La Brezza Ristorante
La Brezza, meaning ocean breeze, is considered to be one of Calgary's finest Italian restaurants. Opened in 1987 and still in its original location - once the owners house, La Brezza continues to offer an elegantly simple Italian cuisine, emphasizing traditional home-cooked goodness.
You can enjoy a satisfying lunch and dinner menu with daily specials and you can even indulge on Sundays as we are one of the few local restaurants open 7 days a week. We pride ourselves in offering great food, great service, and a warm, relaxed atmosphere. See you soon!

"We had the antipasti appetizer which had a lot of cheese and only 2 pieces of prociutto for meat. It could have more italian cold cuts. The Pasta dishes were great - they have gluten free pasta. Service was very good. Nice spot to go. Would go again."

"The calamari was good, the lasagna bland and salty, the prawns and spaghetti very bland and over cooked. Was excited about going and hoping to go back and recommend the place. However we wont go back, with the prices, I was expecting much better food and the service was ok. The food came out pretty quick, but our server took a long time to clear our plates. I wont recommend the place, I was looking for value and quality, felt let down on both."

"We hadn't been to La Brezza in years - glad we tried again. This is basic, well-prepared, tasty Italian food in generous portions for reasonable prices. Our service was warm, friendly and attentive. I'm sorry we were all too full to have dessert! The owner came and spoke to us, which is nice - I found him almost a bit pushy, too familiar, but the other people at our table didn't feel that way. We'll be back."

"It was my first time eating at this restaurant. The food was excellent with fresh ingredients, well cooked and full of independent flavour (definitely recommend the cannelloni)! The service was friendly and attentive and the owner made a point of speaking to all the tables to ensure they had a good time. I'm glad we made dinner reservations as I believed they ended up being booked up."

"We were there for a special occasion and with all of the other restaurants we have been to (via OpenTable) it has always been a great place where the occasion was acknowledged in a pleasant way! We did not have the same experience here. The wait was exceptionally long for food. The menu did mention to expect about 35 min waiting time but we were waiting for our entrees for over an hour. I was extremely thirsty and no one came to refill on water, or even come and check up on us to see if we needed anything. We finished our bottle of San Pellegrino ($7) and eventually the owner came over (75 mins into service) to say hi. We ran out of things to talk about and started staring about. The appetizer was good but won't be coming back."

"Fantastic food, warm friendly atmosphere. My coworkers and I spontaneously decided upon La Brezza for lunch, many of us having never been there before. Had bruschetta to start and the special - spaghetti and meatballs...the food was amazing! Server was fantastic and the owner Marco kept us entertained. Definitely recommend you try La Brezza!"

"My wife and I enjoyed our first visit last year, so decide to try La Brezza again.
Shared an order of jumbo prawns - very good.
Ordered Fettuccini Alla Carbonara and Linguini Mediterranean, both dishes were over salted and more like noodle soup - way too much sauce. Don't you think the amount of sauce used should be just enough to coat the pasta? We were disappointed with our meals."

"Had a meal on Good Friday with friends who flew in from the West Coast. The food was excellent, the service was great and the restaurant itself was steady, but not packed.
Only issue was that by 7PM, they'd run out of a number of items (some wine, certain entrees) which crimped things slightly due to some dietary restrictions.

"My boyfriend and I love to try out new italian restaurants so we were very excited to give la brezza a try. We were there at 5pm on a Friday and they were all out of lasagna and meat sauce for any pasta. The service was also pretty awful, one waitress working that seemed less than happy to be there and not accommodating at all, I wanted a French martini and she made a fuss that they did not have a bartender as she walked away from the table. Overall, not impressed with the lack of food available and the poor customer service and would never recommend this restaurant considering there are so many great italian restaurants in town."

"Our group of four dined at La Brezza one Saturday evening. Our table was in the basement which was dungeon-like. The temperature was variable, we were right beside the fireplace, when it was on we were too hot, we asked her to adjust the heat and she turned it off, when off the room was so cool that other diners suffered. Our server was not skilled, we did not like being called "guys" two males, two females, she was not too attentive or skilled, more training is required. We shared a salad and were given one bowl, most restaurants would split the salad into two portions. The food was very good to excellent and for this we would definitely go back."

"The restaurant was fantastic! All the food is fresh & made to order so you had to wait a bit after ordering but other than that it was a quaint little gem in Bridgeland. The owner came around & chatted with the tables, & the servers knew a lot about the menu including the gluten free options. "All in all the experience was great I would definitely go back. However, when we arrived we were sat at a table and it was almost 15 minutes before a server came by to see if we wanted a drink or even offer to bring water. I had pre-ordered a bottle of champagne to be at the table when we arrived and it wasn't there. I asked about it and because they didn't have anything under $100 for champagne they just ignored the request. I would have appreciated a call or email so that I could choose something different as it was my wife and I's 4th year anniversary. After the initial disappointment of the delay getting a drink and no champagne, it was great. The service was decent, not as personable as I would have hoped but that's ok. Food was amazin"

"Overall a disappointing experience. Food was passable, some of the items on the menu were not available and most of the wine on the list, that we were interested in, were sold out! The service was good however as the waitress did try her best to suggest alternatives for those items which were missing.
One strange thing occurred. While eating my appetizer I received a call, on my cell, from the resturant wondering were my party was! As I asked the caller, who was standing only 10 feet away, to turn around in order to see that I am sitting just behind her, she said to me, "that's OK" (as to suggest I am off the hook), not, "oh, I'm sorry, my mistake". Strange indeed. I won't be back."

However, upon entering, the place was busy and smelled delicious. The food was excellent and our waitress was personable and efficient. The owner Marco even came by and made small talk with us; he even joked around with the kids!! He made everyone feel very comfortable and really enjoyed his customers. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys great food at a reasonable price!!"

"Don't order linguini with clams the amount of grit makes it inedible. Don't order cannelloni too salty. Dont order the creme brulee its curdled. And bring your own cutlery because you wont want to put the dime store forks in your mouth assuming you can convince the waiter to bring you one."

"As Usual, everything about this restaurant was lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, wine, dessert. The service was excellent and very attentive. As usual, Marco came round to check on how we were and served the non-drivers of our group of four a night-cap. We have been here before and in fact this was the first Italian restaurant that my husband introduced me to when I first arrived in Calgary almost 7 years ago. It was a lovely evening that we spent with a couple of close friends."

"Went there for an early valentines dinner. The BEST calamari I have ever tasted!
But the tomato sauce on the mussels tasted burnt, told the waitress and she took the feedback well. Would liked it to be remade or of not liked to of paid for it at the very least as we couldn't even finish it. Overall the rest of the food was good, very reasonably priced. Was a bit too loud in there and small to be romantic, but will definitely be back when we have children as seemed to be lots of families in there. Great wine list. Overall I would recommend!"

"A lovely neighbourhood restaurant, situated in a renovated house. It looks small from the outside, but is surprisingly large inside, with an intimate feel. I chose a three course meal offering of bruschetta, pollante spinach salad, and a New York steak. For desert a Monte Christo coffee and Tieramisu (italian cake). The vegetables were excellent; very tasty and well presented, especially enjoyed the stuffed tomatoe. Our server was professionally attentive."

"This was my first trip to La Brezza with a group of 4 family members. Marco greeted & welcomed us which was very nice. I had no idea who he was but my husband had seen him on tv commercials. When my food arrived it was cold and I had to send it back. The rest of the group said there meals were hot. When I got it back still not hot but better. The food was good but I was not able to finish mine & still had over half left which I asked the waiter for a "doggy bag". He took my meal away & never returned with a container but brought one to the table for my daugther. We had after dinner special coffee drinks which were good but the waiter had forgot the dessert. Should be enjoyed together. Pricey bill which I don't mind for good food & service."

"The food was mediocre, which is too bad as it is in my hood. I would go to Firenze up the road next time for the same cost. The lasagna was okay, ceasar salad was nothing special and we did not enjoy the brochetta - as it had a weird aftertaste. We have eaten here about three occasions and time lapsed between visits so we had forgotten how blah the food is."

"First time diner at this cozy establishment - it was early reservation so we were seated on the main floor with a window - street view. It did fill up fast and the small size of the venue made it quite boisterous once the evening wore on. It is a good choice for some good food and a night out, but wouldn't be advisable if you're looking for a quiet romantic spot. The staff know their menu well are very friendly, patient and helpful. The food overall is middle of the road. Menu has enough variety to make it interesting. The wine list was adequate and covers most tastes. Service was fairly quick. Prices were appropriate for the type of food. Some desserts were unique, others were pretty tame.
Overall, a solid 6 out of 10"
