Welcome to the The Duck! We are proud to have our master chefs, Enrico Giovanello and Nick Zammareli at the helm, serving up delightful new menus that you are sure to fall in love with. Ask our professional waitstaff or mixologists about our perfectly created signature cocktails, ice cold local draft beer selections, or an artfully paired glass of wine. Top it all off with Chef Patrick Farrelly's signature 'Pattycakes' desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth.
"This was our first time here since it was the Ugly Duckling / Whistling Swan. We wanted to do something different for Mother's Day, everyone that comes to visit us loves the ambiance of the country setting we live in, taking full advantage of Sturbridge and all it brings. The Duck did not disappoint. The open beam dark wood barn setting is exactly what we had hoped for, the kid friendly environment is what we needed, the attention to dietary restrictions was so important, having a Gluten Free menu was a major plus, and then the service and the food for everyone at the table, party of 7, was amazing. From the Salmon to the scallops and a gluten free menu to the chicken pot pie, everyone was raving about the food and setting."

"We chose to try the Duck formy wifes birthday. The appetizers were very good...but my wife and I ordered prime rib and it was tough! The other couple with us had the steak tips and they were very tough. For the $$$$ we were VERY dissapointed. Willl not go back! The service was very good it was the 1 bright spot that we had."

"My husband and I were looking for a dining experience with great wine great food and table cloth type atmosphere - this was a total miss on all counts! The only saving grace was the musical talent that monday night. We will go back if we want a simple sandwich and soft drink with entertainment - otherwise too many other restaurants to choose from in Sturbridge. Disappointed for sure."

"Met a friend from South Windsor CT for lunch. We always meet about half way which is Sturbridge. I had the Chicken Pot Pie and it came in a bowl big enough to serve an entire family but, I ate almost every last bit of it by myself. It was delicious., stocked full of huge chunks of carrots, potatoes, even waxed beans. My friend had the chicken Caesar salad and enjoyed it as well. We were taken care of promptly and consistently but not overbearingly. It was wonderful. Thanks."

"The food and service was good as usual but it is very, very loud in there. They have entertainment - a man or woman playing the guitar and singing which is nice but then everyone talks even louder making it hard to hear the others you are dining with."

"We have been here before and it has always been great (food and atmosphere). But this time the service was really slow. The soup was great, but served cold. The salmon was very good. The prime rib was ordered "Medium" but served rare, and also cold. Wine was good. Deserts were great. It seems as though the restaurant wasn't prepared for the holiday crowd."

"My wife and I came to this restaurant regularly when it was known as "The Ugly Duckling" and always enjoyed ourselves. This was our first visit since it became "The Duck" and we were disappointed in the food. I had the ribeye and my wife had the steak tips both of which were somewhat tough. Maybe it was just a bad day for the chef."

"I was expecting "Fine Dining" so I was a little disappointed when I walked up stairs and saw a small crowded noisy room packed with small tables. Our table was close to the entrance so there was a lot of traffic coming and going. The food was good but not great. I'm not sure if we will ever go back."

"Met with friends for a dinner out. We had a great waitress who was helpful with recommendations and a quiet table, great for conversation. Wine by the glass was very good. We all got the scallops which were quite delicious followed by lattes which were excellent. Atmosphere was warm and inviting."

"First time visitor. The onion soup was outstanding. The best I had in a while. The salad with salmon was tasty and moist and not dry. The chicken pot pie was very good. Could beef up on the veggies a little. Overall, very filling. The meatball sandwich was a little disappointing. The meatballs tasted like they had more fillers and no meat and the bread was a little dried out. Service was a little slow but relaxing. Overall, we had a good experience and would give it another try if we are back in the area."

"Friendly greeters. We were seated immediately; we had reservations. Service was great and we both enjoyed our meals. I ordered Wiener schnitzel with a little trepidation, but was absolutely delighted with the meal although the portion was much too large and I will be enjoying it at home. My husband had the short ribs which were excellent. We both enjoyed dessert and delicious coffee. A very pleasant nice out although a bit noisy. We will definitely return."

"The dinner and drinks at The Duck on Friday night (3/1) was fantastic!!! Our server set the tone for the whole evening when one person in our party of 8, asked how an Espresso Martini was made at The Duck. The waitress smiled and said "How would you like it?" I thought that was a GREAT reply!! Simply ASKING the customer what they would like. I have been to The Duck before and would DEFINITELY go again (and again). From the New England Clam Chodwer appetizer I had, down to the chilled Sambuca to end the night, every bit of the evening was wonderful."

"This was our 2nd visit to The Duck. The first time was 5/5 in all aspects. This time, the service was a bit slow, there was no spaetzle to go with the wienerschnitzel and hardly any dessert choices left by the time we finished lunch. The food that did come, however, was excellent. I will go again but I hope next time they don't run out of as many things."

"There were four of us and I was the only one that enjoyed my food. My friend had salmon, which she said was very good, but veggies were barely cooked. She likes al dente, but these were raw. My husband ordered his steak med well and it was med rare and my friend's husband ordered his hamburger med rare and it was well done. They didn't send them back because we had already waited over an hour for our food. Neither one of them ate more than a couple of bites (my husband took his home where he finished cooking it the next day) Our waitress was not at all attentive, she never beought bread, we had to ask for it when it had been 45 mins since apps and we were hungry..."

"We enjoyed our evening very much. The food was excellent as was the service. We had a large group of people (6) who hadn't seen each other in a while and I wanted a restaurant where we could talk comfortably and The Duck was perfect. Additionally, the prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and the overall experience.
And, as a note, the online reservation process worked perfectly.
My husband and I are local residents and will be back soon."

"We love The Duck, as usual our meal was delicious, the live music was entertaining and the service was better than ever. Miscommunication along the way landed our plates, delivered by the bus server, in front of us before we had sipped on champagne before dinner drinks and before our appetizer. Our waitress noticed the situation and was at our table immediately to send the plates back and returned with our appetizer. Our meals were obviously not held under a hot plate, they came out later fresh and delicious. It was another great night at The Duck."

"Everything was great only mild issue I had was the floor would shake when the servers would walk by but I take that fine because the building itself is an antique. Great place, worth the 30m drive I took to get there and then some. Valentines specials and they gave us fine chocolate at the end of the meal and a carnation for my fiance. Very good experience."

"We found the atmosphere to be very relaxing. Making reservations was simple and accommodating. We were a little discouraged about the length of time it took for someone to take our order but it seemed like there was some confusion about which waitress was assigned to our table. Once we had a waitress, she provided us very good service. The menu provided a good selection for making our meal choice. We would recommend this restaurant to our friends and we would definitely make a return visit."

"When first seated at The Duck, I actually told the waitress we might have to leave because the volume around our table was so loud--we were in an already loud dining room, seated next to the bar and the live entertainer. But the waitress immediately whisked us to a much quieter table and the rest of the experience was fabulous. Service continued to be excellent, food was inventive and perfectly prepeared, and the specialty drinks were a treat."

"Restaurant was busier for lunch than the staff appeared to anticipate. Two servers for a room full of customers. While food was good, service felt very rushed as our server was obviously very rushed. As a result, she was not very hospitable and we didn't feel welcomed...rather felt like we were a bother."

"This is a convenient meeting place to catch up with friends from the Hartford and Worcester areas. I live in the Boston area and come to Sturbridge several times a year to meet friends for lunch, mostly at The Duck (I still refer to it as the "Whistling Swan"). All in all it rarely disappoints; food is good, decor is comfortable and staff is friendly and accommodating. Owners should recognize this fact and continue to make the menu interesting. On my recent visit, my friend and I both had a burger served on a bed of greens, rather than on the usual bun, and really enjoyed it served that way. The greens were very fresh and tasty and we both ate every last leaf."
