Located in a renovated warehouse, Floataway Café transformed the space into a contemporary dining experience. Chefs/Owners Anne Quatrano and Clifford Harrison have created a local organic, produce-driven menu with daily menu changes that reflect seasonal influences. Pale blues are offset by creamy wood panels and natural lighting, while a courtyard area is transformed into a romantic outdoor café with the night sky forming a starry canopy.
"Excellent food, as always. The crab fritter was delicious and the pastas were exceptional, especially the rabbit orecchiette (probably one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had). Sticky toffee pudding for dessert was a fantastic finish (and we are usually dessert people). Only critique is that the entree service felt rushed - we hadn't finished our appetizers yet when they were brought out. This seems to be a recurring trend at Floataway (probably the 3rd time this has happened to us there) but otherwise the service is great."

"My fiance and I went here after hearing great reviews, especially since it's a part of the Star Provisions family. The setting for the restaurant is very nice and we had a great waitress. The disappointment, however, came with the food. I had ordered the Hanger Steak, and mine came out prepared just fine, but nothing special. The real problem was with my fiance's meal. He ordered the Pork dish, and it came out unseasoned, on top of half-cooked spring onions that were also unseasoned and difficult to eat. He had to send it back because it was so awful. He ordered the Hanger Steak as a replacement, and it came out rare. For such a reputable (and expensive) restaurant, these kind of mistakes should never happen. We will not be back."

"The overall quality of the food was excellent. Only problem was the portion size. The hanger steak and pom frites were generous while the ravioli was more like an appetizer portion. Too few vegetables and ravioli. Also, it would be nice to have vegan selections on the menu."

"Another excellent meal at Floataway. The patio is one of the most beautiful dining areas in Atlanta. For appetizers, the crab fritter is a must. Our two pasta dishes were excellent too, but the standout was the orecchiette with rabbit ragu. It was absolutely perfect. The sticky toffee pudding is well worth it as well (and we're not even dessert people). The wine list is small, but with lots of variety and is VERY reasonably priced. Service was excellent - only complaint is that we would have liked more time between our courses. We hadn't yet finished our appetizers when they brought out the entrees."

"My Boss and I started the evening meal with the Gulf Blue Crab Fritter with white bean salad. By far, one of the best fritters I have had. All crab, perfectly cooked and crispy, and the salad had a citrus vinaigrette that made the dish light and delicious. For our entree, my boss selected the Wood Grilled Niman Ranch pork porterhouse. Perfect selection if you are very hungry and enjoy pork. I chose a more adventurous route with Black Calamaretti, Georgia white shrimp, and young squid. The pasta had a saltiness to it that was well balanced by perfectly cooked squid and shrimp. A very delicious dish that was worth trying. If you're looking for good food, and a quaint and quiet environment, then the Floataway Cafe is a great choice."

"As usual Floataway Cafe did a great job. Whether you have a big dinner party looking for small plates, great meals and great wine or looking for a quiet dinner this restaurant is great. I do recommend choosing off peak nights for quiet dinners as with any other great 'well known secret' Atlanta restaurant."

"The steak was very good and done right, but the fries that came with it were a 10 of 10. if you rarely eat fried stuff save it for these. Veal meatballs are wonderful. Wonderfully spiced. Brussel sprouts a bit underdone."

"The cured swordfish and the beef carpaccio were delicious. Both main courses were very good also, although the pork chop was huge. We did not take dessert. The wine list is moderately priced."

"This was our first time and we came with high hopes. My dinner companion's appitizer and entree were very good. My appitizer was plain and my entree inedible. We let the server know who brought over a manager. The manager did offer to bring something else, but the suggestions she made were not substantial (like a side salad in place of my entree when my entree came with a nice pile of greens). After that, I really wasn't in the mood to order again as everyone else had finished. Had they taken my entree of the bill as a gesture of good faith, we would have been willing to give them another try, but as they did not, we won't be back."

"The food was very good, especially the octopus and duck sausage appetizer. The service was, however, atrocious. Getting our servers attention was very difficult. We were brought the wrong wine. Worse still - when we got the bill it contained two items that we neither ordered nor ate. The manager did come and personally apologize, comping the two glasses of prosecco that we started our meal with. Still, one expects much better from a restaurant of this quality and reputation."

"I was not impressed with Floataway Cafe. Although my crab fritter appetizer was excellent, the entrees were completely forgettable and, in fact, left an odd aftertaste in both mine and my girlfriend's mouth. However, being in a semi-wooden area in the middle of the city is a pleasant treat, and the restaurant atmosphere itself was fun and trendy. Overall, not a good fit for foodies."

"Floataway Cafe's food is a gourmet's delight. It provides very fine food in a non-stuffy environment. The service is attentive and many of the tables are so private that one can carry on a true, adult conversation. The appetizers are especially appealing, but my trout was also amazing. Although the name of the restaurant implies some watery location, it is actually in a formerly industrial area and housed the Floataway Garage Door factory when overhead garage doors came into existence. So encountering this wonderful restaurant in such an out-of-the-way location feels a little adventurous and fun."

"We were so disappointed with our dinners. We used to dine regularly at Floataway when the food was consistently outstanding. What happened? Our server was wonderful and the Merlot we ordered was fabulous but the kitchen needs to step up its game again and get back to turning out some classically good food. They need to stop resting on their reputation and stop skating by based on their affiliation with Bacchanalia."

"Was disppointed overall with our dishes. OUr appatizer of olives tasted fine, but came swimming in a bowl of olive oil when they only needed to be coated in a marinade. I had the octopus cassoulet, with beans that tasted as though they had not been cooked quite all the way through, a bit mealy and grainy. My quail was dry, and the rhutbaga we ordered as a side was just this side of undercooked and seemed to be completely unseasoned. My ordered the rigatoni, which she enjoyed very much.
The ambiance was a bit lacking. I sat on one of the benches which was a good bit lower than the accompanying chair and a bit too low for the table. My wife sat there first and found it unusable."

"It was a great dinner; the only thing I might have preferred, looking back, was that we had been seated in a slightly different area; we were in a section with four tables, and there were diners at the other three, even though the restaurant was by no means full - so, not sure why we were seated there, exactly - I might have preferred a slighly quieter area. It was great, though, that no one rushed us through the meal, which I appreciated. The service was great - very attentive, but not overbearing. Overall, the experience was very enjoyable, and the food was wonderful. I will definitely visit again."

"The entrees were not very good. I had the trout--tasteless. My friends had the hanger steak-over seasoned. The root vegetable soup was delicious, as was the Ice cream. Friday night at 8pm and they were out of the halibut. My elderly friend couldn't read the menu because of the lighting, and they couldn't "find" a mini flashlight."

"I have dined at Floataway a few times in the past and always had an excellent experience. Therefore, I was surprised by my most recent visit. The restaurant was not prepared for the amount of reservations that night. There was only one bartender scheduled, so you can imagine how stressed she was as she attempted to take care of the bar customers as well as fill the numerous orders coming in from her fellow servers. The cuisine was excellent as always, but the staff was stressed, overworked and unpleasant. I was there to celebrate the birthday of my partner, which was noted in the reservation. The hostess confirmed who was celebrating a birthday when I checked in, but the birthday was not acknowledged at all while we dined."

"Best meal I've had in Atlanta in a long time. All of the food I tried was excellent: mussels, octopus, short rib, the steak, the fries, the veal ragu gnocchi, all just so rich, full of flavor, yet with a different little twist to them. Will be coming back for a special occasion in the future undoubtedly"

"Floataway has always been one of my favorite places in ATL, and probably my favorite of the group - great space, casually elegant food. Wonderful food, actually the food has improved under the new chef. we found old standards such as the crab fritter to be significantly improved. the gnocchi with lamb ragu was inspired - complex flavors. the duck, perfectly prepared - then the short rib, with the wonderful sea island red peas ... heavenly. the only minor disappointment was the pear + almond tart - a slight miss, too much pastry, not enough pear ... although the port gelato was quite good. i much prefer the pear / brown butter tart at star provisions."

"I can't figure out why they have a table for 2 right beside the door. It was very odd to enter right in the middle of people dining, for me it felt awkward and I glad they didn't seat us there. There was no space in the bar where we wouldn't have been standing over people eating. Why don't they have their patrons come in to the bar area, it could be organised better to leave the dining areas off to the side? Husband didn't really like the decor. Service was okay, I felt a little hurried, ordered a cocktail and didn't have time to enjoy it before the food arrived. All this aside, the food was VERY good. Crab fritter, octopus, gnocchi with lamb ragu, GA trout. Good, reasonably priced wine list."

"My first time at Floataway and I was very impressed! The food especially stood out as all 4 items we ordered were spectacular, particularly the casarecci pasta, the clams, and the octopus cassoulet. The wine list offered a nice variety and several options at a surprisingly affordable price point, which is appreciated. We went on a rainy night but I look forward to returning and eating outside!"

"Have been to Floataway a dozen times and never disappointed. But the service was overly attentive when it came to more wine (which we didn't want) and inattentive with respect to water. My husband's steak was barely warm. I had the African Squash soup and the gnocchi with veal ragu and both were outstanding -- also hot!"

"LOVED THE pasta and veal meatballs, squash soup, and fried brussel sprouts. We also ordered the Black Spaghetti and Shrimp, it was definitely a dish that tasted like it was from the sea, just like the server explained. Next time, we will probably order the hanger steak instead! We tried the dessert sampler and they were all delicious, but the warm toffee pudding was absolutely divine! I will go back again just for the wine, Brussel sprouts, and the warm toffee pudding. I bet it's a beautiful place to enjoy in the warmer months, the outdoor seating looked nice but it was too cold for us to e out there! Definitely will make it back here soon!"
