"Truffle fries were good. Fried avocado was good. The pizza was on an aweful frozen dough of some sort. The toppings were pretty good , but the crust ruined the pizza. My wife had some stacked enchiladas or something. Flavor wasn't too bad, but it looked like a pile of you know what on a plate. I will try again. I usually don't give up on the first try."

"I have been to OBL more than 5 times, and continue to give it chances because of its location and menu. the folks at the front just don't get it. On this occasion, the 3 hostesses didn't greet us. "We had a reservation". "Okay". She grabbed menus and took us the 10 paces to the first table, right in front of the door that takes the customers and servers from the inside to the outside seating area. Really? Right by the door? We saw several open tables and asked to be reseated away from the main thoroughfare. Once seated, we then waited at our table for 20 minutes without being acknowledged by anyone. Water was brought over right away, but several servers passed by our table without even a look. once we had a server, he was apologetic."

"We asked for a quiet table and were seated in a back room which was perfect. The food portion was very generous and very good. Love the margaritas!! I love that this restaurant in right in my back yard and it is so good!!!"

"I do always enjoy the food but do find the servings a bit to skimpy... even for the trendy 'fine dinning' resturants. Our server told us the steak came with veggies, and here were two of them and said the scallops were 7 oz, and there were three smallish scallops that were 4 oz at best in total. I am keenly aware of serving sizes as I am a Weight Watchers leader. Next time I will only order from the starters, as those are better values and I like the choices. I think you just need to be VERY CLEAR about asking about the entree's as have found each time I've been they are not what I expect. Even being a lifetime WW eater, I left hungry, so have a light 'fruit' snack before you go, lol."

"This was our first visit to Old Blinking Light. We were grateful that the hostess was still able to seat us, despite arriving 30 minutes late for our reservation due to bad traffic. The staff was friendly and our meals arrived quickly. Looked like most of the guests were enjoying mixed drinks, so their bar menu must be good. Husband ordered the beef rolled enchiladas and I ordered fish tacos. Both were quite good, but didn't knock our socks off. We ordered a lemon bundt cake to go for dessert, and it was heavenly. Overall, good value. As far as atmosphere, there were some creative elements to the interior design, but like so many restaurants these days, no investment is made in reducing noise. Hard to hear each other from two feet away."

"I thought it was highly overpriced, too loud, and our table seats were extremely uncomfortable--hard wood, small, and no arm rests. The table was small too. For the prices (dinner for four with a few glasses of wine and two appetizers--$186 + $35 tip), I'd expect more comfortable, not-so-loud surroundings. However, our server, Tyson, was excellent. He was very attentive, friendly and competent."

"I have been here once before and remembered how great the food was as well as the ambiance. We sat in a private room which was nice because it cut out a good portion of noise from the main dining room. However, both times I was here the service has not been great. I find the waitresses to be cold and not very friendly, you can tell they are there only to make the money, not to leave a good lasting impression on guests. The service for my recent trip here was the worst, our waitress was extremely rude and when we asked to split our bill we had to have her redo it because she mixed everyone's order up. When she came out with the new bills, we noticed an18% gratuity had been added and did not return change to others at my table."

"We would have enjoyed it more if were not expecting something different. The pictures made it look like it was a romantic, upscale restaurant. I guess we should have done more research. It was more like an upscale brewery. Very loud and vibrant. The food was good though I wasn't impressed with the flavorless, burnt bread that came with the soup. We were surprised that we weren't given any bread to snack on while we were waiting for our food. The scallops were good but the salsa was so strong that I couldn't really taste the scallops. My husband did enjoy his ribs though and the mashed potatoes were wonderful."

"I consider this the best upscale restaurant in Highlands Ranch. Service is good, the decor is great and the they have some interesting menu items. I consider the Buffalo Meat loaf to be exceptional. Also, great hamburgers and salads. I eat there at least once a month.
Some potential down sides to some maybe the limited menu and its New Mexico themed items."

My major concern is that they advertise as being appropriate for families/children, but the bar TV, which is visible from most of the dining area, was showing a particularly gruesome episode of CSI (repeatedly showing a bloody woman's corpse). We didn't have our young kids with us, but I am saddened that the staff at this restaurant (and perhaps society in general) is so desensitized to violence and adult content that not one of them thought to change channels. This was Saturday at 7pm, so not particularly late night, either. Prime time TV is definitely NOT always appropriate for all audiences."

"This was my first time to The Old Blinking Light. The food was great. My Aunt even said that it was the best fish and chips that she ever had. She especially loved the tarter sauce. I had the Kings Casserole (layered cheese enchiladas) and it was very good. We came from Parker and will definitely be back. Great job Old Blinking Light!"

"We were in for a Friday nite dinner, had reservations for 7:30 and the restuarant seated us early, that was nice. The noise level wasn't very loud and we were able to carry out conversation without having to yell. The food was very good and displayed very nicely. "I chose a couple of new restaurants for 5280 week. The first choice was Indulge French Bistro which was a total disappointment. I had the Coq Au Vin, and it was the worst I have ever had. Not sure if you should have pasta in this dish, which they did, but it was terrible. My wife's Salmon was not much better. The next choice was Old Blinking Light and this was more than expected. The food was very good. They had a 4 course menu, the appetizer was shared, but the rest of the options were diverse and the servings ample. I will absolutely return."

"This was an impromptu visit since Joe & I were already in the south side. Had the 5280 dinner. Started w/ Shrimp - excellent but not enough. Salad was nice size and very tasty; Butternut Sq soup was very good and plenty of it. Main course was a pork w/ Achiote sauce and it was pretty good but I was full by this time so the meal went home w me. Dessert was amazing; Bananas, ice cream, chocolate, caramel, walnuts, banana chips, whipped cream, and a black cherry, and this thing was huge!!!"

"Came here for Restaurant Week. It was a great find: casual but excellent atmosphere, service exceptional. Several waiters/waitresses came by asking if we needed anything without being intrusive. Food was very good (steak was perfectly cooked, fish very tasty and sides well prepared). Lots of work went into the culninary presentations. Will definitely return, especially when it gets warmer and can sit outside."

"We had never been to OBL before but we are anxious to go back. We had a wonderful experience when we tried it during Denver Restaurant Week. Everyone from the hostess to wait staff was extremely helpful and nice. We loved the food with the southwestern flair. This restaurant will most likely become one of our favorites!"

"Went for Restaurant Week. I had the NY strip, which was okay, a little bland. But I loved the spicy shrimp appy and the posole! Also loved The Works for desert. We were seated in the back room of the restaurant which is a little weird for setup...seems like the closet. Ambiance is much better in the main dining area."

"Went for Restaurant Week after seeing what they were offering and being from New Mexico I was excited but also hesitant. There are many places who claim to have such food. Hands down, will be back as much as I can. The Restaurant Week four-course meal was absolutely delectable and dead on. We started off with the Shrimp, very good!, then I had the posole with red chili, very, very good!, then the Mahi Mahi and New York, the Mahi Mahi was one of the BEST concoctions I've ever had!! It had so many veggies with quinoa and the portions were plentiful. Surprisingly we couldn't even finish the entrees, let alone the dessert. Oh yes, as if it can get any better the Jalapeno Margarita is to die for!!! BEST margarita, maybe even drink I've ever had!"

"We had to wait for our table, but they were mostly cordial about it, just acted like it was going to be a few minutes, but was much longer. It was taking so long that we finally sat down by the bar and ordered drinks. The guys got their beers but the women never got their margaritas, and when we were finally seated at our table, our dinner server tried to find out what happened, and had to start the order over, because apparently the bar server just plain forgot. Once we were seated in the dining area, the service was much better. The food was very good."

"Had RW "5280" menu. The butternut squash bisque was delicious and the posole was flavorful, yummy and the posole corns were done just right. The salmon was chili rubbed, served with a southwestern twist. Sides were decent. We chose OBL mudpie for dessert - fabulous.
The happy hour bar menu looked appetizing & drink specials are a real steal! We don't have many New Mexican cuisine opportunities in Denver, let alone a traditional spot like OBL."

"Our party of four had a wonderful time on Saturday night - the food was great! Two of us had the mahi mahi and two of us had the steak. Both meals were delicious and were accompanied by wonderful sides. Our server, Jared, was great - very attentive, knowledgeable and had a sense of humor! The ambiance is comfortable - if I could, the one thing that I would change would be the volume - a little too loud for conversation - but overall a very pleasant experience! We will go back!"
