"This was a totally rewarding experience--great food, terrific service, beautiful surroundings, and quiet enough to hear one another. We left just as a rather loud group was coming in, but while we were there, it was a very pleasant experience. I highly recommend it, have returned several times."

"Harth has an exceptional atmosphere that makes one feel comfortable and pampered at the same time. The food is also quite well done. There were wonderful gourmet selections available that were artfully composed and that could be made even healthier by ordering sauces and dressings on the side. My salmon was perfectly cooked/seared and served on a bed of leeks and asparagus. Delicious! Our service was okay until the end of the meal when one of our party wanted to order coffee but our server never came to ask if anyone needed anything. It also took a long while for them to collect our check. Drink orders after the initial service were nonexistent. The noise level was not conducive for a Book Club chat. Overall though. . . enjoyable."

"Delicious farm to table food, even though in the midst of a large convention hotel. Chef comes to greet the diners. Be sure to try the bacon and carmelized onion spread on the fresh bread. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves great food!"

"An odd place. They advertise brunch, but when we arrived they told us it was only a breakfast bar. The selection was limited, but the items were good. Also odd was that I wasn't able to get a reservation later than 11:15, but the restaurant was nearly empty the whole time we were there. We ordered drinks, but were told we couldn't get them until 11:30. Then were told we could get them as of 11:00, but there was no bar person, so our server made the drinks. The nearly empty room accounts for it being quiet. It may not be quiet when other people are there."

"I hav eaten at Härth five times in the past 2 months and have never been disappointed. We take new friends there always and they always return. You won't be disappointed. The menu is delicious, sustainable, healthy and very diverse. Love Chef Toms approach to eating well and feeling good. Be sure to order the Smooth Ambler vodka martini. Ridiculous."

"This was our second time at Haarth; we enjoyed it so much the first time we were eager to return. We really liked our starters, first courses and dessert. "When arrived to meet a friend for lunch at 12:45pm on a Wednesday, the place was packed and louder than I would have preferred. It wasn't rowdy, just quite crowded with professionally dressed folks. Our lunch was a leisurely one, & by the time we left around 2:30pm, surprisingly we were the only customers there! The sunny weather & large windows enhanced the sparkling white color of the place, which somehow appeared bright & fresh rather than bland, enhanced by the glass enclosed fireplaces, which sounds odd in springtime, but it worked well. We both got the apple & pear salad, hers with shrimp, mine with salmon, & I ate every bite, & particularly liked the addition of figs & blue cheese crumbles. It's a nice alternative to Route Seven!"

"Easter brunch at Harth was very nice. Unlike a lot of restaurants on a holiday, Harth provided a varied ala carte menu. Items in each menu category sounded delicious and featured local farmers (listed on the menu) and produce. A special and yummy feature was the house-made bacon jam, which arrived warm in a small crock with a basket of bread. The honey used in the jam is produced in house from bee hives on the premises. Our entrees were delicious with interesting twists. The wait staff were very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable and showed pride in what the restaurant had to offer. We had a nice unrushed dining experience and would definitely go back for dinner sometime."

"If you go for brunch and expect anything more than eggs, bacon , saugase and some yogurt, you will be disappointed. This is a typical hotel-type breakfast (I think the hilton rents the Harth space to provide breakfast for guests in the morning). Nothing spectacular. Nothing offered a la carte. Save your $24 and go somewhere else."

"The food and service could not have been better! This restaurant proved to be the classic example of seasonal local foods. Our party of 6 all ordered seafood (shrimp, scallops, fish) which was all cooked to perfection. Our server, Marie, could not have been more helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The bacon jam served with bread before your meal is superb - made with honey from the on site bee hives. Would highly recommend for a lovely date night too!"

"This was my first time trying this place with my familyand I have to say this place just went on my top 3 place to eat in the Tyson's area. The short beef rib were just fantastic and the NY steak strip was perfect with the sauce you get on the side. Then putting the great end to the dinner with cupcake dessert and illy mocha. There wine list was quite good but it depends on a person taste so you could decide for yourself."

"It appeared there were only two waiters for the entire restaurant. The waiter spilled our wine as he poured it - seemed in a hurry. Then we waited 45 minutes for our meal -- the chicken was dry and no one came back to ask. By the time he came back - over an hour later, we were too tired to get something else. For such expensive entrees, both food and service need to step up considerably. Not sure I'll go back."

"When first seated, i was not offered a drink menu. This was confusing, and when i asked for the wine list, the waitress brusquely demanded to see my ID. Not a good start to a meal. Upon ordering an array of items to graze on in courses, my date and I were confounded to see five courses of food delivered all at once. Once eating, the wait staff kept trying to clear plates that were not finished and they became a nuisance. The poor service really overshadowed the quality food. The ingredients were farm fresh and the flavors a friendly reminder of modern Italian American cuisine."

"This restaurant would have been great but my risotto was much too salty. I was so looking forward to it but I couldn't even finish it. I mentioned it to the waiter but he didn't seem to care. It wouldn't have made much difference because it took so long for him to check in with us after the food was served that everyone had just about finished their meals when I told him."

"Harth is a very good restaurant that could become a gem. The food is consistently good and sometimes better than that. Compared to all the chain restaurants like Maggiano's that parade as slightly more upscale dining in this area, Harth offers an authentic culinary experience, prepared from far better ingredients , at better prices in one of the best dining rooms in the whole metro DC area. . Recommended dishes are onion soup, frisée salad, wedge salad, flat breads pizzas, shrimp & grits and roast chicken. Don't mis the cupcake dessert.. The waitstaff are eager but untrained (please bring each diner's dishes at the same time) and do not match the promise of a beautiful dining room. Bacon jam is amazing."

"We were a little disappointed after seeing such great reviews. There were no specials because we went the week after restaurant week, according to our waiter. The onion soup had a strange, consistency under the cheese, even though the flavor was good, chicken was good and the flounder was very salty. There are so many good restaurants around that I don't think we would be in a rush to go back."

"I have rarely been as disappointed. Beautiful decor but.
To start with, we arrived early. The host sat us at a two person table in a row with several other two toppers. I just don't like this seating arrangement and asked for one of the four toppers which provide more privacy. No, we have to save them for groups of four. Of course ten minutes later a they slide the tables next to us together and seat a family with four kids next to us. Well behaved as kids go but still... So much for the nice evening. Of course by the time we left most of the four toppers were still open.
I had the short ribs and my wife the pork. I could have made better at home and certainly could have found better at any of DC's restaurants."

"We went here to celebrate my wife's birthday. Everything was excellently prepared. Our rockfish was among the best I have ever had. The waiter was very attentive, but not obtrusive. Only minor complaint was that they did not have enough variety of Virginia wines. I my opinion this is a must for a restaurant touting its local food. We will definitely come back."

"I've been to Harth twice now. Both times I have found the food very good, the service smooth and the ambiance very warm and inviting. The fireplaces are a wonderful touch. The only weird thing was some of the booths have tables so big that it's impossible to have a conversation across them. I appreciate that most of the food is locally sourced and organic. The bacon jam with the bread is great!"

"We tried Harth for Valentine's day. They had a special Valentine's menu but would not allow any changers to their dishes nor would they let you order off the dinner. It was 4 courses. At best, I can say is the food was fair. Instead of a regular or a ceasar salad they served a brussel sprouts salad and it was not good. The bread didn't seem fresh. The service for what I paying for was borderline bad. It was hard to track down a waiter. We both ordered the steak. Both steaks were had a lot of fat. It was not what what I was expecting. The dessert was delicious though. Would I go back? Not unless it was comped. I thought the place was very snooty, the waiters were very snooty and very overrated."

"Was not impressed on our second visit... first time, service and food were great. This time, being seated at our table was the best part. Other than that, waiter took forever in an empty restaurant to get our wine and once we got that and our dinner ordered, didn't seem him for an hour. We had to ask someone else THREE times to fill our waters and for another glass of wine - plates didn't not get cleared - just not acceptable. Particularly because we were meeting friends from Maryland that we hadn't seen in a long time and were very disappointed."
