"This was our first time at La Bodega, & we loved it! We were celebrating a birthday & it was a major theme for the evening from the hostess to our waitress to the manager who stopped by to wish my partner a happy day. The food is flavorful and was just enough to share between the two of us. We enjoyed the drink specials for spring - jalepeno lemonade was my favorite - quite a kick & delicious! Happy hour is a great deal with selected 1/2 price tapas. We were impressed with the service, food, and attentive staff. Only negative to the entire experience is the proximity of tables to each other. There is no private conversations to be had since you sit practically with the surrounding tables. But, easy enough to get over with food & drink."

"Used to be one of our favorites. This was the first time we've been in at least two years. The food was very disappointing. Hot plates were coming out warm. One plate we sent back because one side was Luke warm and the other side was almost hot. The stuffed red peppers were stuffed with old stale chewy rice. We also had to ask for a basket of bread when all the other tables clearly had bread just brought to them. It was very sad to see what it has turned into. We will not be visiting again any time soon."

"My wife and I just love this little restaurant. The Tapas are very good but somewhat spicy. As a native spaniard, I'm always very dissappointed with American restaurants that assume Mexican meals are Spanish. Spain is in Europe and European meals are not spicy. The noise level in the restaurant is very, very high and makes it hard to speak."

"I have always loved La Bodega, but I was extremely disappointed with our service on my last visit. The waitress took our sangria before we were finished, boxed up food before we were done eating (without asking), and took away our bread and plates without asking and before we were finished. It was so rude that I didn't bother to complain. In the future I will stick with restaurants where the wait staff won't push out our table so quickly."

"La Bodega has always been one of my favorite restaurants in Kansas City. I will continue to recommend it to anyone new to town, or visitors wanting a unique experience. The only downside to this visit was the Paella Abanda. The fish was obviously not the least bit fresh, and the smell made it impossible for me to eat. I order that dish every time that I dine there, and it was unfortunate that I could not even touch it. The staff was gracious enough to relocate my party to a different table, so I did not want to impose by complaining about the food, as well. This will not deter me from returning. I still love the restaurant and will just think twice about ordering the Paella in the future."

"The sangrias were just as great as I had heard! I went with a group of girls so we shared the tapas and an entree! It was just the right amount of food! Our server was pretty busy with other tables, but the manager stepped in and made sure we were taken care of! I will definitely be returning!"

"My husband and I have heard such great things about La Bodega. We were excited to try it but very let down. If you like sangria this is the place for you, but if you like food... you need to find another place. We had two appitizers(the entire menu is appitizers)and a salad and we spent $60. We left feeling very hungry. What I ate was good, but not that good and certainly not filling. We tried it, but not our favorite by far."

"They have an amazing selection of tapas, and the food is outstanding. The service is prompt and friendly as well. The ambience is really vibrant and fun. I will be back on my next trip to KC for sure!!"
