the reviews and passed by the restaurant and wanted to try this lovely place for a few years but never got there. For a birthday outing with a dear friend, I decided to finally check it out. The swordfish was cooked to perfection and the seafood platters were just wonderful. Our waiter was wonderful with guiding us through the menu and wine list and making suggestions that were outstanding and he took very good care of us - even brought me a wonderful slice of almond cake that I could have just dove into! My friends and I have a running list of great restaurants in Washington DC and PAPER MOON is now on it. Their brunch is their next for us to try and I have already preselected my order!"

"I went to Paper Moon last Saturday with 5 other adults and 2 children. The menu was extensive but not too extensive that its overwhelming. Everyone's food was good and no complaints with service. This price is around $15 - 17 a plate so a little more afordable than other places. Overall no complaints and good experience. I would go back."

"I've been to Paper Moon many times and there has never been an issue with the service. However, I went on Saturday and the service was terrible. It was crowded because it was the first nice day in awhile, and the Cherry Blossom Festival was going on, but shouldn't the restaurant be prepared for that (since DC is a tourist destination)? We waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for our entrees, and the waiter never bothered to check on us or update us on the progress of our dinner. We had to flag him down, and then the manager, before waiting another 10-15 minutes for our food to finally arrive. All the tables around us had eaten and were done by the time we were served. The food was pretty good, or maybe that was because we were starving by then."

"The food took an hour and a half to be served, and half of the meal was wrong when it was brought to the table. The wait staff was not capable of dealing with the situation, and management didn't want to compensate us for the poor experience. Many of the portion sizes were small (e.g. pasta primavera), but the food was good when it was served correctly. Wouldn't go back just because of the poor way in which the situation was dealt with by the restaurant."

"We arrived early for our reservation and were seated immediately, after ordering our entrees however, we waited a solid 40 min for our food but no complaints! It was a Friday night and restaurant was packed. The waiter was very attentive and offered us their house garlic bread while we were waiting, I had the squash ravioli and my friend had the veal piccata and both were very tasty. I will definitely come back, perhaps on a weekday when it's probably less crowded."

"I have never felt compelled to give a completely negative review to a restaurant...but this time I will.
I have NEVER experienced such bad service in a restaurant.It took over 20 minutes to have a waiter come to the table, who took drink orders and never brought the ONLY drink requested. Then another 20 minutes to get a waitress back to take the order. We had gone down to complain to the hostess...and the manager came up to the upper level spoke to ALL the tables (who were actually experiencing the same issues) but NEVER came to see us. COMPLETELY ignored us...When the food finally came, the food was COLD.
I will NEVER recommend this restaurant to ANYONE and will NEVER return."

"The food was very good although not all meals were at the same temperature. The wine by the glass list was very poor, few choices, 4 total if I recall and very low end wines. Would have ordered a bottle as this list was good, but we couldn't cork and take the partial bottle home."

"While the food is solid, I would not agree with other reviewers that Paper Moon is fit for foodies. It is busy and energetic on the weekend which sometimes challenged the service but overall it was an okay experience. It was fine as a tourist but I would likely not choose it as a local."

"The food was outstanding the waiter not so.... I aksed for Club soda and lime he told me to my face I can drink sparkling water with my husband. Then we waited for our food. People that come in at least 10 min after us was served before us. Really disappointing and we are closely linked with a big Georgetown university group and we told everybody about the bad experience."

"I like Paper Moon. I chose it to take a big group out to a not too expensive dinner for my son's birthday. When we checked in, I alerted the host table to the fact that we were there to celebrate my son's birthday. I asked for cake, candles, singing......all promised.
So, when the waiter took coffee orders and didn't ask about dessert, I thought it was because he would bring coffee with dessert. Coffee arrived.....I signaled him, and only then realized he hadn't been told.
A sort of funny scene then played out. Which kid's birthday? Where is he sitting? What kind of cake? The waiter and the host scrambled to get the cake together. Not exactly the fate of the nation, but we came for birthday dinner and were disappointed."

"My boyfriend and I went specifically for a livingsocial promotion (one brunch entree each and two mimosas each); I was disappointed in the brunch selection. Paper Moon could benefit from a larger brunch menu with more variation. The telephone also kept ringing (it had a very loud ringer), that disrupted my brunch. Other than these two issues, we enjoyed our brunch."

"Delicious lobster ravioli and quick service! The fresh mozzarella appetizer and canoli dessert were also tasty. I had a great meal at Paper Moon on a Friday night with friends. We had a reservation but we didn't need one... The place had many empty tables for some reason... I have no complaints and I will most likely return."

"Five of us had a wonderful authentic dinner -- fried calamari that everyone loved, a ravioli that was fantastic in all forms, meat, pesto and butter, and a homemade tiramisu that was excellent. Our waiter made our evening complete with her enthusiasm and great service. We really enjoyed our meals here.It was just near our hotel(recommended by them).The service was quick,very reasonable cost.Also some of the other diners were locals and were also enjoying their meals, Everything was very good.
House wine was very good too, but very strong.
Yes, we would go back. And yes, this place gets a big

"As Tourists we trusted Open Table for a recommendation. Paper Moon is an old time Italien restaurant. The food was fine. The service was very good.I called twice that afternoon to ask for a change in time (for 12 poeple) and I was accomadated both times without hassle."
