"We willingly broke every single self-imposed dietary restriction to experience The Spice Table. It was well worth it. We enjoyed the flattened chicken and the lamb satay. We were blinded by the magic of Kaya Toast. Is it possible that six ingredients can cause euphoria? Yes."

"The food was good. Flavors were excellent, but a little too much of the same texas toast style white bread on a few plates...at least trim the crust on some of the bread like with the marrow. We ordered a lot of food so maybe thats why it came up a lot, but thats what tapas is for yes? Good flavor, small wine and beer list, but good selections.
Lamb Belly and Tripe skewers were great as well as the fresh red skin peanut dipping sauce. Fried Cauliflower was enjoyable, slight curry in tempura batter. Grilled Bone Marrow was on point.Creamed Kale was so so . Shortrib was good but sambal is SPICY! Chicken livers and toast was good. Coconut Toast was good and I am sure moneymaker."

"I dined at The Spice Table last year and loved it. Recently, I decided to dine there again and was very disappointed. The food was salty and lackluster. There was only one sparkling wine choice. The place was infested with little nats that were annoying thoughout the whole evening.
I was so bummed..."

"Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab-Delicious! Deep fried goodness in a savory chili sauce. It was so good that we sopped up every bit of it with the toast that came with it. It was a little steep in price but so worth it. Kaya Toast-Wow! Really a great balance of sweet and savory! The only other Kaya Toast we've had is at Street and although a little different, I feel the same way about it. I would order it here everytime! Pork Ribs-These were spicy & tender. Very good. Cauliflower-Deep fried something like tempura that you dipped in a spicy chili sauce. I really liked the chili sauce but thought the cauliflower was just O.K. The service was excellent and we had a great meal."

"I was so excited about going and got very disappointed. The server did not mention the daily special and recommended something that was not that great. I still ended up with ordering what I wanted in the first place. Food are way way way too salty. I can't say there's much creativity. It's not worth the price."

"The ambience is wonderful and the food I had was quite good. However, over half the menu was out of stock. It quite disappointing to go to a restaraunt and be forced to choose your third choice."

"From the reviews I read, I was expecting the food to be a little more "out-there" in terms of flavors and ingredients. It was delicious, solid food. But I didn't have anything that was particularly outstanding or innovative. I liked it, but it didn't live up to the hype."

"This restaurant has a lovely ambiance, which is entirely ruined by poorly trained wait staff. The back room, which has tables along the walls and open space in the middle looks very appealing. But, the waitstaff hover in the small open center area in an anxious, rather than calmly attentive way. Even though there were not people waiting, you were made to feel that you had to rush. Dishes came out without any flow. We ordered "snacks" when we ordered our beverages, but these came out after a wait with several of the large plates. I ordered a glass of Proseco and when they brought my husband's beer, they brought me any empty glass. Several minutes later they filled it with room temperature Proseco that was almost flat. The food was mediocre."

"i haven't been surprised by a new eatery in a while.dishes like the eggplant topped with a chile sauce that teased the tongue withou biting it off.lip smacking ribs that found me sucking my fingers after each bite.savory duck rice that i didn't want to share. the few misses were scallops overwhelmed with sauce and an indifferent marrowbone with ordinary cold pieces of white bread. service was wonderful if a little too eager to rush away plates as if to hurry along the customer."

"Great little restaurant in the cool, Little Tokyo part of downtown L.A. The dishes are meant for sharing and arrive at the table as they are prepared. Everything we ordered was flavorful and creative. The service was excellent. We will definitely be back to dine here again."

"Recommended by a friend who knows good food...so had to try it. We had an early dinner after a show at The Ahmanson. Looked like the restaurant was in a converted warehouse of some sort. Loved all of the exposed brick and beams. Two couples..we shared approx 7 plates. Loved the Sriacha potatoes! Wonderful variety of flavors and textures. I think we ordered a couple bottles of Malbec which paired nicely with everything. Highly recommend this spot for a lovely and lively dinner."

"perhaps not the most memorable restaurant I've ever been to, but all the food was certainly good. I really like the carrot cakes and the spare ribs, but that's kind of all I remember eating. Go with a group so you can try as much as possible."

"Food was served almost too quickly. Never time to savor flavors. Music way too loud almost bouncing of the wall. The yellowtail plate served fish paper thin.... they could have just rubbed a spoon with the fish and let you have a lick of that with the topping. Major saving grace was that the chef worked with meats such as chikcen livers and tripe... the two best dishes we had. The noodle dish had way too much sauce i.e where's the noodles?"

"I love The Spice Table! As soon as we walked in, I knew we had found a real gem. The lighting is dim and cozy, and the decor lends itself to an intimate romantic vibe. It's inviting. We met one of the owners as well, with whom we talked for a long time, as we discussed LA vs. NY, the origin of her restaurant, and how she thinks about food. They specialize in a fusion of Thai-Vietnamese, using authentic spices and sauces that far exceed the usual peanut-sauce glop. So tasty! I also like the way they serve wine. For about $13 you get a 16oz carafe, which is about two small glasses. A real bargain and good tasting wine, to boot. This place has it all! The entire experience was excellent. My new fave restaurant."

"This is one of these places you go to once, not because it's bad, just because it doesn't really doesn't jump out at you. The atmosphere is dimly lit which is great for a romantic dinner. The food style is more like a southeast asian tapas place. The food portions are on the smallish size and are served one at a time which builds anticipation, then falls short of expectations. The wine selections cover all the bases but is a bit small. Overall it was a good experience, nice atmosphere but the food is a little pricey for what you get."

"If you have an aversion to animal fat, this is not the place for you. I happen to love the stuff, so well-spiced pork belly, lamb belly and pig's tail rock my boat. Turns out our guests, however, detest animal fat, so this wasn't the best place to bring them. There are good dishes without the fat, but be warned that some are quite spicy. This a place for adventurous eaters. This was my second time at the restaurant, and I would go back again. However, your cardiovascular system would appreciate limiting your visits to perhaps once a year...."

"I hadn't been for a while and it has gotten even better. The rendang, in particular, was sensational: You could not only taste all the richness of the spices, but the beef was tenderer than any I've had in Singapore. What's impressive is how the sambals differ so nicely from dish to dish."

"The food was very good and very unique. The server had excellent recommendations, and even warned us when we started ordering too much, and there was not one dish on the menu which disappointed. I would suggest trying the Laksha Noodles(this dish was HOT!) and the Kaya toast.
True to it's name, the food was very spicy, so if you have an aversoin to hot foods, I would not recommend this restaurant.
The only downfall was that almost every dish our party ordered was very spicy, and made it hard to continue tasting the difference after a few dishes. It would have been interesting for the restaurant to mix it up for a few of the dishes, but perhaps that would be going against the ethnic origins of the restaurant."

"This was our first time eating at Spice Table and we look forward to going back soon. Since only wine and beer are served at this place, we had cocktails at Aburiya Toranoku just two blocks away. We shared three items at Spice (spicy chicken liver, a crab wonton soup special and their flattened chicken), all of which were very delicious. We are not familiar with either Vietnamese or Singaporean cuisines, so we can't speak the authenticity of the dishes, but we can say everything was yummy. Our only "complaint" is that the restaurant was very hot, and things unfortunately didn't improve after we ate the chicken liver dish - a very delicious, but incredibly spicy dish! Their entire crew was very friendly, especially the hostess."
