"Food was good, but not spectacular...we must have gotten there on an off night. Our entree had indian spices and the concept of it would have been great if it wasn't that it did not excel and the flavors did not come together. Our other entree was a short-rib: that one was very good and almost made up for the mediocre indian chicken.
Also, we apparently chose the worst wine they had in the list. It was highly priced but lacked in flavor, had a flat taste and was acidic. We thought it was properly preserved, it was just a bad red wine that shouldn't have been on the list.
Desserts were just ok. I'm not sure I would like to go back or pay that much extra for a one start Michelin restaurant."

"Always consistently good food and great service. Farm Egg is a nice savory salad. Perfect to have dinner with a couple of friends because the place is pretty small."

"Very sweet rustic atmosphere with elegant professional service and excellent food. Everyone enjoyed our evening. Something special about the service here...as if everyone working here owns the restaurant. Maybe they do!"

"One if the few surprising menus with authentic flavors and ingredients. Touches and colors inspired from the best tables in France. Very knowledgeable staff and an overall experience that takes you to a special place! The only reason for the 4 stars in Ambience is because of the noise level - a bit high for this kind of amazing experience."

"We will NOT be going back to Station 1. It was over-priced, pretentious, and ridiculous. We couldn't believe how long it took to order our drinks or to get a single slice of bread (no butter, oil, or salt and pepper - we had to ask). We didn't understand anything that was on the menu and while the food was fresh, it was all just unnecessary. Just milking the pockets of people who can afford to eat like that.
We had no idea that a Friday night out (dinner for 2) would cost $196"

"Enjoyed everything about this restaurant from the pre-fix options to the decor. It is a creative mix of old world and new, with modern California cuisine that is artistically presented. The pre-fix menu is very approachable for most people, and offers 4 options per each of the 3 courses, including a vegetarian option, a more "common" option such as salmon or chicken, and a daring option like sweet breads, which are not for everyone. The dessert also has a cheese option for those who don't like sweets. All of their food is local organic, free range and seasonal. They also serve an amuse bouches in-between each course, and homemade rolls. Also you can choose to do the wine paring for an additional charge, and they have well crafted cocktails!"

"Despite a limited number of choices of dishes, it's fun for a group to order several to share. We're not big dessert people, so we got six starters, four mains and two desserts (for 4 people). Also an excellent selection of eclectic liquors, signature cocktails and beers."

"Our overall experience was ok, the only negative was that the service was too fast, we felt like we had to hurry thru our meal, the staff need to give their customers a bit more time to enjoy the meal , they were in our face the whole time. They need to time their service better for this type of restaurant. I realize they have to turn their tables but its seems they were only giving us an hour and that is not why we went to this restaurant."

"My friends and I loved our experience here. The flavors were distinct, complementary layers that enhanced the primary protein, from short ribs to salmon. Two of us had the wine pairings, which are generously poured and further complemented the food pairing. Was it expensive...yes, but for the quality, service and overall pleasure the meal brought, and considering what one pays around the Bay Area for just decent meals, absolutely worth it."

"We had a great anniversary dinner, thanks. The food was comparable to some of the better bay area restaurants (Flea Street, Chez Panisse). I also like a simple menu (something also common to the better restaurants). And the Albarino was some of the best I've had. Mainly though, the atmosphere was intimate and the noise level just right for private conversation, making for one of our more memorable celebrations."

"I took my wife to Station 1 for her 40th birthday at it didn't disappoint. The staff was warm, friendly and well orchestrated. The food was delicious and beautiful. At first I was worried that the portions were going to be too small, but by the end of the meal I was stuffed."

"My husband and I have been to Station One several times. We are wine-lovers, and are continually surprised that they serve red wine in Viognier glasses, when they have red wine glasses visible on their shelves. We have given repeated feedback about it. They say that it is their policy for people who order wines by the glass to be given red wine in a white wine glass. It is a policy we just cannot understand."

"We loved this place! The food the night we went was delicious, portions delightfully small, wonderful wine pairings. But most notable was the service: kind, welcoming, personable, generous with the wine pours and tastes, just delightful people. We will be going back."

"This was one of the most disappointing dinners we have had in a long time. Service was exceptional. Menu overall small and Prix fixed although you can order separately. We had the broccoli soup, no flavor. My wife sent it back and they delivered a smaller version of the salad. Next I had a salad, very small portion of beets. The entree, my wife had short ribs or should I say a short RIB. I had the salmon. small portion and they did not tell me it was brined. All I tasted was the Salt. My wife had desert again small chocolate gran-ash, very average. The best part of the evening was the cocktails before dinner and stopping by In and Out Burger to fill up. Price was $200"

"We have always enjoyed Station One but this time the food was the best yet! Loved the creamy broccoli soup with chicken liver mousse and the salmon was perfect! Wine pairings were unique and well matched to our meals. Staff is always friendly, attentive and knowledgable. As someone said, its always amazing to eat something you know you could not cook in an absolutely perfect manner! We were told that the back room will soon have a bar with tables which don't require a reservation. It will be an intimate venue to try more unusual mixed cocktails. We can't wait!Highly recommend for a relaxed evening with exquisite food."

"We have eaten at Station One many times over the last two years and enjoyed it tremendously. This recent experience was hopefully an outlier. No dish was really distinctive and some were significant disappointments. Both entrees were well below expectations, we had the artic char and the braised short rib. The char had an overly fishy taste and the short rib was not as tender as one would expect and lacking in flavor. Hopefully this was an off night since we have enjoyed Station One so much in the past."

"I frequented this restuarant when it was Bentlys and was very pleased with the changes which have taken place. From the moment we arrived the staff was extremely helpful, the only low point of the night was our table wasn't ready and they do not have a bar or waiting area. However the complmentary glass of prosecco helped us over that hump. Once seated the waiter was both friendly and knowledgable about the menu. We decided to try the Prix Fix which was amazing. The portions were done in decent sizes, not a huge quantity but incredible quality. We opted for a Spanish Priorat, and it complimented all our selections as we ranged from land to sea across the 4 of us. Great place, great food, we shall return"

"The Valentine's Day dinner was amazing. My husband and I loved the broccoli soup and the squab with pine risotto and pine nuts. Our other favorites were the scallops with parsnip creme fraiche and blood orange beurre blanc. (the best I have ever had), and the "Opera Cake" for dessert. The food continues to be exceptional at Station 1, and the service can't be beat."

"Food is sophisticated and presented elegantly, but nothing about it is overdone. Portions are on the small side, but there is plenty to eat and satisfy. The cocktails are terrific. My one complaint with our meal is that we were in our car driving home within 2 hours. I thought the service was rushed from the moment we sat. Not sure if it was our waiters' inexperience or the need to turn the table (although there were empty ones around us) but he literally asked us to clear our cheese plate or have it taken away since the first course was on its way out. I still say this place is a gem and I will for sure return, just hope the staff slows down the pace a bit."

"Well balanced wine list. I appreciate the 3oz pours which allow me to indulge in two wines with dinner. I am a foodie and I enjoy foods that are well balanced and creative. Unfortunately, while the combination of flavors and textures attempted in many of the dishes are creative, the taste often falls flat. I was disappointed with the first course and dessert."

"Great meal here at our first visit to this restaurant. The appetizers were so delicious! (tagliatelle and the soup). The remaining courses were very good. We had the arctic char, the short rib, the chocolate ganache and the almond cake. Fantastic experience overall!"

"We went to Station 1 for a time-shifted Valentine's Day celebration (Feb 13) and were altogether pleased with our experience. The ambiance is lovely, the service was truly wonderful - warm, friendly and helpful in every way we desired. And the food was terrific - interesting, delicious, and complicated in ways I could never duplicate at home (which is what I want when I go out to eat!) It's not inexpensive, but it's not overly expensive and it's well worth what you pay. Portions are just right - not too big and not too small. What more can I say?!"

"Last experience was not terrible compared to a couple of years ago. The ingredients were low quality and food was disappointing, spices and tastes are very artificial, main short rib dish was dry and inedible, left more than half the dish, but tried to eat as much as possible. The dessert mousse tart was difficult to eat since the tart was harder than the dish, could not get a piece without breaking the dish. Some dishes were ok visually but low quality overall. The ambiance of the back room was unbearable, noise from the kitchen, cold and the music was inconsistent with the ambiance. Felt like being at the crab shack. If only I ordered just a beer. Waiters were good but Hostess was great and she made the experience a little better."

"We returned to Station 1 after several years being hesitant after the chef change but were not disappointed. The ambiance is cozy in the front room, the service is friendly and attentive and the food remains delicious. Tiny gripe - not having salt on the table for additional seasoning, the short ribs would have benefited from more (to my tastes)."

"From the warm welcome to the excellent service and the beautiful food prepared with care and love - I would give this restaurant a 5. I thoroughly enjoyed everything. When I was considering different wine choices they were patient and flexible. They had suggestions but were open to my feedback and even graciously exchanged one of the pairings when it was not what I expected. Everyone was super friendly and I had a memorable evening. Would definitely return."

"Simply put this is a gem that is still undiscovered as we were abke to get an eay reservation on the sane day. With a reasonably prix fix menu that has never disappointed... I will reccomended them to friends every time. After a rough couple of months my wife and I decided that it was time to treat ourselves. While the food was "comfort" oriented it kept a toe in adventure that provide us with a new experience. Tastes were familiar but unique in presentation and a couple new twists. The wait staff was exceptional. Excellent reccomendations helped us select the right parings for our evening. The entire team at Station 1 delivered. We will be back."
