"Six of us had a great time celebrating my son's graduation. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding. The crab cakes were loaded with crab. The broiled seafood platter had a generous selection and amount of items that were nicely prepared. The halibut special received high marks. It was a great dining experience."

Our dishes varied from the crab cakes to the Chilean Sea Bass, the salmon and a shrimp pasta dish. Everyone enjoyed their individual entrees. One of the soups of the day was the Maryland crab, which was full of vegetables and very good - the only comment from some being that it had a little too much spicy crab seasoning. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will return.
The restaurant can be a little noisy since it is a neighborhood favorite and is usually always crowded."

"I've had their crab cakes and stuffed shrimp stuffed before; very good. This time I was really craving a rib eye steak. Brought my appetite & shared a Pappas sampler to start off. The sampler (poppers,fried onion rings, mozzarella sticks) was a bland. The skins on the peppers in the poppers were tough and the entire pepper pulled out of the crust on the first bite; an experience shared by everyone at the table who tried one. The ribeye was a nice size, looked great, but had very little flavor. It was disappointing, especially for a $23 entree. Salad and blue cheese dressing was also very generic. I suspect that the appetizers were thawed and fried. If I crave a crab cake, I may go back. But won't bother with any appetizer or a meat entree."

"We have been house hunting in the area for two months. There is nothing like a good meal after a long afternoon of evaluating potential places to live. We have dined at Pappas three times in two months and two of the three experiences were excellent (first and third). We recommend Pappas and look forward to dining there when we are residents in the area. You simply must try the crab cakes if you have not done so already!"

"Everything at Pappas is friendly from the little plate of pickled cucumbers thst they place on the table to the menu which is straight forward and extensive. But the star is crab meat , whether in Imperial Crab or the fantastic all lump crab cake. One wonders who those people are eating pork chops, although they looked delicious. Don't expect any bells or whistles, but don't miss this mecca of lump crab."

"We went to Pappas for Mother's Day dinner this past Saturday evening. Even at 5pm, the restaurant was already full. Three of us had the make-your-own pasta with seafood, which was delicious. My husband had the rack of lamb which was a little bit overcooked but still good. We brought our one-year-old daughter and they were able to accommodate her. The service was good...our waitress was friendly and the wait for food was totally reasonable. In general, Pappas is a reliable, traditional place in the neighborhood."

"Everything was homemade and absolutely delicious. I had the stuffed shrimp with mashed potatoes and a salad. The crab imperial had HUGE lumps of crab meat with hardly any filler. The mashed potatoes melted in my mouth and the ranch dressing was definitely homemade. It may be the best homemade ranch I have ever had. My husband had a porterhouse steak which was huge and cooked to perfection. His meal came with 2 vegetables or a vegetable and a salad AND a cup of soup. He ordered the shrimp bisque and it was very tasty. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend, and already have. We will be back again."

"Pappas Restaurant is not known for it's ambiance, and the Friday evening we were there was very crowded and very loud. What do expect in a local restaurant where the wait staff knows a lot of the regulars who come there for the food - and the food is allows great. You cannot miss with the crab cake here - best in Baltimore and lumps of crab that are huge. Stay within the basics and you find great food here."

"The food at Pappas was good as usual. The ambience was extremely poor. It was Mother's Day weekend and I know it was crowded but..... the table we had was near the front door and the hostess kept yelling "Name " party of five etc.... The services was beyond slow and the screaming hostess made it difficult to hold a conversation."

"This was our second experience at Pappas and it was very different from the first. For starters, even though we had a reservation, we had to wait 22 minutes to be seated. Then another 10 minutes went by before our order was taken. We were traveling and needed to get back onto the road or it would not have been so bad. The waitress was understanding and put our dinner orders right in while she was getting our drinks. My husband and I both liked our main dish - I had the crab cake again and he had the veal marsala this time - but we were both disappointed in the mashed potatoes, which were cold. The asparagus was done just right, not too hard and not too soft. Finally, we were seated in the lower level dining area, much noisier than upstairs."

"This was my first time at Pappas, although my good friend had been before. She is from out-of-town, but used to live in the area so she recommended we met there for dinner. The crab cakes were delicious and I enjoyed the real mashed potatoes. The cole slaw was quite tasty, which is a rare find, too. The staff was very attentive and friendly; I would definitely recommend Pappas to others and plan to go back in the near future as well."

"Food was good. Had the fried oyster lunch with lentil soup. Oysters seemed large but they did have a heavy coating. Soup was excellent. Had to ask for my iced tea to be refreshed.
My companion and I sat next to the divider with spindles that sets off the foyer at the top of the stairs. Looks like your cleaning staff could pay a little more attention to dusting dark, flat surfaces. The divider couldn't have gotten that dusty just in a day or two. On leaving and going down the stairway where the chandelier hangs--come on, get your cleaners to occasionally clean those glass globes. Just a few small things that would really make me feel good about eating at Pappas. How clean is the kitchen?"

"Mixed review. Brought out of town guests on our first visit. Hostess too harried to check in our reservation, avoided eye contact, just put us in a center table where we were in everybody's way.
Crab cakes were absolutely outstanding!!! Maryland crab soup was perfect!! Orange roughy was delicious.
Oyster platter was almost uneatable--few small oysters padded together in lots of undone doughy breading.
Server was pleasant.

"Our experience at Pappas was very good. We have been to Pappas on several occasions, but we experience the expanded dining rooms and they were spacious to accomodate large parties. There were serveral large parties along with our and there was plenty of space between parties. the food was excellent and the servers were pleasant. We will go again."
