"Having had one if the best meals of my life at the Frida Bistro a few years ago, I was excited to return with friends.
The staff was amazing, the drinks were sublime, and, sadly, the food was subpar. Even if it had been a cheap meal, we would have been disappointed. Too bad it was relatively expensive, and not at all worth what we paid."

"My husband and I took my mom and dad here for a mother's day dinner. It was a great restaurant and perfect for the occasion. My only complaint is that it is in an "interesting" part of town. I'd definitely go again though, hence the 5 star rating. :-)
I like restaurants that branch out into places like this because if definitely improves the neighborhood!"

"The service was great, but the food was awful. Their mashed potatoes look like playdough, the mango sauce that they put on the chicken tastes was inedible and they seemed to dye everything pink, which made everything look undercooked. The ceviche was ok, but too light in flavor to serve with thick blue corn chips. The duck in the quesadilla was dry and their flan seemed old, like they had made it a week prior. I would never return to this restaraunt."

"My husband and I want to Frida's to celebrate a special occasion. As always, the food, beverage and service was phenomenal. Our server, Gretchen was awesome!! She listened to our preferences and speciall dietary needs. Based on the information we gave her, she provided suggestions for both of us to enjoy :) Her recommendats where DELICIOUS! I shared the special celebration with Gretchen and she gave my husband a free dessert :) I couldn't have asked for anything more!!"

"Food was unique. Comment on table was can't go there if you are craving real mexican food, most like chile verde. One of my guest wanted chips and salsa, shocked that you did not have any for dinner. It would of been good as a compliment.
I mayself thought food was okay. I would like options for sides. Drinks were great! Although, need to be in a margarita glass. Flan was great!!"

"Had a delightful lunch there last week, so I reserved for dinner Friday night. Most of the meal (Ceviche, beet salad, corn and truffle soup, ahi) were fine but the special for the night was a lamb shank. Lamb shank should fall off the bone and be very tender because of hours of simmering. This shank was not simmered for very long, and although completely cooked, it was just tough.
A great place for lunch, but both times we had dinner, the chef misses the mark."

"The price- food ratio was a bit off and the waiter was pretty annoying not giving us time to pick something from the menu and being pretty pushy on removing plates from the table even we were noch done with them. :-( You got the feeling that they wanted to have the table free soon again and we were there to spend the whole evening in a relaxed atmosphere eating and talking. So I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if you a looking for that. Also I don't like that there menu online is not up-to-date."

"We have visited Frida on numerous occasions, and excited that a new and different restaurant had settled close to our home, we had high hopes that it's menu would evolve with the seasons and demands of its clientele. But unfortunately it has not. The food has instead

The "tiraditos de atun" was served to us with old tuna, over spiced to hide the age and poor cut, and the watermelon obviously old due to its mushy and tasteless texture.

"What a surprise! A gourmet Mexican restaurant in Salt Lake. Wonderful food -- eclectic and totally unexpected menu. No tacos or burritos here -- REAL food and always with a unique twist. We had buffalo short ribs and glazed carnitas, chipotle potatoes, and vegetables and purple potatoes. Lovely inside, first rate tequila selection (try the mescal)... felt like a California restaurant on Abbot-Kinney in Santa Monica... definitely not the usual SLC me-too fare."

"Two of us had a nice dinning experience. We ordered the anniversary special. We both had the sweet potato bisque and it was beyond excellent. However, for our main dishes one of us had food that was excellent (lamb chops) and one of us had fair to marginal food - chicken was dry and the rice dish was not hot, just warm and the one bite I took was without much flavor. The desserts we had were nothing special. But I would go back and try something else."

"Frida Bistro is a scrumptuous break from the burrito/taco mexican restaurants you normally find - not that I don't love those too. The dishes are delicately spiced with unusual combinations. We loved the cornmeal coated calamari - especially since my girlfriend is gluten-free. The seared tuna salad was amazing on slices of watermelon - combinations that compliment in very nice and surprising ways. And our main dish was shrimp in a smoky cream sauce, perfectly cooked and I couldn't get enough of the sauce, which I sopped up with the yummies little homemade corn tortillas."

"I have historically LOVED Frida's. So when coming to town with only one night for a dinner out, this is the restaurant I chose. We made our reservation through Open Table.
The evening started out on a bad note when five of us were seated at a very small 4-top. They said their 6-tops were reserved, and they refused to add a 2-top to the 4-top to give us more space -- there were adjacent 2-tops that remained empty through our dinner.
The food was, as always, very good. But one dish, an appetizer ordered as an entree, arrived long after the other entrees, with no apology or explanation.
We spent $50 each. That should have gotten us some elbow room."

"A festive place and I would go back just for the margaritas.
Food presentation was beautiful though too many flavors going on once. Would have preferred lighter fare. Maybe next time after a serious athletic endeavor.

"Probably the most unique Mexican food I know of. It's a far cry from Tex Mex - rather, it's esoteric deep southern gourmet Mexican with mole sauces, grilled cactus, pistachio custs, spicy pumpkin seed garnishes and other unexpected delights. They also have a menu of fine tequilas that are to be sipped and a slew of homemade "natural" margaritas that put most other marg's to shame.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED"

"me and my girlfriend went to eat there and try it out because we heard it was a good place. the restaurant was very nice and seemed to have a good atmoshpere. i have worked in restaurants since i was little so i like to rate them. the food was excellent. the atmosphere was wonderful as well. the service however wasnot so good. the wait assistant was a better server than our server. she did not introduce herself to us, she did not talk to us at all. she basically took our orders and came back once and asked how we were doing. the food was ran by someone else. my alcoholic drink was ran by someone else. i did not know exactly whwy i was tipping her because she did not really do anything. i will unfortunately not be returning"

"A great find in salt lake. Don't think that the fare is normal Mexican. There are special flavors and spices with each dish.
It was our server's first night on the job and she was fantastic. Knew the food choices. That means hey hire good talent and train them on the menu.
It was our second time there and we intend to visit more often."
