"We had a great time at Monkeypod. The bar is great - we decided to have a cocktail before we sat down for dinner. We are not really into sweet drinks, but our server said the Mai Tai was not to be missed. It was AMAZING - with lilikoi foam. The dinner menu and wine lists were wonderful, - everything was delicious - the poke tacos, fish, burgers, dry mein... (if you are not a vegetarian ask for it with the pork!) were all fabulous. We loved this place and were only disappointed that we did not have time to dine there again during our stay in Maui."

"We've always had a great meal here. The fish tacos and truffle fries are stand-outs but we always enjoy everything we order. The service has always been great, too. This time was no exception relative to the server's knowledge and timing, but the shine was taken off a bit by her incessantly calling us my darlings, loves, etc. - it became very annoying. Other than that, Monkeypod remains a local favorite for us and we highly recommend it."

"It is difficult to find outdoor dining with a quiet ambiance, excellent views, epic staff and outstanding gourmet food. It is on the pricer side, but worth every penny! I recommend trying some of their specialized cocktails, they are delicious! Top on the pupu list is the Pumpkin Ravioli...it is a must for every visit! I will be back...and soon! Top on the pizza list is the lobster. After a couple of visits to Italy I find difficulty in ordering pizza anywhere that will compare to that in Italy...try it here, it is amazing!"

"Despite being in a strip mall-like area of Waikiki Monkeypod is a great restaurant and always seems to have a wait = popular. I was seated at my reservation time which is appreciated. Inside the music was a bit too loud for my taste so I was grateful to be outside. The fish and chips is always a good choice because the fish they use is better than your average fish!"

"The food was good. The Banana Cream pie was bland. The live music is too loud; so much so that we really can't enjoy talking with friends. The musician you had there that night, was not good (sorry). A lower toned instrutmental would be better (of hawaiian tones) would be the ideal.
We have been here twice now and brough family this time. You could just get a really good Bose type system and call it a day.

"Monkeypod was my husband and my favorite restaurant on our recent trip to Wailea. Everything was spot on, but the food is really what set it apart. Before we even got there we checked out the menu and knew it was going to be hard to decide. The menu is pretty diverse and hits a lot of different price points with pizza, fish and chips on the low end and then more gourmet fish dishes on the higher end, which is really nice. The ambiance at Monkeypod is really fun and casual, while we were there they had live music. Our waiter (Kevin, I believe) was great - he was professional, had great recommendations. The meal we had was absolutely the best of our trip. I had the mac crusted fish special and my husband had the ahi. Both were outstanding!"

"The food was OK, but unless you were having a burger or a cheese pizza, I thought all the menu items at Monkeypod were overpriced, especially considering the location (in a strip mall not close to the beach). Luckily we were seated on the outdoor patio, where the temperature and noise level were reasonable... inside the music was way too loud and the air conditioning would have frozen me out. Unfortunately, the patio was right next to the entrance stairway, so there were constantly people walking back and forth just a few steps away, and that took away from what might have been a more pleasant ambiance."

"We enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere of Monkeypod. However the evening was basically ruined by the circa 1970's horrible Holiday Inn style one man "lounge" singer who was the entertainment the night we were there (April 11). Our original plan to have an after-dinner drink at the bar was changed as we couldn't wait to leave to get away from this too loud and completely terrible "entertainer." Monkeypod would do themselves a favor to not employ this guy in the future!"

"I had been wanting to try Monkeypod since our last trip to Maui. Unfortunately, the service was awful. We had a party of five - two in our group were served first. About ten minutes later they brought the third dinner out (child's) - which was wrong. The remaining two in our party waited a good twenty + minutes after that to even get their meals at all, the side dishes forgotten. While the food was good - it was not the experience we were hoping for. The manager was kind to apologize, but we won't be going back - there are too many great restaurants here."

"We were disappointed with our dining experience. First the volume of the music was way too loud. To talk with someone you almost have to shout across the table. Secondly there was a smokey atmosphere inside the restaurant which we found to be a little unpleasant. Thirdly our group ordered 2 burgers and 2 pizzas. All four items were oversalted.
There are some outdoor tables available for those who do not wish to dine indoors. We recommend them over the indoor tables."

"Another great meal at the monkey pod. Service (our server was Christie) was excellent. Food was perfect and drinks were great. My daughter's birthday was the day of our meal, and they brought her gelato with a candle. Awesome. We will definitely be back again."

"We were seated outside with our 8PM reservation which was a much quieter option. We started out with the truffle fries which were a great choice that the kids loved. Both our fish options were tasty especially the macadamia crusted Mahi Mahi. While we had wine, the beer options were a diverse option as well. It's close to the Wailea resorts, just off the 31 South. I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone as a fairly priced, well prepared meal."
