"Wonderful dining experience at Cafe Trio. The food was very good and service was good - took care of us without hovering. We had a party of 8 and sat comfortably inside. The noise level was low, which made for easy conversation. I would definitely recommend to others!"

"I go to Cafe Trio about 6-7 times a year for various occasions - happy hour with friends, business lunches and dinners, special celebratory dinners, and even celebrated my birthday here a couple of times. The food and drink are not to be missed, but it's their servers that make this Kansas City restaurant outstanding to me.
On my most recent visit, I brought in an eight-top for a work lunch. Jody - who has been our server before when we had a 20-person business dinner - was again friendly, efficient and detail-oriented. This is common among Cafe Trio's staff - service far beyond competency, whether it's dinner for two or.a fundraiser party for 100."

"I was very disappointed on Mother's Day. They had a certain menu and that was the only items you could order. I told them I had certain diet needs . They said they would work with me , but didn't. I did not like any items but picked tilipia. It was really fishy. I took one bite and told her I didn't care for it. She took my plate and charged me $35.00. All I wanted was a nice salad. They said that was not on their Mother's Day menu. Very disappointed."

"This was the first time I have been to this place during the week. We usually go on Friday or Sat. I always get the filet but this was the first time it was not cooked perfect. It was rushed to cook and it hadn't "rested." This was disappointing since it is usually very good. We will definitely go back- on the weekend."

"Cafe Trio has become one of our favorite dining spots over the past year. The tasteful decor is the first thing one notices and it is very interesting how it changes over the seasons. The meals are always superb with the Mac Daddy is my wife's favorite Kansas City meal. If possible, try to get a seat on the patio for fantastic views of the Plaza and parks below."

"My companion and i ate here on a Saturday evening. It was kind of cool, so we ate inside. He had the swordfish special and i had the snapper. I had the brussel sprouts ( sooo delicious) and he had the spinach salad (loved it). Service was great, wine was great, food was excellent. If the weather is nice, be sure to eat on the deck. It's a great place to have dinner and wine and look out over the plaza. The inside is lovely but the deck is not to be missed when the weather allows. This place is one of our favorites."

"I had dinner at Trio with some old friends from college. We reserved a spot and were lucky enough to get a table on the covered patio. Fun decor and lamps, awesome views of the Plaza, great food, friendly service -- what's not to love? It was also perfect weather, which didn't hurt :o). Great time, loved it, would go back tonight if I could! Get the brussels sprouts -- the best I've ever had."

"My partner and I wanted to eat out on the first nice day of spring (before the next snow) and decided cafe trio was it. When we were seated, it was in the covered patio section and there simply was no air flow and it was hot, stale, and stuffy. We selected our drinks and menu options only to find out the kitchen was out of all the steaks except the filet and the bar was out of the Bombshell Martini. How does this happen on a Monday? I guess delivery day was Tuesday or something. Anyway, our server was super nice, busy, and took great care of us and the food we did get to have was excellently prepared and full of flavor. Only wish we could've had what we originally wanted instead. Returning is certain it's worth it even with issues."

"We always enjoy dining at Cafe Trio. We usually go there when we go to the Unicorn Theatre. We have always found the food very good and they always make sure we get our food in time to get to the theatre. The waiters are always friendly and the food is always good. "Food and atmosphere were excellent. However it took a very long time to get our entrees--over an hour. We were seated at 8:00, ordered by 8:15 and has to go find our server at 9:15 to ask where our food was. We had tickets for a comedy club at 10:00 so it was a bummer that we ended up only having 20 mins to eat our food. Our waiter was not at all helpful or apologetic either--he gave no explanation at all. We also never received baskets of bread like all of the other tables around us. When we mentioned that to our waiter he acted like we were lying & wasn't apologetic at all. Only got bread after two people at our table got up and asked for it. The food was very good however. My husband was bummed that they were out of ribeye though..."

"I took my wife there for her birthday, they sat us next to a party that would stand up and at one time(till i asked them to kindly move away) leaned on her chair as they stood. every time the wait staff walked by they bumped her chair.they staff never asked the people to move back to their table 3 ft away. Our appetizer came and we finished it before we even ordered our main dinner.He was more interested in taking care of the loud walking around table next to us,never asking them to move back to their table.I spent 120.00 for a very unpleasant experience,it was lousy,loud and obnoxious and anyone with this experience wouldcomplain way more.I have been there a dozen times happy and refered several of my friends and from now on no way"

"The meal/service in the dining room on the main floor is great. However, the noise level is very "loud." This is my only complaint..... The positioning of the piano in the middle of the main floor dining room, while attractive, and the music is always good; there is the piano music and people talking over the piano, which makes a very noisy dining experience. You cannot hear others at your table trying to have a conversation. The atmosphere on the other-hand is very dim lighting; an almost Hotel Regency experience with great ambiance. The Patio is always pleasant.
The entire venue, bartenders, servers, staff and food are always exceptional! A Kansas City favorite! Thank you for this amazing restaurant!"

"My friend and I returned to Cafe Trio for the first time in about a year. We had early reservations (5:45) on a Friday and were pleased to find parking spots available then vs. we know that the parking fills up after 6:30. We enjoyed salads with a filet steak and their great mac & cheese entrees. Delicious."

"As usual Cafe Trio did not disappoint, it truly is my favorite spot in KC to go for a nice dinner out. Our waiter Tyler was such a joy.
