"I booked this lunch well in advance as I was meeting with a very special colleague during a conference for our annual lunch conversation. This was the perfect spot. The food was great, he enjoyed his chicken and said it was perfectly cooked. I really appreciated my delicious seafood salad, perfectly cooked shrimp, scallops and salmon. And neither of us could resist desert - chocolate mousse - a very generous serving, with lovely fresh fruit.
The restaurant was full of quiet, refined business people, also enjoying their lunch. Highly recommended."

"This restaurant is perfect, especially for business dinners and special occasions. I have taken many business associates here, and the food, ambience and noise level work very well. The food, especially the daily whole fish, have never disappointed.
Finding myself in Toronto for my birthday, this was the restaurant I chose. They started me off with something special, and really set the mood for the evening. The service was perfect, and I spent the entire evening enjoying three courses of healthy, fresh and quality food."

"This was my second time there and my last. Our waitress was good but when we finished our salad another waitress came to clear our plates and asked if we wanted dessert or coffee I said we would like our main course. She gave us attitude and asked if we were done with the bread. There are too many options around the downtown core to bother with a restaurant that have a waitress like that!"

"Although the food was very good, it wasn't unique enough to pique my interest and feel like I got value for money. I tend to frequent places with character, that have something different to offer, with a fun comfortable environment.
Food wise, it's greek food, but finely prepared - still a little overpriced for portion size and preparation effort. The phyllo pastry is something that is usually made in mass quantities and cut up, as is the baklava. I'm not undermining the preparation as I'm not an expert, but $30 for a small plate with a salad that had barely any dressing or effort, isn't something I want to spend my money on.
HOWEVER, they do offer a great $36 prix-fixe menu that made it all seem a little bit more worth it"

"We decided to try Volos due to its location near the opera and ACC. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The room is comfortable and uncluttered. The food ranged from good to delicious. The watermelon and feta salad was simple and delightful, accented by fresh mint. The moussaka was a refined vernon, without the cloying richness of some. The meatballs were also delicious, nicely spiced with a tangy tomato sauce. The sausages, a listed specialty, were fine but not particularly distinguishable from other sausages. Similarly the dolmades were of good quality, but not remarkable. There was also a simple and pleasing dessert of yoghurt with Metaxa figs."

"Mostly the focus was really on the great food. Everything else was fine but not excellent (eg service was a bit slow but not ridiculously long)
There were five of us, we ordered the grilled octopus by the servers reco (excellent), and the saganaki (pretty standard but always delicious)
Of our meals, the best were the seafood kleftiko, the braised lamb shank, and the moussaka (the other two ordered the scallops and the orzo which were ok but definitely nothing special)
For dessert we shared the figs and yogurt and the saffron pistachio ice cream. Both weren't very sweet desserts and the ice cream took some time to get used to as its more earthy tasting and a bit grainy. Not great if you want something decadent but good as top offs"

"The food was excellent, particularly the lamb, of which, between us, we had both variants.
Only downside was that we were moved through a little too quickly. It was clear that, if we didn't take too long, then they'd be able to use the table again that evening and so it felt a little like we were on a conveyor belt.
That apart, it was a good evening and we'd go there again."

"Not a "WOW" experience, but good. Too expensive though, for what it was. The food was good tasting, better than average for sure, but not drop dead excellent. Also, for what the prices were, the portions were very small. The service for a table of 4 seemed semi-interested at best. The restaurant was not packed, so there's no reason we should have had to wait what felt like half an hour for offer of coffee/dessert after our meal.
The atmosphere was very nice, but I get the feeling that this is a spot for business lunches rather than a nice (non-business) evening out. Overall, there are better options in Toronto. For that reason, I probably would not go there again, not because it was horrible (it wasn't), but just not worth it overall."

"This is my second time at VOLOS and I have to say its been really good both times. Service is really good, food is really good and ambience is really good. I travel a lot and make it a point to go to great places to eat and this is one of them if you are in Toronto. Octopus is great and Whole Fish. pricey for what you get but good."

The baklava dessert was as hard as a rock and pretty dry.
It would have been wonderful for other vegetarian options instead of just the vegetarian pasta and the few appetizers. (I did think the dolmades were excellent)
I'll make the trek to the Danforth next time I'm craving Greek food."

"Pleasant Greek food. We were quite happy with our salad and fish dishes. My enthusiasm for this place is based on the very impressive staff. They had plenty of clients to attend to -- and some who were clearly running bigger tabs -- but they were attentive to every detail at our table. "Had lunch. Went with the Avgolemono soup which was surprisingly bland and then the grilled whole fish special (mediterranean sea bass) which was delicious. Skin crispy, meat moist and well flavoured. If I had only had the soup I would have listed the food as fair but the fish more than made up for the soup. My friend had 2 starters - the calamari and the octopus - and he thought they were delicious. Perfectly cooked. Wine list is ok.
Service was uninspired, may have been a new server but he forgot a couple of basics - like bringing our drinks at the same time, clearing empty plates, filling water glasses.

"We loved Volos. The grilled octopus and saganaki were excellent. The sea bass was tasty and flaky, the exohico wonderfully rich. Our server was helpful, friendly, and attentive (but not in your face). Great place!"

"Beautiful decor and we especially love how the restaurant line the smaller tables along the hall where one could overlook the semi-open kitchen. Seafood was outstanding. However, a few dishes needed spice to make them interesting. Service was attentive and not overbearing."

"The food was over-salty, the moussaka being quite poor indeed, without any taste. When we arrived, we were ushered to our seats with our coats in hand - I stopped a waiter who kindly took our coats for us. Definitely not a place to go!"

"Went here for Winterlicious - absolutely incredible, I could see why it was listed in the top 10 restaurants to check out for Winterlicious 2013!
Had the Tiger Prawn Saganaki, which had some incredible flavours in the "saganaki sauce". Also, the Cornish Hen which was extremely flavourful and done to perfection. My sister had the lamb which was just falling off of the bone. I'm normally not a big lamb fan but it was pretty amazing.
For desert I had the flourless chocolate cake, which was great, but not a standout compared to the rest of the meals. My sister had the pressed greek yogurt and raved about it.
The service was really good, and the hostess was very friendly. The atmosphere is really gorgeous - definitely would reccomend!"
