Discovering the experience of dining in a place such as Cannes or Nice was never easier than now with the opening of the French Bistro and Raw Bar, Avenue. The only difference between dining at Avenue and dining along the Côte d'Azur, is that your gaze lands on waves on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Avenue is located along our side of the pond, on our own eastern shores in Long Branch, New Jersey. This gleaming new restaurant is designed by the internationally renowned architect David Collins, and the collaboration is nothing short of amazing.

"Went during happy hour asked for my martini in a big glass over ice bartender said he could not do that. The bartenders were not overly friendly at all. They all make their drinks the same. The waiter sort of had that same vibe and told us they were very strict on rules. This was sort of entertaining for us. The food was outstanding and strict rules made us laugh. So we would go back again for sure."

"We took our son and his girlfriend to Avenue for a birthday celebration and had a very nice time. The food was done perfectly, we ate early and three of us had the prix fix, which has very generous portions. The three courses left us full and satisfied with great flavors. We sat against the doors to the outside seating area and took in the wonderful view of the ocean along with the calming interior decorations of Avenue transport you to a soothing place. I recommend anyone in the Long Branch area giving Avenue a try, you won't be disappointed. Our waitress was Anastasia, same as the first time we were there and she did a great job."

"When I am spending over $100 a person for dinner I do not expect unsupervised children jumping and shouting in the diningroom next to me. We did eat early 6:45 pm on a friday, perhaps later next time."

"We were escorted to our table upon arrival and our courteous and efficient waiter, Davis, took excellent care of us from start to finish. The Spring pea soup was perfectly flavored and the coconut espuma/foam was tasty and fun. The salt-encrusted branzino was enjoyed (except for the occasional bone) by my husband and son. I had Duck, Duck, Duck...yum, yum, yum! We shared three extraordinary desserts: chocolate and pistachio crepe suzettes, creme brûlée and profiteroles."

"We have dined here many times since our daughter has started attending college in the area. While the ambiance is beautiful the food is okay at best. The cocktails are priced as if it were Manhattan or Miami. It's not, it's Long Branch. Although they want to be an upscale hip establishment they really need to deliver outstanding service and food to accomplish this. It comes up short. Disappointing."

"Our waiter was so soft spoken that we couldn't hear a word he was saying. He twice he come over to check on us but as soon as he made eye contact with me from several feet away he seemed to take that as "we're good" and immediately turned around without actually approaching us. Truthfully, he just seemed too shy to be a waiter at an upscale restaurant were you're suppose to really feel like you're being "taken care of". But the service was still prompt and accurate and everything was DELICIOUS, and the view and ambiance was stunning so we'll be back! Get the chocolate custard for dessert, by the way!"

"Everything was amazing except our table was very close to other customers. It felt like we were all squished next to each other just so they could feed more guests at a time. For the amount of money we spent I would hope we would have a little more privacy, but I understand it was on a busy weekend. We asked to be moved to a different location when we were first brought to our table (we were literally spaced 3-4 inches from other guest's table, and they had baby) - the second spot was better though we were still very close to other customers. The food was brought out kind of quickly, once again feeling rushed. Overall the service and staff was amazing, the food tasted great - we had a nice dinner but not sure how I feel about the seating."

"This is my new favorite restaurant down the Jersey Shore. It's so beautiful, the many windows that allow you glimpses of the ocean, even if you are not in direct ocean view seating...and of course the food! It's well prepared, with a lovely presentation. This is my second visit, bringing along diserning foodies and they all loved it. The trout was excelent, along with my "Fruits de Mer" appy. Fhres oysters , mussels and clams, simply marvelous! We are enjoying it while we can because we know,come summer, it will be hard to score a table."

"The $30 fixed priced menu selections were fine for everyones dietary needs. Both choices of bread were equally delicious, especiially the dark multigrain.
I enjoyed the beet and gorganzola salad as well as the trout almondine. The fish was light and cooked perfectly. The other entree, braised ribs with root vegetables was savory. All the appetizers and entrees were presented nicely. My dessert, the chocolate pot de creme, the best dessert that was ordered, was delicious and not overly sweet. I tried the profiteroles which were just ok, kind of run of the mill. The sorbet with fresh fruit was average as well. A nice meal with an ocean view, what could more could you ask for."

"The food was good, however we had to ask for anothe waiter as ours had an "attitude". As I do in most resturants and asked if we could get some steamed clams since there was a raw offering. We were told not only no, but in the waiters words "if you asked me that question 15 more times, the answer still would be no. That was not acceptable and we were there to celebrate and anniversary. I also asked for a water view table in my open table request which was not granted."

"I met friends from NY for their first visit to Avenue for Sunday lunch. We hadn't seen each other in a while and were looking for a quiet table along with a great view. Avenue exceeded their expectations. My friend said his lamb sandwich was the best he ever had and his wife enjoyed her chicken paillard with salad. I loved my grilled chicken club sandwich again. Our waiter, Dave, perceived that we wanted to relax and catch up, and he was very accommodating. All in all, I was glad that I chose Avenue as our meeting place - great food, great view, great service."

Food was amazing and beautifully prepared.,, Our only miss to not make it perfect was the grilled octopus. It was tough. But my scallops and oyster dinner was superb and my friend raved about her lobster rissoto. Dessert..oh yes we did! Crepe suzette ...chocolate and pistachio.. yum! And my friend had.a smore! Incredible! Would go back for sure, its an ocasion place but worth every cent!"

"This was my third time at Avenue. My wife and I enjoy the warmth of the main room, especially with the beautiful fireplace in operation. The wine list is limited, but more than adequate for us. I had the special, short ribs over mashed celery root and vegetables. My wife had the trout. We left room for dessert, which was profiteroles and a creme brulee. A very enjoyable evening."

"Terrible Hamburger and the fries that were served were horrendous and were basically crumbs and little pieces of fries. They should be ashamed of themselves to charge $17 and serve that to a customer. I even filled out a comment card and nobody ever contacted me. So much for customer service/satisfaction."

"We had a beautiful and romantic evening at Avenue this weekend. At the bar we sipped delicious expresso martinis as we watched the snow fall outside. (There are lights on the back of the restaurant along the ocean which enable you to see the snow coming down.) The bartenders are very friendly and efficient. We sat in a horseshoe shaped booth for dinner that overlooked the dining room and the large lit fireplace. The lighting in Avenue is very soft and warm. The waitstaff is wonderful. Our dinners were so enjoyable (salmon and trout). This place hits all the high marks everytime we go."
