"The service by the only male server is always outstanding. Believe his name was Jeff? The female servers always deliver mediocre service. 2 16 year-old brunette hostesses did not honor my (open table)reservation and appeared "high". 2 (tables) 4-tops were open and we had to wait 20 minutes for them to seat us at a open 2-top.I have eaten at this establishment over 10 times. One of my friends is friends with the owners. The Food is consistent with a mostly Mexican kitchen staff. Blackened shrimp and scallops were very good. avoid the country pate'! Blackened chicken was like hard cardboard....dessert was above average and detailed presentation canolis and the eggnog ice-cream. The specials are never dazzling or "stand-out"."

"This is the second time that I have eaten at Hgh Street Cafe. The first experience was way too crowded and noisy. The food was excellent both times. The second time, I ate early and had wonderful food and service. The first trip through was just too crowded, but that goes with an excellent meal. I will eat there again."

"The High Street Caffe & Vudu lounge was as good as I could of expected. The wait staff was nice and the restaurant itself was really cool. The waiter we had was nice and helped me pick out a great dish, the "country jambalaya" which I would highly recommend. It was my first time there and with plenty of tasty sounding choices, his enthusiasm about the dish helped me decide quickly. The only issue I have is that with the prices where they are, you don't get much food. They would definitely rank higher on my list of favorite restaurants if the portions were bigger."

"I had two appetizers - duck confit taco and fried shrimp wenner. Both interesting and good - duck a little dry. Husband had spinach and goat cheese salad - good and blackened fish which was perfectly prepared. Hubby ate every bit of his bourbon pecan pie and I was extremely impressed with the marscapone honey cheesecake. A nice surprise for a day visit to West Chester!"

"The Service was very good, but the food was outstanding. A little dark for my taste and a bit cramped but the Food more then made up for any minor quibbles I might have with the atmosphere. The do have a bar and a quality drink list but i had the iced tea so I can't really help with the wine list. The appetizer were generous in size and many in options. the gator sausage with goats cheese and the meatloaf were table favorites. we share the bananas foster which was big enough for two or even three. I would go back in a heartbeat."

"We were thrilled with the food and service. Both were great. The ambiance left a lot to be desired. Parking was also a problem. We were there for a quiet dinner with good friends, but it was LOUD. Of course, it is a college town, so that explains some. We were disappointed that there was a television at the bar, that could be heard and watched in the dining area. I feel that dining area should be separated from bar area. We liked our martini's and the BYOB on Sunday.
We think that college kids and young families will find it more to their liking than four friends getting together to enjoy meal and each others company."

"Made reservations for two which ended up being on Fat Tuesday. We wanted to go on a tuesday to Check out Dave Manley on Guitar. tried to plan it out right timing wise, but one table did not get out of the way for the band to set up until 9:40. Other than that the food was great. The space is tiny and I elbowed a few waitresses running past our table. Overall a fun night and we'll definitely go back soon."

"The cajun food was really good. Blackened alligator was excellent, jambalaya and etouffee were great. Service was also good and the freshly baked bread and cajun butter they give you at the table when you first arrive is amazing. The ambiance is energetic and tables are very closely packed. Our calamari and popcorn shrimp had a very bland breading - meant to be eaten with the sauce, but disappointing. Live music later in the evening was really nice - a late reservation really has its benefits."

"High Street Cafe is a personal favorite and our standard for out of town guests. The New Orleans inspired food is delicious and sometimes spicy, while the alligator appetizers make for interesting conversations."

"Food was okay... not great but decent. Definitely overpriced. My biggest grip... I made a reservation on opentable, but when I arrived they had no tables... we had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated and not even an apology from the restaurant... as bad as that sounds, we were not the only ones waiting... at least 2 other reservations came in behind us and were not seated on time. It seems to me the reservation system is more a "call ahead list" where you arrive and you're seated next. The atmosphere is a bit off too... it's kind of a bar with crammed tables and the music was not jazz but heavy metal. What a bizarre place!"

"The place is unique. points for that. Cajun perogies were really good, main courses were just ok. Crab cakes were mix of real crab and filler. More filler than crab, and my dates NY Strip steak was only fair quality. For that price, the steak should be organic and grass fed. Food is heavily seasoned, which makes it hard to judge real quality. We eat out a lot and at some great restaurants; we'd put this one in the lower third of where we've been. Might go back but not for a while. Place was dead for a Wednesday night in the burrough"

"good food, more than generous portions even on the prix fixe menu causing us to take half of each course home...except for the yummy desserts which were enjoyed on the spot. quiet, frigid-weather night so the noise level was modest, can imagine it gets lively on busier nights. a good experience, looking forward to return visit."

"If you like Cajun and you are in the south eastern area of Pa, this is the place. We have frequented this restaurant over the last 10 plus years and always find its unique dishes quite enjoyable. The prices are fair the food very good. Even the alligator appetizer is the best I have ever had and I spent many nights in New Orleans on business over the years and this still is the best alligator. Their other dishes are comparable to many in New Orleans but if you want real excellent Cajun you can't beat many of the New Orleans restaurants."
