"Our corporate group decided to try dinner at Swiftwater. I had been to a happy hour there before, so we knew that the building and the scenery were awesoem. I had heard good things about the food, but it surpassed those reports! We were pleasantly surprised at the amazing quality of the food. From tasty appetizers (tuna and calamari) with unique sauces, to the incredible entrees (we had salmon, lamb, and pork chops), we enjoyed evry bite! The dining room is a great balance of casual and upscale. We felt relaxed and had a great time enjoying the views, wine and food.
We came back for lunch the next day after golf, and were equally impressed with the burgers, and flat bread pizzas. We will be back again!"

"The martini's were excellent, the food was ok - nothing to write home about, but good. Very large portions, straightforward menu. Wait staff was excellent! Biggest drawback was the building - a single giant room that was so loud the waitress had a hard time hearing our orders and you couldn't easily talk to your dinner partners... it was very much dinner in a giant square warehouse space. Meanwhile, just outside the restaurant's entrance the evening's cover band was wailing away with the best of the 70's and 80's - fun band actually, but the overlap just made the ambience worse. Some like the 'rock concert loudness' in a restaurant, it was a bit much, and greatly detracted from the dinner."

"My wife and I have visited The Hoist House every year since it opened and have always had a great time with delicious food, great wine and amazing service. Brian in particular goes out of his way to make the evening great.
On our most recent visit we enjoyed some delicious lamb with the recently released 2010 Syrah (which was so good that we bought a bottle to take with us). The lava cake for dessert took a while to prepare but was well worth the wait!
If you're staying at the Suncadia Lodge the restaurant can call a shuttle to take you back (you may need to wait 15 minutes). I'd also recommend making a reservation for dinner several days before to increase your chances of being near the windows."

"We normally love the Hoist House. This solicitation for review just happened to happen after an "off day". The food is normally quite good. The service is the only thing that is hit and miss. The surroundings and finishes are top drawer. This day was just not quite up to par."

"We had a great lunch while enjoying the views of the golf course below. We also had an opportunity to meet the owners of Swiftwater Cellars and personally compliment them on the food/wine selection in addition to the great service. We were treated with great care and service by the staff from the moment we arrived. It was very enjoyable."

"Hoist House has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, while also managing to be humming with activity and energy. The restaurant's high ceilings must absorb the sound, to make the noise comforting, instead of overwhelming. The waiters are phenomenal, the food was delicious (we had the hummus appetizer, a flatbread pizza, and two chop chop salads), the wine was delectable (I highly recommend trying the wine flight, which will get you a free Swiftwater Cellars wine glass to take home as a memento), and the space is modern and very much winery chic. I was at Swiftwater Cellars to check out the bridal expo and stay the night with my mom and my maid of honor and we had such a fabulous time. Thanks so much!"

"I rated the service as fair, because our waitress was not the best. She was very low key with not a lot of enthusiasm for her job. In addition, one party at the table ordered a bottle of wine and they got a glass each. When they brought this to her attention, she then brought them small carafe's of additional wine to make up a bottle. When we were ready to depart our table, she brought them the left over wine in a different bottle.
In addition, we had take home containers of what we didn't eat. When we got home, we found she had mixed up the take home cartons, so we each had someone else' take home food.
Our experience was overall good as we had cocktails in the bar, and we were promptly seated at our dining table."

"Every single thing we ordered was outstanding! Specials, fish, chicken - all beautifully prepared and delicious. The only drawback is that, given the location, this is really a family place. While the food, the decor, the waiters and the PRICES feel like a special occasion, the fact that there are tables full of kids and babies dancing to the live music is a detraction."

"I brought family and a friend from England, two are vegetarians and they had no problem finding something to eat. There were 7 of us, and we all had a great meal,great service and even a visit from the Chef about his wonderful desert. I have been in the restaurant several times and each visit has been top notch!
