The Fat Radish is a new restaurant in the Lower East Side from the Silkstone team inspired by seasonal, modern British cooking with an emphasis on farm-table practices and local sourcing. Like Silkstone's Catering and Events, the restaurant provides honest, fresh and healthy food to a stylish and contemporary table. The team sources the finest seasonal and heritage produce from specialist local farms and has created a communal setting that, like their food, is vibrant, approachable, and made by caring hands.

"Great dining experience. I have been here a few times and I love it. The only thing that I would complaint about is that the meals are not consistent. I ordered the cloth-bound cheddar and potato breakfast and it tasted and looked completely different each time (it was still delicious). The donuts are to die for."

"I met a friend of mine who was visiting NYC from Italy at the Fat Radish for lunch yesterday. The food was delicious and the portions were perfect. We had the lunch special which was a Cheddar Pot Cake on a bed of bacon and Brussels sprouts with a poached egg. It was delicious. The wine list is well chosen and well priced. For dessert we opted for the cheese plate with 2 glasses of Riesling. We were able to relax and never felt rushed. We left both feeling the same way and saying what a wonderful choice of restaurants. I highly recommend the Fat Radish!"

"I went for brunch and I'm not a fan of brunch food, but that says nothing about the food. I had a sandwich that was perfectly well executed, but nothing to write home about. The restaurant is decorated well and has a laid back feeling to it. I have been in there for drinks at night and it looks like a good dinner place."

"While we loved the cocktails, we weren't thrilled with our meal. We had the grilled cheese, scotch egg and the dukah for appetizers. The dukkah wasn't what we expected, didn't care for it. For our second course, we had the carrots and cauliflower. Both were good, but not incredible. For entrees, we had the monkfish curry, scallops and burger. All fine, but really not worthy of a return visit."

"In general the food is good here. Absolutely top quality ingredients make the vegi dishes here well above average and worth the few extra dollars for the modest sized portion EG: side of brussel sprouts $8. We had a party of 4. Service was very good, friendly and informative. 2 of the 4 dished were perfect. My daughters vegetable curry was a bit off, the root vegis were under cooked but the other vegis were fully cooked.
All in all good quality food and a nice place to eat when you are in China town and do now want Chinese."

"We had to wait for 30 minutes after our scheduled reservation at 10pm to be seated. The service was fine, but not exceptional in any way. The best items on the menu were the scotch eggs and the scallops. The clientele appeared to be primarily made up of young, well-off, trendy professionals, and Europeans on vacation. My guest and I both agreed that, like most things in Manhattan, Fat Radish (and their lovely bar across the street, Leadbelly) would probably be wonderful on Tuesday and Wednesday, but should be avoided on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights."

The only thing that didn't impress me.Oysters and Cauliflower were great! I had the special which was lamb leg topped with yogurt sauce with red quinoa tabouleh. It was really tender and delicious. "I love going out in the city and this place was recommended to me by a coworker. They call themselves British but I wouldn't call it that, more farm fresh, seasonal. Food was very good but nothing spectacular. Place is very small and tables are very close (but this is NYC). Ambiance was very cute, shabby chic, kind of feminine, bright but definitely a little tight. Service was ok, our waitress was good but they were way understaffed for how busy it got. Crab gratin was delish. Definitely a packed house for a Wed, make a res and be prepared to have a long meal."

"For our 9:30 reservation, we were not seated until 10pm. While one member of our party was a bit late, she was there by 9:45 and we still had to wait another 15 minutes for our table to be ready. We were offered little more than a slight - very slight - apology for the long wait. While the food was delicious and the service decent for the rest of the night, the initial lack of good service and courtesy was off-putting."

"We went for Sunday brunch and loved the decor and restaurant as a whole but was a little disappointed with my portion size. My friend ordered the burger and I order the cheese and potato cake but mine seemed like an appetizer size rather than a main. Of course I ordered dessert to fill me up but that was my diet out the window! We would have opted for the Sunday Roast for 2 but the waitress never mentioned it and it wasn't on the menu so it wasn't until we were eating that we seem it on one of the boards. That was a little disappointing too."

"The ambience is really outstanding, and this is one of the nicests places around Canal Street. The place is not huge so I would suggest going with a date or a small group of friends. Food was very good (scallops and cod both delicious), but the dinner was overall quite expensive: 1 shared appetizer, 2 entrees and 1 shared dessert came out almost $50 each... and we did not drink a lot. But I would go back for a special occasion."
