We are omnivores — carnivorous, chocolate-loving, bacon-hoarding, wineauxs, beer geeks, curd nerds and yes, even vegetarians. Together we are shamelessly unapologetic flavor crusaders and Datz is our playground. An american gastropub + market dishing up regional comfort food favorites generously paired with craft beer, boutique wine and artisanal cheese. Served with ample sides of culinary education and entertainment in a spirited, ever-evolving environment. After all, we believe ordinary belongs in the dictionary, not in a restaurant. Especially ours.
"I had a reservation at nine o'clock for four people Friday night. On the request box on the reservation site I had asked to be seated upstairs if available! And we were seated upstairs right away! Also the food came to our table surprisingly fast for a Friday night and our server was great!"

"The place is so fun to look at. The decor is different and includes an indoor market of specialty sauces, vinegars, and jellies. The food was delicious, they offered a wide variety. Out family has two people that are more "foodies" and two people who are more picky and plain. Everyone from our family left satisfied. We were celebrating my daughters's middle school graduation, so we went next door to Doughs, Datz"s sister. The pastries, gelato, and gourmet chocolates...to die for!"

"This is a really nice restaurant with just the appropriate level of sound and music selection. We went for the early brunch and ordered an omelet, grits, fruit and the hot mess...all which was delicious and fresh tasting. However, we waited for over an hour to get served. Nonetheless, we would definitely return to try other menu items."

"Kind of pricy for what we had to eat. Our servers was not as friendly as the one that waited the tables next to us. We barely saw him during get the time we were there whereas the waitstaff around us were present on the floor"

"We ordered the Mac n' Cheese bites and Black Truffle Fries as apps and the Waffles n' Tweet and Vinny's Brisket Philly for dinner. Everything came out delicious - perfectly steaming hot, full of bold flavor, and in huge-enough-for-leftover-lunch portions. The apps weren't quite "large" but decently portioned (5 Mac bites, one normal order of fries). Great bar menu with many options running a typical $10/drink. Fast, friendly and efficient service from the time I first walked into the door until we walked out. Everyone from the hostesses, server, food runner, to busser were awesome. Just loved our experience and cannot wait until we are back in Tampa to try everything else...if I can stay away from those Chicken and Waffles!"

"we had a small group but the overall experience was very nice. We arrived early and were welcomed in the bar with great service. The staff was accomodating and our own server was very good.
Our table ending up being upstairs and I didnt find upstairs to be quite as lively but the food was very enjoyable and combined with our own great company and that of our server the whole experience turned out very nice."

"We have been here several times and really enjoy the extensive menu. There is something for everyone, including vegans and vegetarians. Our party had glazed salmon, chicken and waffles, vegan stew, pork tacos and fish and crispers. No complaints! Carrot cake is a great choice for dessert. It's a little pricey, but you won't be disappointed!"

"Our food was decent, with the nutella crepes as a standout. But the other dishes were average. The portion sizes were ridiculous. There is no need to ever put that much food on one plate.
I was excited to have a sandwich because they tout their bakery, but the bread was nothing special (nothing I couldn't get at the supermarket).
We don't live in Tampa but Datz was highly reccommended by friends who do. So maybe its a local thing, but we just weren't that impressed."

"Datz is my favorite restaurant in the entire country - hands down. I'm from a part of the Gulf Coast known for its culinary excellence, and I can't say that I've been anywhere that I enjoy quite as much as Datz.
I love how the menu changes from time to time; how everything is prepared with so much care and the service is always amazing. I'm also looking forward to when Dough opens next door."

"We heard so much about this restaurant that I think our expectations were too high. Nothing special here. My daughters plain ole hotdog cost $7.00. It wasn't on the menu, but we would not have ordered a $7 hotdog. The service was good but too impatient, felt like we were rushed. Not good since we were there before the dinner rush, not busy to say the least. Will not go back. Too many other good paces to eat."

"First time there. Had the chicken and waffles for lunch, they were delicious. The Jalapeno infused maple syrup was delicious.
Was surprised by the amazing interior, given the bland exterior. This is a cool place to take friends from out of town, as you would never guess it was there and it looks awesome inside.
Will definitely be returning to try more menu options in the future.
Service was good, but nothing really special. My visit was at lunch though, so no surprises there."

"Fish & Chips($18)came on a large plate 3/4 full of chips(potato) with 3 very thin/small fillets of cod. When I Ordered I was afraid it'd be too much food but actually was left wanting, & wondering where the $18 was, in chips? Instead of giving a beer sample the waiter went & tasted the beer to tell us what it was like!? Also if you've been to a few proper beer bars in your life you'll find the beer list limited. Maybe a collab with Cigar City would help? Most beers were 14oz rather than 16oz pours, at $7+ they can throw in the extra 2oz. The $12 Buffalo Trace Old Fashion was good but had stock Maraschino Cherry garnish from a jar. At that price you should be making the Cherrys in house. Datz should up they're game OR lower the prices."

"We always enjoy the food at Datz and have been many times. What we don't like, we are an older couple and with plenty of tables on the first floor, they want to seat us upstairs. (This is the 3rd time in a row) This visit we told them we would just eat at the bar so we were given a table downstairs. After this our waitress wasn't very friendly. We will go back because we enjoy the food."

"Ive been to Datz about four or fives times now and I've done the text ahead reservations twice. And the first time we had no problems. But the second time I had to call and say I wanted to extend the reservation about 30 minutes and the host only gave us a 15 minute window instead of 30. When I needed the 30 minute window because of traffic and it was raining! But we arrived and were told that our reservation was canceled but we were seated right away! Which was fine in the end and I had no problems! Overall service was great and the food was amazing like always!"

"This was my first time here. I ordered a sandwich & didn't think it was great. The chips were OK. I noticed every table would receive popcorn upon arrival but my table didn't; I don't know if they were complimentary. I don't know what all the fuss is about because datz wasn't great."

"My husband and I have read a lot about Datz and decided to go for breakfast. We were blown away by the food, service, and the ambiance! I had the fried egg sammie with spinach, bacon, and the home fries cooked in bacon grease. So good! My husband has the corned beef hash and he loved it! We wanted to go back for lunch, but we were still full from our heavenly breakfast. I made reservations for lunch next Wednesday already. We both have already spread the word about Datz to co-workers and friends. The only bad thing is we don't live close to Datz, if we did we would eat there two to three times a week."

"Went mid-afternoon to avoid the crowds, and had an outside table. Burger was excellent, cooked med-rare as requested, and very flavorful. Philly brisket sandwich was large and tasty, primarily due to the melted provolone and the caramelized onions, less so the brisket itself which was a bit dry in spots. Included with both were delicious home made chips with blue cheese topping. Chocolate cake was huge, moist and most important, chocolatey. Fabulous beer selection, and they allowed us to taste a few before making a selection. Great place for a late lunch or early dinner, before an event at the TBT Forum."

"The food is good but not consistent. I've been here several times and have ordered the same thing: Shim Burger (bunless burger w/salad). The first time I ordered it, it came out perfect. The bacon was crisp, the burger was just how I ordered it and the salad was yummy. The 2nd time, the bacon was soft and chewy (still fatty not crispy) and the salad had little to no dressing tossed in it. The 3rd time I said to heck w/the bacon because I didn't want to end up with fat back so I ordered the burger with cheese and spinach. It came out with a few shreds of finely shredded cheese that didn't cover the burger. The salad had enough dressing but it had grated parmesean vs shaved like the first two times. Service is ALWAYS SLOWWWWW."

"I was disappointed because I heard how great the food was. I had lunch with my cousin and he said his sandwich was really good. I had the shrimp poo boy and it wasn't very good at all, the bread was over toasted to the point of drying out plus it was cut all the way thru making it extremely hard to eat, the shrimp were to big for a po bo and maybe because og the size didn't feel like it was enough. Someone should visit The Cajun Café on the Bayou in Pinellas county to find out what a po boy should be like. I ate there today and there is no comparison."

"I have been going to Datz since the restaurant opened and it used to be one of my favorite spots in South Tampa. Unfortunately, as the restaurant grows, it seems to have consistency issues. The size and quality of their sandwiches can change from day to day."

"As always, Datz was delicious. The atmosphere is superb and the food is just as good. All guests are made to feel welcome here, and there is truly something for everyone. My only complaint is on Sundays don't expect to order a mimosa before 11am. Alcohol cannot be served before 11am, a city ordinance, a true brunch injustice, but I survived nontheless! :)"

"We made our reservation for 8 and when we needed 12 they were quick to accommodate. We also asked for an outside table upon arrival and they made it happen. We were there to celebrate our engagement from the night before...it had been a long fun party night so we were a bit rowdy and a little indecisive in our ordering...our waiter did a fine job...food was better than average...felt the chips and blue cheese drizzle needed a lot of help...not enough in general and didn't have much flavor...chips were too hard and didn't taste fresh. Everything else was good though. Will come again."
