"We went for my daughters 19th birthday and we had a great time. We happened to go during Restaurant Week so they had a couple specials that we took advantage of. The food was delicious and the bread and butter was to die for. The noise level did get a bit loud by the end of the meal but we made the most of it. The waiter brought a creme brûlée with a candle for my daughter for her 'birthday cake' and we all took a couple bites from it. The food is a little pricey but worth every penny. We continue to come back for special occasions so we much enjoy it!"

"Had made reservations for seven, four adults, two teens and six year old. The hostes sat us as soon as we arrived.
The server came by quickly to get our drink orders and let us know of their specials. She was very attentive throughout our stay and was very good with the six year old.
The children all had burgers and fries. The special was a large sea-food/shrimp cocktail. More than enough for a meal. Was excellent. After the meal the server brought a small birthday dessert with candle.......all quite dignified, no silliness that some places do.
All in all a very nice meal, celebration of a families. Birthday and time spent."

"We felt very comfortable on the outdoor patio. There was a loose canopy high above us, which allowed a nice air flow and also let any noise from other tables to escape. I had the 8 oz. Filet. It was amazing. The meat melted in your mouth. It came with cauliflower mash [which you couldn't tell that it wasn't potatoes,] and portabello mushrooms."

"Average "chain restaurant food" - boring. Entrees overpriced given they were just standard fare. Server was nowhere to be seen and we had to ask repeatedly for water to be filled, for more bread etc. Other servers appeared very attentive to their tables, however. Provided feedback to manager, as we think that is important. Nothing to write home about, that's for sure. We don't plan to return. Unfortunate, as the view from the patio was great. Our friend did say this is the first time he hasn't had good food and great service at this restaurant."

"Got there early for an 8:30 reservation. Waited until 8:55 when I asked for the manager. The check in staff was rude and acted as if we should be honored to be dining with them no matter how long the wait. Very unprofessional."

Would not have been as frustrating if the server told us up front instead of 1 at a time as one of us was ordering a sold out dish. Holiday menu planning seemed to be significantly off unfortunately as was the server.

"We tried eating here during the busy spring season and it was crazy busy. Decided to go back once the crowds left and see what made this place so popular.

"The food was delicious as usual; the service was not that good. It was Mother's Day, we ate early (5:30 pm) before the rush. The food was terrific - our waiter Ryan was so so. He didn't really seem interested in serving us and disappeared for a long time - we had to ask other waiters for refills, etc. The food was delivered in pieces - two dinners, then another , then another... made for everyone waiting for the final dinner and cold food for some.
As I said - it was early and wasn't that busy - could have had more attention to detail and true enthusiasm."

"We come for lunch whenever we are in Palm Desert. It gets really busy, but now takes Open Table reservations all day. Come early at 11:30 a.m. and you will have your choice of tables--by 12:30 it's full. We usually dine on the appetizers--the ahi tuna tacos and the tuna Napoleon are our favorites, as well as the seafood Gazpacho soup, if it's being offered as a special. The prices are high but the servings generous. The margaritas are good too!"

"Tommy Bahamas can be really crowded with a long wait, but last week we ate their twice at 11:30 for an early lunch and found it quiet and comfortable with attentive service. Palm Desert can be unbearably hot but the patio with shade is nice and makes me feel like I'm on vacation. The appetizers are delicious and although pricy are nice portions. It's hard for us to get past the tuna Napoleon and the ahi tuna tacos. The cold gazpacho soup with large shrimp, if it's offered as a special, is wonderful too. The margarita is fresh and good. Very nice lunches, twice."

"We had purchased a wine bag (from downstairs store), for $38.00. Having done that, you can bring a bottles of wine and they waive the corkage fee. Normal fee is $20.00. So within two visits you've pretty much paid for the cost of the bag. And, most importantly brought your own wonderful bottle of vintage wine. We almost always order the ribs, but are finding them a little overcooked. If its fish you are hungry for, go to the Crab Pot where they have daily fresh fish and 30% less costs. Although that restaurant is not nearly as trendy. So, basically at Tommy's you are paying for the name and to say you ate there."

"Happy that we used Open Table as the restuarant was VERY busy shortly after we were seated. (we were seated right away for Rezzies @ 11:30 am) Our waiter was OK. Would have liked to have him come by a couple of times for drink order / refresh. He did eventually come by. We were sitting outside and I think he had other tables inside, that is why we couldn't find / see him about. But he was very nice & friendly.
Outside saeting is great, patio is covered and they have mister's. (it was 95+ degrees) Inside seating, seemed very loud when we walked through to leave.

"Have eaten there many times in the past, and it's now been a few years. Compared to times prior, it was disappointing. Our waiter was very poor in many ways. Felt very ignored. Had to ask to have r candle lit on the table. He was not at all professional. It wasn't like he didn't know what he was doing, it was like he really didn't care. A girlfriend and I were celebrating r birthdays at what I'd consider a special resturant, and would think twice before going back"

However, the hostess sat us just outside the door to the patio, with high traffic and no view, even though there were numerous tables available at better locations throughout the patio, especially at 8:30 pm. Consideration should be given to the customer's best experience and not where the next waiter's table is in their rotation assignment. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience."

When I complained that my bright red cosmo was too sweet, they added a shot of vodka then charged me $8.00 extra, on top of the $12.00 they originally charged. Not worth it!! Better drinks, way cheaper at $6.00, at Pacifica down the way. Won't be coming back to Tommys."

"Went with 6 kids and when we sat down we got a waiter that appeared not so happy that he was going to serve us...15 min later we got a fantastic waiter that was very attentive and told us she had 3 kids of her own! Great food and good kids menu!"

"We had a group of 9 folks, and the waiter was very gracious to us. Not the ideal for any waiter, ho, ho! First time we'd been since the outside patio had been renovated, and miss the previous ambiance which felt much more tropical, intimate and welcoming. The large umbrella shade was fine, but the deck needed more plants, color, etc. Menu changes were noted. The ahi avocado stack was sorely missed, although the ahi tacos were great."

"Food was so-so. The menu has changed significantly a couple of times over the last year and a half- and, in most cases, not for the better. It was very loud and crowded. At this point it's probably a better place to go and drink than it is a restaurant."

"Did not have wine available on wine list, and no comparable replacement for Quintessa.. It took 45 minutes to get bread! Our server kept saying it wasnt ready? Seems that they are cutting costs in many areas, not the least if these being service training.The drinks were visibly lacking in pour, the service was very slow and quality of food was lacking. We said years ago we would not go back after similar experience but thought we would try
one more time, this was a mistake. Reservation was for 7:30, we were served our food at approximately 9:30!
We will not go back, sad to waste a family vacation evening in such a disappointing way."

"The rooftop setting is very open, spacious and provides a wonderful view of the mountains from virtually any table. The restaurant has a very relaxing ambiance. The food was very good. The crab bisque was flavorful and served hot. The braised short rib - delicious. The brussel sprouts were perfectly cooked. My friends Thai Shrimp and Scallops had a lovely lemongrass flavor. The Pina Colada cake was just average, but the Malted Chocolate Pie was very good. I wouldn't recommend a restaurant just for the view, but with the view, ambiance, plus good food - it is worth it."
