"We arrived 10 minutes early and the door was unlocked and were kicked out until 5:30 opening time (reservation time). That is very rude and they should keep the doors locked until opening time if they don't want people coming in before opening time, not kick them out. Food was mediocre and overpriced. Small selection. Our server was great though and the ambiance was nice. I will never return to this restaurant nor recommend it to anyone in the future."

"My wife and I really enjoyed Tantra! The décor inside really sets the mood for a romantic evening. My wife and I had the lump crab cake (3 cakes) as an appetizer. They were crab and not filler. For the main course, my wife had the lamb and I had the pork shoulder which was so tender it melted in my mouth. Both great portions for the price. The manager checked on us periodically and we never had to worry about re-fills on our waters which is usually a pet peeve of mine. I did have one issue, albeit a small one, and it was with the server. Although she was very personable, I felt as if she should have known more about the menu when we asked her about the items. Overall, this is a great place for a special occasion."

"Having relocated from an area with a large Indian population, I've been fortunate to enjoy some outstanding (and mediocre) Indian food. We tried Tantra in hopes of finding a new favorite here in Atlanta. This one absolutely didn't fit the bill.

The ambiance was... fine. We had a bizarre spotlight shining on our table, but I wasn't there for mood lighting. No complaints about the service, other than that the server seemed to forget she'd tucked us in the back corner. But the food... awful. I had an okra dish with zero flavor, like a watery, bland succotash. The naan bread was spongy and sweet, like a pancake (!). The hummus (the dubious high point of the meal) lacked any flavor of either garlic or tahini. We left very disappointed."

"The food and the service was outstanding! My date had the lamb and eggplant frites and I had the vegetarian okra paneer dish. They were both phenomenal! I have never found lamb to be pleasing however I actually ate half of one of my dates lamb steaks. Everything was cooked perfectly, the interior of the restaurant is gorgeous with deep red, silver and black. I'm such a fan! This was out first visit and We look forward to returning soon. I'm excited to try the pork dish."

"My boyfriend and I went to Tantra for a date and the atmosphere was perfect. The lighting was just right, the noise level was just right so we could hear each other but I couldn't hear the table next to us. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the food and wine menu. She have suggestions as well as answered questions about the different wines within their menu. We went for restaurant week so the prices were just right. We would definitely recommend Tantra and we will definitely go again."

"We selected this restaurant because of Buckhead restaurant week and wanted to go somewhere we had not been before. My girlfriends were a little hesitant at first, but quickly changed their minds upon arrival. Our server Matty was AWESOME. Great personality, very attentive, recommended items based on our food and drink interest. Everything that hit the table was devine from the Tantra Sunrise drinks, salmon taco and hummus appetizers to our lamb, salmon entrees and white chocolate surpise cake with the vanilla bean ice cream with the hint of lavendar....yum, yum, yummy. All 3 of us can't wait to go back for date night.

Kudos to the chef, who we raved praises on..."

"First time going to this restaurant.
Tommy our server was fantastic, recommended some great choices and was on point.
Tried some items from Restaurant Week and some from regular menu.

MUST HAVES: Golden beet roasted salad (10/10), hummus with lamb (8/10), lamb with eggplant frites (9/10) and pork with goat cheese grits (9/10). All these were amazing and I wish I would've tried this place sooner.

GOOD BUT NOT WOW: Smoked salmon taco (6/10).

The only thing that disappointed were the mussels (5/10), they lacked flavor and fell flat compared to the other dishes.

Overall a great dining experience and cannot wait until i can go back."

"This was my second time visiting. Unfortunately we were stuck with the same waiter that gave lack luster service. "Everything was good. The one disappointed I had was I brought a bottle of wine for my friends birthday and she had a gift certicate for her meal as a birthday gift. However we were not able to open the wine because she had a gift certificate.... A lot disappointed... you could make an exception of if the person can provife proof of an ID that it's their birthday, to allow the certificate and the wine at the same table."

"My friends & I dined at Tantra on a Friday evening at 7 p.m. The valet, bartender & ambiance were superb. The food however was (roasted chicken; braised short ribs) was bland. The rice was overcooked, though visually attractive. The service was very poor. We started the meal with one server and ended with another (not at any request of ours). Both were smiling but neither warm, inviting, or knowledgeable. The first, a young man named Sean, offered chamomile and Earl Gray teas, then returned to say he had neither, dangling two wrinkled teabags. The young lady who took over for him was polite but ended the meal by asking us to wait at the bar for our check, which was processed incorrectly, because she needed the table."

"We love ethnic flavors specially Indian and Persian. We found Tantra by reading an article about it. The food is extremely complex in flavors and ingredients and design. "As starters we had the mussels and hummus of the day, both very good--flavorful and generous portions. Entrees were the lamb chops and lamb sirloin, also very good and prepared exactly as ordered. We got the lemon scented Italian donuts for dessert--light and good for sharing. Everything going to the table next to us looked and smelled good. Reviews we'd read varied about the noise level, but we were impressed that we could easily carry on a conversation. Service was prompt and attentive. We'd recommend Tantra and return ourselves."

"I had a nice first experience at Tantra. I enjoyed the romantic scenery and the restaurants decor. The food was delightful. I ordered the salmon and my date ordered the lamb. My salmon was just ok. I must admit I have had better salmon as far as flavor goes. My date loved the lamb. Next time I come back I will order something different off of the menu. "The food was delicious and so were the drinks. I went for a Valentine's Day weekend dinner and we had a blast. While our server didn't check in on us to see how we were doing, I saw him glance in our direction a few times so I felt he was still accessible if we needed anything. We went on a cold night and were seated close to the entrance so we were chilly. Other than that the atmosphere was pleasant and great for a romantic evening out in the city. It got more crowded as the evening went on so I am glad I made our reservations for the early evening."

"Food was quite yummy. The ambiance was nice but not really “date night” material, as the venue is small so it is exceptionally noisy. There was live entertainment but not quite conducive to setting the scene for a hot spot. I would recommend however, based on the food alone."

"We went on Valentines day and were informed after we were seated that they had a predetermined menu with limited options and dinner was $55 per person which did not include drinks. After tip this dinner ran $180. For that much money I would have liked to have had more than 4 options for my entree. We're not really desert people but on occasion we'll share one but that night we had 2 large deserts brought out as part of the 3 course meal which half went untouched. This is a nice place and we had a good time but its way overpriced! You can get better meals and have a better experience for half the cost. We also had a $20 promotional coupon from the food festival they wouldn't accept because it was a "special occasion" being V-day"

"The braised pork with the glazed carrots and cheese grits was extremely tender and delicious. My girlfriend got the Atlantic salmon and substituted the side (something with feta cheese) for the indian potato/vegetable side. Unfortunately, she did not enjoy it, but that was mostly her own mistake. Service was alright, we think our waitress was relatively new. Luckily for me most of the menu was already gluten-free so I didn't have trouble finding something to eat, however our waitress seemed slightly confused about what was safe. The mood could have been a little more romantic but it was nice. The two person tables are relatively close together, but I've come to expect that from Atlanta restaurants."

"This was our first time at Tantra. We reserved an early dinner time for Valentine's evening as we had later plans and felt we could be the craziness in. When we arrived there were only 4 or so other tables seated but by the time we left it was packed. The service was extremely slow even though we were in well before the rush. Pity-the-fools that were there later in the night. The fixed menu selections were limited. The appetizer selections were paltry. The entrees were good all around our table including my scallops which were served as a small portion but were very tasty. We had to take dessert to go as we were made late by the slow service. We had a Zagat coupon but it never got applied and we had to go."

"My husband and I had our belated Valentine's dinner here. We first enjoyed the Persian crab cakes as an appetizer with lots of fresh herbs, tomatoes and spices. The crab cakes were not breaded, but held together with egg. Our glasses of wines (and the wine selection) were very good. My husband enjoyed his pork tenderloin entree, and I loved my carmelized sea scallops that melted in my mouth. For dessert we shared the French-style donuts with a cream filling with a coffee flavoring that was delicious."

"Pleasant surprise. Limited menu with some tasty options. GREAT cocktails. The lamb sirloin was divine but the eggplant frites were soggy, as eggplant can be when fried. Delicious scallops. Our waitress was welcoming, extremely friendly and made some great menu suggestions.

Didn't have dessert because the dessert menu looked more like an Italian dessert menu than anything else. After the the uber-Middle Eastern menu, I was looking forward to some rice pudding but was presented with a flourless chocolate torte. No thanks!

Overall, good experience. Will be returning."

"Service goes a long way with my wife and I. That wasn't the case the night we visited the restaurant. Was seated 25 min. After our reservation time. Then it took another 15 before our server came. Everytime she came to the table we felt rushed until it was time to sign the check. The food was great and for that reason only we may revisit."
