Al Di La is a neighborhood restaurant serving simple, authentic Northern Italian cuisine. At Al Di La we strive to create a seasonally-inspired menu comprised of fresh, mainly local ingredients. We are an owner-operated establishment serving both lunch and dinner.

"Food and service were very good. My daughter in law got risotto with scallops and had 2 small scallops on the plate. This should be an embarresment to the restaurant. They should just leave them off. The asparagus risotto, itself was very good restaurant noise level was so loud, none of us could hear the specials from the waiter. Overall we were in a very up mood and really didn't mind the minuses. Quit calling it risotto with scallops though. That was pretty ridiculous. GEH"

"We have eaten here dozens of times. A fairly loud place but the food is very good. Mostly locals eat here, and you are bound to see someone you know. The salads & pastas are excellent. The secondi are ok, and we tend to just eat the primi dishes after a nice fresh salad."

"My girlfriend Kristen and I dined at Al Di La on Thursday night, and it was wonderful! Everything we ordered was fantastic. She had the beet salad, which was one of the better beet salads I have ever tried and I'm not a beet fan. She also had the risotto with sea scallops which in her words was the perfect dish! Our server LeighAnn recommended a great wine and was very attentive and helpful with out being overbearing. The duck confit and bolognese where spectacular as well. Great place for a date, we loved it and will definitely be back!"

"It was okay...we had the tomato soup it was very good, my friend had the tuna and she said that it was good, at first she did not think that she liked it but she kept eating and decided that she liked it after all. I had the pasta with meat sauce, could have been warmer. We were surprise that the restaurant was not in downtown Charleston, there was valet parking which was nice. It looked like a neighborhood restaurant, there were young families with their children there."

"We had friends in town who wanted to meet for dinner so we suggested Al di La as an alternative to driving into downtown Charleston. They said it reminded them of so many restaurants in New Jersey and New York, and they really loved it. The food was fantastic, our server was very attentive, it was just a very nice evening."

"My dinner of Tile Fish had about 3 oz of fish and arrived ice cold. The appetizers--Mussels, beef carpaccio, and lamb chop were wonderful as were the pork chop, pan fried veal and pesce de mar.
My main complaint was the long delay between ordering and dinner being served--well over an hour and a half. Given all the fabulous food in Charleston, Al Di La does not merit a return visit due to cold meal and slow service.
Also the restaurant is so noisy that you have to shout to have a conversation."

"First,, the bruschetta appetizer is absolutely fantabulous!! The little salad that comes with it is so delicious! The first time I got the asparagus risotto with scallops and that dish was an excellent choice! BF got the veal but thought the pork chop was SO much better - although the sides - which included mashed potatoes were to die for! This second time, I got the braised eggplant and was a little disappointed. The roasted tomatoes were mouth watering but the eggplant itself was bland and rubbery. BF got the triggerfish special and raved!! The ricotta cheesecake is SO heavenly!! Service was a little lacking with us not getting bread until we asked three times but, overall, another great experience!"

"My fiancé and I went there for Valentine's Day and it was a fantastic meal! We split the scallops appetizer special (to DIE for) and had one of the best italian salads we have ever had at a restaurant! I also got the mussels and he got the scallops and risotto. It was a crowded evening, however our service was wonderful. Had a great time and will definitely return!"

"The place seemed pretty packed for a Tuesday, and the wait staff performed admirably. The food was indeed amazing. I ordinarily avoid gnocchi because so many times it's been a mass of rubbery pellets. This perfectly pillowy, cloud-like ricotta gnocchi REDEFINED the dish for me. Phenomenal. The skin on the duck confit was delightfully audibly crunchy, and the veggies underneath were buttery and cozy. The Meyer lemon gelato sang; Meyers lemons are divine. The only qualm I can come up with is that my first glass of wine had turned, but the waiter immediately took it back and brought a fresh one."

"Such a great experience--the hostess was friendly and seated us right away. Our server was very energetic and accommodating to our needs. And the food was absolutely amazing. The bread they bring to the table is delicious, but we also had the mussels. For entrees, we got the Frutti di Mare and the pork chop. The seafood was very good, but the pork chop was outstanding!
