Buca di Beppo serves authentic Italian cuisine in an eclectic, vintage setting. Our dishes are served family-style, meant to be shared by everyone at the table. Two sizes are available: BUCA SMALL feeds up to two and BUCA LARGE feeds up to four. "Food was excellent but it did feel like we were part of a process. At least three different people brought our courses and they had to figure out who got what. It is a nice place and good food for the price but it feels like they took a little of the personal touch out. We had 5:30 reservations so the restaurant wasn't that busy."

"Usually I have had good experiences at Buca, but this was my first time in Indy. The food was great as always. However, though the restaurant was relatively empty, our dinner came out a good deal later after finishing our appetizers. Then, though I had asked our server if she could get our checks to us right after getting our meals (since we were in a rush), there was a long delay. I had to ask the manager, who happened to be walking by. When we finally got our checks, it had been split NINE ways for a party of SEVEN. For a restaurant that serves meals for sharing I would think that splitting a bill would not be a big deal. The manager, though he helped to take care of the issue, did not seem apologetic at all. No more Indy Buca for me."

We sat for a half hour with no service. After asking if someone had been assigned to us someone promptly arrived. The manager came to our table with a sense of sincere concern--asking a number of questions. Service for the rest of the evening was below standard--e.g. we had to ask for bread, an entree order came out wrong, we had to ask for spoons for desert. Given the manager's expressed concern, I was surprised we did not receive a complimentary desert or at least coffee. Perhaps this was an isolated case of dysfunctional service, but I will not take the chance to go back the next time we're in Indy."

"Our party of eight made reservations for 7:00 on Friday night to celebrate our 18 year old's birthday. We were seated at 7:25. Our waitress was pleasant and got drinks and appetizers right away. Our only snafu was when the food arrived at our table. One of the servers dropped a knife which crashed into my husband's wine glass. The glass broke the wine spilled on my husband's plate, on our cheesy garlic bread and my husband. The waitress apologized. She got a new plate and offered my husband a complimentary glass of wine. The garlic bread was not replaced. My son reminded the waitress that it was my daughter's birthday. The staff sang to her and walked away-no treat. The final bill included the wine and the garlic bread. Not fun."

"We've visited Buca in Indy several times over the past few years. Previously, we would have rated everything as 'good' at least. But the past two visits, which this review encompasses, saw a fairly dramatic drop-off.
The physical plant of the restaurant is tired. The seats are broken and springs protrude (yes, I got jabbed), the lights in the dining room flicker badly (reportedly from car traffic driving in the garage overhead but more likely from substandard electrical systems), which causes a dizzying strobe-light effect. The air is heavy with grease from poor ventilation and circulation.
The food quality is only fair. Southern Italian food is hard to ruin, which probably saved it.
The servers are good. Very friendly."

"Our spaghetti was not drained so it was a bowl of water with noodles. We showed the waitress. she agreed it was horrible, but did not replace it. She did bring sauce to add on top but the noodles became gross sitting in a bowl of water. We complained to manager but nothing was done. It ruined a 50th birthday celebration dinner. In addition, the waitress did not want to arrange for happy birthday to be sung. She told the birthday boy "you really don't want that" but when he told her yes, he did want to celebrate, she went ahead and had them come sing. Overall, we were disappointed and won't return. So bad we rescheduled another party 2 days later to Old Spaghetti Factory and it was much better."

"I had last visited Buca over 10 years ago with my parents. I remember the food being awesome with enormous portions. We all ate what we wanted and had food to bring home. I visited Buca this week with my 10 yr. old son. The portion size and the food quality was equivalent to the other Italian restaurants in our life (Olive Garden and Charbono's) but I paid about double for it. Not cool! Speaking of cool, we froze. I would recommend this restaurant if it weren't for the price. It's just not enough better than the other places that are closer, cheaper, and have free parking."

"Food was great as expected. The table space and space between tables is worse than an airplane. We are not big people. Service was fair that night, done better in the past. Didn't get silverware and when we did some pieces weren't clean, okay they probably went through the dishwasher cycle, but I'll pass on having sterile crusty parts on my silverware. If you are 6 or less go for the booth if you can. Larger parties I'd try to score a private room or at least try to avoid the long cafeteria tables in the very very keep walking, yep around another corner, oops excuse me as I turn the millionth corner seating area. Apple Gorgonzola salad awesome, chicken Marsala pretty good chicken carbonara very good."

"The food is absolutely the best, the service was excellent. The server treated us like we were royalty and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. "I went to Buca's for prom with some friends and we had reservations. We showed up early and waited around 30 minutes past our reservation time. People with later reservation times and walk-in people were getting seated before us. When I asked a someone on staff about this she was not very helpful or nice. One member of staff who was busy doing other things however was nice enough to seek out getting us a table (this wasn't even his specific job). It was packed but there was a lot of events happening at the time so that only added to the stress. If it weren't for that I would say the experience was fine. Our server was really fast and on top of things even in the chaotic environment. The food was good, we just had 1 hour less to eat."

"We celebrated our son's 6th birthday with a trip to Indy. We advised Buca di Beppo ahead of our celebration. They had a birthday card ready and all the staff came to sing to him. Our waiter, Jason, was fantastic, friendly, and treated us great. The food was very tasty and more than enough for our small group. Loved the ambiance."

"I attended Buca on a busy Saturday night, luckily we had reservations or it would have taken a good amount of time to be seated due to business. Our waiter was very friendly and checked up on us whenever he was not at another table. Our food was quickly and it was delicious. For how busy it was that night, our waiter was very attentive. It was a overall great experience"

"We had a group of 3 adults and 9 teens and we were happy to find a restaurant that took our reservation. We were seated immediately. Our wait person Corey was terrific and the food was delicious. The kids loved the apple gorgonzola salad along with the pasta dishes and dessert plate. All was excellent."

"I nearly always eat here before marathons and half-marathons that start in downtown Indianapolis. Knowing that, Buca is ALWAYS busy and ALWAYS crowded. I accept this fact and know that I may have to wait a few minutes beyond my reservation to get a seat (never longer than 15mins). As per that, they were SLAMMED on this night; people waiting in the hall, outside, and around the greeter. They handled the crowd pretty well - sat people as soon as tables opened up and as close to their reservation time as could be accommodated. We arrived a few minutes early and only had to wait a few minutes after our resv time.
The food was good and the service was good considering the crowd. It was noisy but that's to be expected."

"Buca's has always been one of our favorite Italian restaurants. The food was delicious with ample quantities. The waiter was personable, friendly and very attentive. Everything was great with the exception of the child sitting at the table next to us whose behavior was unacceptably noisy. The waiter was very apologetic although it was not any of his doing."

"My family went to Buca recently, and overall our experience was just okay. The service was not very good; granted, we were there when there was a special event in Indy, so the place was booked. Our food came to our table well after other groups who had come after us received their food. Several times servers came to our table with random dishes, trying to figure out if the dishes belonged to us. We ordered a penne pasta dish with chicken which was bland; the broccoli side dish had way too much garlic. The stuff shells dish was great! I don't know if I would go back."

"As usual, food (and bread) was fantastic! However, we must have had a new waiter or one that was distracted/busy, because he was terrible. Late in greeting us, we waited forever to put in our food order, and had to ask several times to be brought our bread. And, he kept disappearing on us... so we couldn't get refills on anything."

"Sure it's campy fun, but the food is good and the portions crazy! There should be a warning on the menu: objects are larger than they appear! We got the brownie sundae and while the picture looks like a small sundae in a margarita glass, this one must have been a giant's glass. It had 7 scoops of ice cream and piles and piles of brownies and whipped cream. That wasn't even the best dessert, the chocolate cake was even better (and also super sized."
