"Thanks Alex!! He was our awesome and accomadating server!! We were celebrating and cheering our friend who was scheduled to have her ACL surgery. Our group grew larger than our orginal reservation but Alex didn't bat an eye and moved us to a booth when it became available. The food was great and I can't wait to eat there again.

The food was delicious -- you have to try the coffee/donut dessert, and the fig/pancetta/gorgonzola pizza -- but the service was really the best part. "I've been a long time patron of their Chinatown location so I thought I'd try this location. So so so happy they are on open table now. Waiting for hours used to get old. Most of the menu is the same with a few twists to make this location unique. Of course the mini burgers can't be beat and are a must as well as the fruit pizza. Yum. Something new that is also amazing is the potato and shrimp pizza. A masterpiece."

"I love the food and wine selections here, but our service was awful this time. After we were seated, it took the server 20 minutes to even come see us and then they messed up our salad orders. You'd think with all that hassle, they'd offer complimentary desserts or a discount on our bill, but nothing beyond a simple "sorry" was offered. When you delay people's meals by over half an hour, I expect a little more."

"Met a friend for a business lunch. Table was ready upon arrival. Our server was engaging, attentive, knowledgeable of the specials and responsive to our sluggishness getting into the menu (we were so involved catching up that we neglected the menu!). Our entrees were perfectly prepared; the meal was hot and delicious. We never had to ask for a drink refill as the attentive server took care of that without any prodding from us. Pacing was ideal for a business lunch. Great value for price paid. Matchbox Capitol Hill is definitely on my short list of lunch destinations when I'm meeting folks near the Navy Yard. Convenient access from Eastern Market Metro Station."

"I had Kendrick as a server (2nd time). He is the worse server I have experienced in a long time. I gave him the benefit of the doubt the first time, but really? to describe it here wouldn't work because there aren't enough characters in this box."
