Moe's Cantina is a modern Mexican cantina -- Mexican fare with Spanish & South American flaire. The menu features small sharable plate choices such as skewers and tacos, plus more substantial fare like banana leaf-wrapped halibut with chipotle sauce and parrillada de carnes, with rib-eye, rib ends, skirt steak and bone-in chicken served on a tabletop grill. Moe's has quickly become famous for the sangrias and margaritas. So who is Moe? He's a friend of the family who developed quite a reputation for his culinary skills.
"I went here for an early dinner with my wife and daughter. It's a few feet away from the CTA station at Merchandise Mart, so it's very convenient. The atmosphere is relaxed and spacious, and the service superb. The menu looks great, and the drink list strong, but the food is a little on the bland side. Still, it was worth the trip, and I'll be back."

"We had a reservation at 7:45pm. Hostess said she'd call us when a table was open, but never did. Meanwhile, the bartender was more interested in eating her food than taking our order. Looked right at us and ignored us. After 45 minutes, I checked back in with the hostess who couldn't believe we still hadn't been seated. I asked if she called us, like she said she would? No answer. The final insult was having to wait 5 minutes, after our food arrived, for silverware."

"Went there for lunch. Cool place, was thinking that it would be a place that I'd return to for dinner. And then they brought thimble sized portions of salsa and told us that, if we wanted real portions, it was $1 per type of salsa. Really. The food was decent and the ambiance very cool, but they completely lost me after the salsa fiasco. I'll never go back. There are plenty of awesome Mexican restaurants in Chicago that won't make me feel nickel and dimed as soon as I order."

"The margaritas were good but pricey at $9. Our flautas weren't so great but the other people in our party really enjoyed their food. Great environment - although our table was at the far end of the restaurant (upstairs). Probably the worst table in the whole restaurant and we had reserved it through Open Table. A bit loud if you're trying to have a conversation."

"Worst dining experience I have had in Chicago and I have lived here for 25 years. The service was awful, the management staff was rude, the food was tasteless and took forever to get."

"A lot of seating. I really like their lunch portions. Their chipotle ceasar chicken salad was actually fantastic. I would highly recommend the salad or the enchiladas."

"Not a great place to eat, but good for drinks and a popular bar scene. Food was bland whether it was fajitas, quesadillas, or fish tacos Service was prompt but they charge you for additional salsa, cheese, or tortillas with your meal. Would go there again to socialize but not to eat"
