Dine in style at The Andover Inn's signature restaurant, Samuel's
Created with skill and passion, the menu features an exciting array of seafood, steaks, and signature items from our Executive Chef and his culinary team.
We offer a wide variety of spirits, local brews on tap and an ample selection of domestic and international wines complimenting our newly created menu. The Bar offers a lighter fare menu of sandwiches and appetizers to share.
Samuel's also features the Abbot Room, a private dining room that seats up to twelve guests, perfect for hosting a family party, business dinner, or gathering of friends.
Our restaurant offers high ceilings together with warm mahogany and eclectic décor creating a slightly contemporary yet comfortable feeling.
"Dining at the Andover Inn used to be a very special experience. The food was terrific and the ambiance was very elegant with white tablecloths, beautiful table settings and a fairly formal feel. Now that the restaurant has been redone, the place looks and feels more like an upscale pub -- no tablecloths and a very casual environment. In addition the food was very mediocre. Diners should stick to the basic foods; I don't think that this kitchen is up to preparing more adventurous fare. Overall: very disappointing."

"The soups served were luke warm, so needed to ask for reheating, the bread and butter was served with the main meal, the coffee was very week, the room temperature was sometimes unbearable cold when the cold air was shooting in from above. My chicken was dry. All in all I was very disappointed. On the other hand one of my daughters goes to your restaurant frequently and she is very satisfied with your food and services."

"Group near us was very noisy thus the energetic grade. Food was delicious. Steaks done perfectly, salmon was fresh and wonderful. Waitress, Alyson, was very attentive. We'll be back!"

"Food was delicious. We had the Field of Greens salad and the scallops with risotto. French martini was very good as was the wine by the glass. This was the third time we've eaten there since the renovation and new menu. Samuel's never disappoints!"

"The food was amazing. The flavor profiles were perfect. The room was beautiful and quiet. The server did a good job but had to many tables to wait on and seemed to get flustered."

"Overall the meals were very very good. My fish was outstanding, plain new england baked haddock. The only critique we could make were that the mashed potatoes were dry and bland. They could have used a little more cream and butter. I would go again and just ask for a substitution on the potatoes."

"Since Samuel's has been renovated, the ambiance is less stuffy and more chic. It's a great upscale environment with a great menu and great bar. Good for a special occasion when you want to remain local."

"My wife and I go about once a month. The price range is on the high end of reasonable but the food is well worth the price. The staff is super friendly and always remember us. They have also made us a few things special that weren't on the menu. The bar is real nice for a high end drinks experience the rest of the place is great for a sit down meal as a date, special occasion or even a family meal with older kids."

"This small, carefully planned restaurant on the Philips Andover campus is a sophisticated treasure. Understated yet beautiful: a great combination of simple and sparkly-- polished wood AND polished glasses. Hamburger or crab cakes. House wine or high dollar."

"We had quality pieces of red meat and the tuna tartar. Everything was cooked perfectly but there was a lack of seasoning and sauce, just needed more flavor. Everything seemed fairly bland and too simple. We had higher expectations for the amount of money and setting. It would be a nice place to have a drink but we would not go back for a meal. Also, the music was a little annoying."

"Pleasant service and a nice though noisy buzz. The nut encrusted lamb chops sound good but they were not hot on arrival and the crusting takes away your ability to dissect away the fat and gristle on the meat. The Tuna starter was good and my partners soup and fish were tasty and well prepared."

"Samuel's is regaining its reputation and in spite of some bumpy service on this last visit I would totally recommend giving it a try. At this point, I would say we are regulars. Food is consistently very good and Samuel's has become our "go to" local restaurant. Love the fact they they do half orders on some of the entrees. Makes for a well-portioned dinner and is easier on the wallet. It is wonderful to be able to easily hear the conversation at your own table. 9We were not in the bar area which is a bit noisier. ) Looking forward/hoping for some spring menu changes--whatever they may be."

"while we enjoyed our meal..it is a small room and we were able to hear entire conversations from others. It may be an era where everyone wants to know what is going on with others..We prefer not to."
