"The cold pork belly bisquit wrapped in paper like Mcdonalds along with a side of cold tator tots started it. Then the chewy flank steak with bbq sauce that tasted like ketchup followed by a peanut butter sandwhich dessert. Also, they were out of the bread basket so we got served some type of really bad bread that I could not tell you what it was. Maybe that was the kids menu and no wonder kids 5 and under got to eat free but it was not listed as such. This is the second time I have been there. The asparagus soup and pork was good, I guess I picked the wrong options."

"What a wonderful Mother's day brunch we had. 2 adults and one kid - prix fixe menu at $20 for the kiddo eating from exactly the same menu. So we shared 3 x 3 different courses for $120. Amazing value. Fantastic trout, great pulled pork, delicious snapper. Desserts were great too (with the possible exception of the basil ice cream - that would have well with a tomato based appetizer, but not dessert). And Stephen Pyles was there on Mothers Day, spending a few minutes at each table with all the patrons. Unexpected that such a great chef who has many restaurants still spends time in his kitchen and talks to customers! We felt very welcome."

"Having to meet a client for lunch while in Dallas from Australia for a conference, a former Dallas girl recommended Stephan Pyles. She said: "Stephen Pyles is probably the most famous Dallas chef. His style as haute Southwestern fusion. I love his restaurant and it’s definitely a Dallas Institution". Not a bad summary - elegant and understated exterior, stylish interior, pleasant and efficient service and excellent food. Sadly, time constraints meant only a main course and glass of wine - Taco salad for me and a burrito for him sounds ordinary but the content and taste were outstanding. A glass of Willamette pinot and a very good coffee made up a lunch that was successful in every way. The place was full - I am not surprised."

"Had the southwestern caesar salad, which was swimming in dressing and unremarkable except for tasty croutons. Main was steak and a very greasy bit of short rib meat (that was redundant of the amuse bouche). Nothing special on either count, but steak was properly cooked (thank goodness for sous vide). The real downsides to the meal foodwise were the desserts. Had expresso creme brulee (fair) and beignets (hard and unpleasant). My guest barely touched what he ordered. The noise level is beyond energetic; you can't have a conversation without almost shouting. I wouldn't return here unless someone were taking me out and this restaurant is what they chose.

"Needs noise control...brick walls make ambiance too .loud. Table was not ready when we arrived..but no big deal. Except bar was crowded. Food was good...but took 1.5 hours to get our meal. Steak was really nice. Ceasar needs some work...pretty dry and pathetic. Bonus dessert was nice touch. Good wine. Server was very responsive even if the kitchen was so slow he tried."

"Excellent food, with very creative menu and cocktail options. Plates were impeccably compiled with multiple reductions and accents to add flavors (including cheese pop rocks in the amazing fois gras compilation.). Stephen Pyles stopped by, which was fun. Very knowledgeable staff. had to ask for water a couple of times, but overall service was fine. More lively than the Mansion or French Room, yet food still outstanding."

"We took two out of town guests to Stephan Pyles for dinner at 8:00 on a Saturday night. I had only been to SP once before about three years ago and was blown away by how good everything was and was excited to finally go again.
The restaurant on a beautiful Saturday night was sparse and I was soon to find out why. We first had the ceviche sampler which was excellent. We ordered two Sea Bass market price, a Beef Tenderloin/Crisp Beef Short Rib, and a Bone in Ribeye. The Sea Bass tasted more like Tilapia than Sea Bass and was nothing special, my Tenderloin was two small strips of beef with a small burned short rib, the Ribeye was OK. The desert a lemon/strawberry concoction was so bad we all had just one bite. Bill was $360. I cant recommen"

"Guest ordered Salmon, they were not impressed nor displeased. I ordered Flat Steak. Really complex flavor under the steak in the compote. Really really good. Smoked crispy Brussels Sprouts were original, not oily yet flavored like a great olive oil/salt taste. Really really good. Then Caesar salad was uninspired. My guess is, there are items on this menu that are cared about, and other items that are fillers. I'm ok with that. I want the best a chef has and don't care about the rest. This was a bus lunch. I will use this place again and I want to explore for dinner at my leisure. I've been chipping away at my top 10 chef's restaurants in Dallas. Flavor was up there with the best. I like it!"

"The restaurant is conveniently located across the street from the arts district so it was a nice break from the galleries. We had reservations for a late lunch so there was no crowd to deal with and had the full attention of the staff. The environment was very warm and inviting with an open display kitchen located center stage. I always enjoy the activity of an open kitchen. My partner and I both had a fish dish and we were both very happy with our decision. I had their menu offering salmon which I was told is one of their more popular dishes and I completely understand why with awesome complex but light flavors. My partner had the special snapper on shrimp and grits and they were equally as good. I highly recommend this restaurant."

"The restaurant has a very modern and vibrant feel, however there were very few customers for a Friday night. We started with cocktails at the bar, my wife had the Passion Chile Margarita & I had the Old Fashioned. Excellent drinks, bar staff very friendly & helpful. Oysters & pork jowl for appetizers both good, not great. Halibut (recommendation from waiter) was dry and uneventful, 22oz. bone-in-ribeye covered in four stories of onion strings (cooked perfectly to medium rare) too much seasoning for USDA Prime meat. Wines list was good and affordable, Pinot from Oregon & France did not break the bank. "Had vendors in from out of town and out of country. Restaurant is close by office and has a unique local menu. Everyone was very pleased with their meal choices which ranged from signature salads to enchiladas of the day to fish of the day. Wait staff did an excellent job of taking care of us just the right amount. Thanks for helping me to have a successful meeting with an important vendor."

"The service and attention to customer needs are exceptional. The food was prepared exceptionally well with the exception of the "Capirotada." It was a major disappointment. The waiter was good but too pretentious. He knew we had been there before but insisted on providing direction."

"I went here with my gf...AWESOME! Presentations were artistic and modern, desserts were AMAZING...get the donuts and coffee brulee! Main courses were excellent! "Pyles never disappoints. Foie Gras is the best way to start (perhaps any meal) and they seem to switch up the presentation every so often to keep it interesting. The wine list isn't steak house huge but has a wide variety and a few half bottles to choose from. I almost always get the caesar salad (primarily for the crutons) and whatever the special is. Service is always solid. This is a great go-to place that you can usually get in last minute (surprisingly)."

"Haven't been here since it opened a long while ago so thought we try it out again. It was good but the service was just ok. It just took so long for everything to occur... from providing us a menu at the beginning to getting our first drink. Food was good but I think I need to try more to really give a accurate review.
Otherwise it was good... just not great. Not that I want to bring up another restaurant but I guess I'm just expecting to receive the service that I do when I go to Nick & Sams.....

"As always Stephan Pyles was a wonderful dining experience. My family and I were treated like royalty and ate like kings & queens as well. The attention given to my 5 year old daughter was especially remarkable. This is her (and my) favorite restaurant by a mile. My only regret is that we do not get to this amazing restaurant more often."

"The overall experience was wonderful. This one did not live up to my Star Canyon experience. I had the ribeye; The meat was tough for that cut and the birds nest of onion strings was comical. The overall flavor was good, but for $48, I expect a better cut of meat. My wife and I had two courses a piece, no alcohol, and desert, with tip $170.00. I expect a little better. Overall, it was good."

"I requested that the fish dish of the day be altered to be a healthier version.Asked that the fish be simply grilled and any side dish switched to grilled vegetables.Was told "no problem" and 3 of us ordered the same. The dish we got was watery fish, yellow corn, and green beans. NO grilled anything. I ate barely anything along with at least one at the table who had followed my lead. The waiter never asked or acknowledged the issue. We paid and left and I would never go back. We eat at high end restaurants frequently and have never had a kitchen do such a poor job of a healthy request."
