Derived from the Hindi word meaning passion, Junoon delivers on the promise of its moniker with an authentic, yet elegantly modern take on Indian cuisine. Restaurateur Rajesh Bhardwaj, inspired by his deep affinity and commitment to the food and culture of his native India, has assembled a talented team, who share his same vision including celebrated chef and cookbook author, Vikas Khanna, helming Junoon's kitchen as Executive Chef.
Junoon offers fare from all over the country, and—for the first time ever in one restaurant—features its five most important techniques of cooking: Handi (pot cooking), Sigri (open fire pit), Pathar (stone), Tawa (griddle) and Tandoor (clay oven).

"Reservation for 8pm but seated at 9.55pm and didn't get to order until 10.30pm! Dinner took ages to arrive, was lukewarm, totally mediocre and NOT worthy of a supposedly fine restaurant. Service was friendly but unexceptional. Kitchen staff had noisy altercation that we witnessed and maitre d ended up helping in the kitchen! All in, it was a terrible dining experience. Add the cost of extending sitters' charges for both couples and the hours spent waiting for the table and it was a disappointing experience. Had the food been worthy, it would have salvaged some of the night. Unfortunately it wasn't. We are Tamarind fans but chose Junoon because of proximity to where our guests were staying. We would not recommend Junoon to anyone."

"If your preference is for authentic Indian food, served by knowledgeable staff, in an elegant environment, then this is the place!

"This is not our first time here but tonight's meal was exceptional. The bartender went out of his way to make custom cocktails not offered on the menu, great start. We really appreciate the variety, both in regions and cooking methods. Every dish is flavorful without being super spicy (unless that is what you want). Especially enjoyed the lamb chops and the lobster curry. Not to be missed if you are in the area! Great for lunch as well."

"Our dining experience was great as was the service and ambiance.
But the reservation was a disaster. I was promised a high chair (which the restaurant reconfirmed the day before the reservation) but then told us there was no high chair when we got to the restaurant. DO NOT bring toddlers here.
Also was told the lunch prix fixe menu would be available despite it being Mother's Day. Again when we got there we were told its not available."

"Service was poor. It took ages for drinks, then for food to arrive. We had a reservation at 6.30 am and I was meant to receive 1000 points but restaurant only gave us a 100.
Food was nothing special.
After receiving a very spicy appetizer we asked to go easy on our main dishes in terms of spice. However the Dahl was given to us with big chunks of green chilli which made the dish so spicy that I was unable to taste the rest of the food.

"here is better Indian food out there in NYC for the price you pay for it. portions are tiny. ambiance and the deco is great which kind of made up for the service. Have a lot of friends inquire about the place but i don't think i would give a glowing recommendation.need to improve service esp on weekends and days anticipated to be busy. if were paying high end prices for the food and the ambiance at least make it classy so we dont feel like were in a "ghetto joint". maybe some more basic training for the front end girls for customer service will make some more patrons happy."

"What a wonderful experience at a truly wonderful restaurant. Welcome was warm and friendly and staff very attentive. Had the taster menu and matching wine tasting and is was just adorable. A lovely mouche bouche was followed by very tasty cold pea soup and various cooking techniques of lotus root which was very pleasant indeed. The main course of curried Lobster (although a little hot for my partner) was without doubt the finest curry I have ever eaten, it was just delightful. The spiced lamb chops followed that were to die for followed by 2 excellent desserts (my partner having a special dessert as it was her 50th birthday week). Any curry fiends from the UK heading to New York wanting a special treat then this is an absolute must!"

"Junoon has some of the best Indian food in the city. However the bar was mediocre, with the staff being less than friendly. The drinks were overpriced and average. I would skip it and just go for dinner.
The food and service were exceptional,....until the restaurant reached 30% capacity as that point the service slowed to the point we had to act when our food was arriving. If they keep this up they will not be in business for much longer. They need to have their service match the level of their food.
At this point there is a major disconnect between the great food and poor service . I am giving them three stars because the food was delicious."

"An Indian friend recommended this place for our trip to NYC. My wife and I are vegetarians. We had the vegetarian tasting menu. Everything was creative, delicious, with a pleasing variety of flavors. The price was not unreasonable considering the quality of food and service. We were pleasantly surprised that our waitress immediately knew of our vegetarian preference and my wife's food intolerance and allergies, which I had included with our Open Table reservation. I've provided similar information with reservations to other high end restaurants and found the information was lost or ignored. My glass of Pinot Noir was excellent. All in all, I recommend this restaurant highly for anyone interested in a vegetarian food adventure."

"Walking in felt like a posh London Indian restaurant. Quickly off to our table, and seated. Very nice, large room with tables of actual Indian people enjoying themselves - so this must be good... and it was even better than that - it was great. Somehow they made Cauliflower taste like General Tsang's chicken. Just amazing. Also had the Fried eggplant which were like potato chips - also great. They have many adventurous main courses but we aren't into goat, lamb, etc... so we went with Lobster Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala. Again - off the charts good. Delicious naans also. Chutney sampler too. Overall, the best we've had in NY other than Tamarind in Tribeca. Hey, you get what you pay for."

"This was our second visit to Junoon; we returned because our first experience was excellent. Not so this time. The menu was more limited, the server less knowledgeable. We shared dishes. While the cauliflower and shrimp piri piri appetizers were tasty, serving three shrimp to two people is miserly, especially at the price. We ordered lobster and goat as mains. We found that the sauce overwhelmed the lobster; the goat, however, was delicious."

"The prix-fixe menu was a good choice to experience the tastes this restaurant had to offer. The food itself was fine and boasting with flavours - the lobster curry being a bit too hot for our taste, the waiting staff offered us some raita to smooth out the burn. The service was nice and friendly, but still at times a bit clumsy and a gave out a feeling of inexperience. Overall, this was a nice restaurant, which I could recommend further."

"My 2 cents :
- Service is fast and good
- We ordered Eggplant Chaat and Lehsuni Gobhi for the appetizers and both were awsome.

"I selected this place for a small group of colleagues to enjoy a birthday lunch with a senior associate we all work closely with. The location was ideal – just a few minutes walking distance from our office in the Flatiron and the food… oh, the food… incredible! The $20 Pre-Fix menu was perfect and the presentation was amazing! Service if very deliberate here; I felt the luxury of India. I can’t wait to go back!"

"For vegetarians very limited choices. Pundi Chole (chick peas) were cooked with baking side, you could smell and taste the soda.
The kofta was very dry but in a pleasant sauce. If you are looking for a glass of lassi, you will get in a half small glass of wine.

"food overall very good(not great )and somewhat overpriced . may need to change menu font as place is very dark and several people throughout took out smartphone app flashlights to read.
Beautiful atmosphere but in no rush to go back. Ordeded 2 apps, bread, 2 main dishes, (along with rice which is extra), a side of dal (12$), 2 expensive drinks (approx 15 each) and waiter still tried to upsell us on extras albeit in a nice way.
Havent been upscale Indian since Tabla closed...still loooking"

"We had the 19.95 prix fixe lunch which allows you to choose one appetizer and one main dish. You then get your choice of nan or rice. I opted for an optional aloo paratha, and my companion and I shared the breads and rice.
You do not get any papadum, chutney or onion kulcha with this meal. We both plumped for the noorani (like a reshmi) kebab which was four small slices with a bit of green sauce. I had the vegetarian nafti kofta and my colleague had the hydrabadi chicken dish. Both were excellent but the portions were too small. I would much rather have paid $24.95 for an adequate portion. The choice of bread or rice is also a bit parsimonious. Charge me $24.95, give me bread and rice, and a bit of papadum. Good glass of Gewurztraminer."
