The Henley Park Hotel welcomes you to the The Tavern at the Henley Park( Formerly known as Coeur De Lion), a favorite among the DC locals. This restaurant is adorned with a stunning skylight atrium, ornate chandeliers, and a natural brick face. Our Chef offers a diverse New American menu featuring the freshest regional ingredients. For a less formal atmosphere we offer a light Small Plates menu in the Blue Bar. We also offer a Formal and Royal Tea, served in our beautiful Wilkes Room by the fireplace, or, in any of our luxurious private suites.
"This restaurant is a gem. The elegant yet relaxed atmosphere was a nice surprise. Our waiter, Jamal, was outstanding. He was attentive and intuitive without being intrusive. We will definitely come back to the Tavern we we return to DC. The scallops and sea bass were cooked to perfection. The crusty, home made bread was a delightful way to start our dining experience."

"This hotel is quirky, but fit our needs well. Our room was on the street side and a new high rise is being built across the street. Oddly enough we were not disturbed by the noise. The room was sufficient. The bed was very comfortable and the shower water pressure was great. The restaurant turned out to be much better that we thought. Don't bother ordering room service as there are only two items; a turkey sandwich and a chicken caesar salad. We ordered one of each at about 10:30 p.m. They brought up our order and told us they only had the salad. No phone call to give us the opportunity to order another salad. Overall I think this hotel worked out well for us. Within walking distance to many sights."

"We specifically chose the Henley for its Afternoon Tea menu. It was a special occasion, and the Tavern definitely did not disappoint. Half of our party was quite late, but the other half was not made to feel awkward or anxious. There were multiple events taking place in the hotel that day (including one in the Tavern), but we were provided with seating in a sunny, more private/intimate area away from the noise. Our servers were attentive without hovering and the tea service itself was divine. I've already recommended it to a friend seeking a location for a Mother's Day outing and would certainly go again."

"I would not recommend the Tavern for afternoon tea. First they tried to seat us at a table near the lobby instead of the entire empty dining room. We felt like we were in the lobby and should be packing our bags. Our tea came out and when I go to afternoon tea--I do not expect to be given tea in teabags, but real tea. There was only one type of sandwich. The cake and chocolates were only so so. Overall the food was not great. The service was not great either--I had to get up and ask for our check, as our waitress/waitor had not been back to check on us for awhile. Overall the dining area is very outdated. I would not recommend this place at all for afternoon tea service."

"A decent hotel restaurant that provides a nice setting for lunch. The food is competent but not particularly memorable. I had a salmon and scallop dish; both were well prepared and not overcooked but the seasoning and accompaniments were bland. It is quiet enough for conversation."

"Worst experience in 15 years of visiting this restaurant. The change to Tavern escapes me; the menu is comparable to before. My wife ordered beef tenderloin, rare; it came well done. The waiter said "the kitchen is backed up," but there were only 3 other tables with diners in the restaurant, and the hotel itself was not busy. All 3 of those tables paid their bills at the bar after waiting too long for the bill to be brought to them. My wife then asked if the carrot cake would be fresh, and the waiter said "Yes, it is baked daily in their kitchen." The cake was OK, but we do not believe they bake it fresh every day on the premises. The food was uneven and the waiter was distracted, inattentive, and prone to just make stuff up!"

"went to have breakfast with customer, the place is very nice and the breakfast was decent, the only problem was the service. Service was good, but obviosly it was understaffed. Took long time to get the food and staff's attention."

"Our daughter had her wedding reception at the Henley in 1990 and we continue to come back for lunch and dinner when friends come into town. We just enjoy being there. Our guest for lunch liked it so much, he said he would choose to stay at the hotel the next time he is in town."

"The most romantic restuarant I have ever been to. My husband found it via searching for romantic restaurants in D.C. and this surpasses our expectations. Jamaal is an elegant waiter. It was wonderful to go to a restaurant that one didn't have to talk or shout to be heard which does happen in other supposedly romantic restaurants. Food and service are outstanding. Wine and "adult beverages" are too pricey."

"The Tavern at Henley Park is very nice space. The service and setting is great. We went for lunch and the menu choices were good. The chicken pot pie and Caesar salad was delicious. Avoid the fish and chips -- both very greasy."

"Food was mediocre at best. Prime rib was tough and chewy. Prices are decent but I didn't feel that I got the value for my money. Service was good during the meal then I had to chase down the waiter after waiting more than 20 minutes for the check when we were ready to go. Definitely would not recommend this restaurant to anyone."

"A nice spot for a romantic dinner. A quiet, cozy spot in an old, historic hotel. The good was good, but not great. The service was the same. Go more for the ambience."

"Booked The Tavern for a business dinner and it was the right call. Food and wine were great and best of all the atmosphere was conducive to discussion. Will come again."

"The Tavern at the Henley Park is one of my favorite places for dinner. Although it is never very busy, the food and service are outstanding. I recently took a group of colleagues there for dinner during Restaurant week for the Prix Fixe menu. Everyone raved about the salmon and porkchop selections, the butternut squash soup and the bread pudding and sorbet desserts we selected. In the past I have eaten a light dinner of the baby spinich and goat cheese salad with either salmon or crabcake added. Jamal is my favorite waiter--his service is attentive but not intrusive and he is knowledgable about the food and the hotel. I would recommend The Tavern at the Henley Park for anyone wanting a quiet location with great food and service."

"Reserved a table for my mom's 50th birthday and was extremely disappointed. The ambiance was great, beautiful cozy room. There was only one other table, yet staff did not come out for a good 15 minutes after we were seated with the menus, even though I had reserved for the afternoon tea. When they brought out pots of tea, we had to wait for the invisible staff to request CUPS. Even drinking slowly, the food tray didn't come out until half the pot was gone. The scones were great, crumbly, but the sandwiches were dry. We were cheated on petit fours - they brought out as much as fit on the plate, NOT one of each for each person as advertised. The service was atrocious, the food was so-so for $25 each. Would NOT recommend."
