"For years, my husband and I have frequently celebrated our anniversary at the Fish house. It used to be very reliable and very good. This is the first time we have been back since Karen Barnaby left. We arrived at 7:00 on a Sunday evening with a reservation. We waited at least 1/2 an hour after ordering to receive our appetizers and then for another 1/2 hour for our entrees. My husband ordered smoked cod linguini which arrived with no cod at all - only pieces of dry, overcooked tuna. When he couldn't eat it, he received freshly cooked fish - but all tuna. In all, we were in the restaurant 2 1/2 hours - most of the time was spent waiting for food. This whole experience was not a celebration and we were very disappointed."

"Our fish order was mixed up. Had to wait for the ordered to be redone.Did bring us a small apple for our wait however one order was cold and had to be sent back. Gave us a comped glass of wine. The server was very apologetic and manager came around to check. The food was ok nothing outstanding."

"This consistently outstanding restaurant is the gem of the West End. It is the perfect place to take out of town guests, for a special occasion, or for just a quiet lunch with friends. The fish is always fresh, and beautifully prepared. For those who disdain fish, there are several excellent alternatives. Karen Barnaby's signature food has been maintained with the new owners. Servers are unobtrusive and helpful. There is no booming music to distract from pleasant conversation. The scenic spot in the park is perfect. On all counts, this restaurant is a ten! We have been going to Fish House for over ten years and it has never disappointed."

"I used Open table to make the reservation and in it i let them know that it was a special lunch for three generations of ladies. didnt matter - we werent the only table in our section with the worst service i have had in years. none of us will go back."

"Our group ordered lobster bisque, salmon cakes, and vegetarian eggs benedict. Not that the food was bad, but it wasn't "amazing" either. I've had better bisque at the Sutton Place, and definitely better bennies at places like Q4 or even Joe's Grill. For its price and location, you would expect more."

"We went here for Mother's day and it was very good. The service was outstanding. However, disliked that they shortened the menu for Mother's day. Wish they had their full menu. Nevertheless, the food that was on the menu was great! Fresh seafood. Pork chop was a little dry but still very good. Felt the seating to be a bit cramped in the booth for four. Little leg room. But other than that was a very good experience, and will definitely recommend."

"We brought my family to the Fish House for Mother's Day Brunch on the Saturday. The food was okay, but the service was bad. All of the staff was unfriendly and seemed inexperienced. After asking for pepper 3 times, we still did not receive it. Granted it was Mother's Day weekend (although the restaurant wasn't that busy), and maybe the staff wasn't use to serving so many people. I will definitely not be returning to this restaurant."

"While this is a pre-set menu I would highly recommend it - from soup to entrée it was a true dining experience that should not be missed. Our son had the Cod linguine and is still reminding us that we have to take him back there for his birthday. Location is up there with the menu and service - in the midst of Stanley Park very nice. Be prepared if sitting outside that you will be facing the tennis courts but not to worry, as watching the tennis players burn off the calories makes you feel a little less guilty. Wine pairings with the pre-set menu were very good depending on your personal taste but we really enjoyed it."

"I'm impressed with the service rather than the food. My friend ordered the daily soup, a creamy watercress soup. She loves watercress but didn't realize that it had a bitter taste. The waiter was very kind to take away the soup and void the bill for her. The food is average. Though it's a little bit pricy for lunch, guess dinning at this location is reasonable."

"The Fish House in Stanley Park is a Vancouver institution that is known worldwide for serving up only the best fish and seafood BC has to offer. In the past I've made visits in the rainy months of October and the place is just as romantic and the seasonal menu is just as delicious.
For this visit we came in for my birthday, we were greeted my the lovely hostess and shown to our table overlooking the park and the setting sun over the Pacific. After checking out the menu we placed our order and dug into the complementary bread & house made lobster oil, it's beautifully mild here and made in small batches. I ordered crab cakes and steak with scallops while my partner ordered sable fish. Everything was absolutely delicious & cooked perfect."

"This was our first time visiting the Fish House in Stanley Park but it won't be our last. As expected from a restaurant named Fish House, the menu is heavy on seafood, all perfectly prepared and presented. The waitstaff are friendly and efficient. After having dined in a couple of other restaurants where the main course arrived immediately after the starter plates were cleared, I appreciated the pacing of our dinner. We had time to relax, chat and take in the view between courses. The ambiance of the restaurant is wonderfully romantic as are the sunset views of Stanley Park and English Bay out the windows."

"I would rate it higher for service, however the waiter and the bus boy were mocking us since we asked for the wine bucket to chill our wine. "Came here for our Anniversary. The staff were very friendly and understanding, were very helpful in making our ordering decisions. Really enjoyed the Oysters, the green salad was great, and the lobster oil is amazing! Enjoyed some great wine, but couldn't seem to find any sparkling on the menu?
The food menu has a wide range, you can go in for a 'regular' priced meal, or go all out. We chose to go all out, and overall still came in slightly below what I've paid at some other places.
My only complaint, is the google maps listing. If you type in the NAME you get lead to the swiming pool on the beach, which is even labeled "Fish House in Stanley Park". Type in the ADDRESS and you do get the right place. Very frustrating way to star"

"We haven't been to Fish House at Stanley Park for a while and decided to visit again for a special occasion. We had crab cake, salmon wellington, and smoked cod linguini. The food was better than what we have remembered. Special requests were noted by the server and executed well. The restaurant was not busy on a weeknight, but having only one server for the floor deemed to be insufficient."

"A group of us went to the Fish House to enjoy afternoon tea. Unfotunately, we were told that they only had two scones left for our 4 orders of tea. Strange since we arrived exactly at 2pm-tea time...curious how so many scones could be eaten so quickly. Our two scones were rock hard...day old most likely. Didn't even eat them. The sandwiches were nothing special....couple thick pieces of bread with some egg salad, tuna salad, salmon salad....they might think about being a bit more creative in the sandwich department. Overall I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if you are looking to celebrate with the girls or just to enjoy a sunny afternoon of tea. Too bad because it's totally the right setting for it."

"We were there for a 60th birthday celebration; the staff made a nice bit of fuss over her. I had requested a cozy table by fireplace or window and was a little unhappy that we were in the back corner by the exit door. But it was ok. The crab cake appetizer was excellent. There was no quality champagne available by the glass. One of us ordered the ahi tuna nicoise salad, having been told by wait-staff that it was meal-sized. We would not agree with that assessment, but it was tasty. I eat here of often and frequently order the simply grilled arctic char or smoked cod, both of which are delicious. This time I ordered the simply grilled spring salmon and was disappointed that it was overdone and tasted rather "old." Desserts were great."

"My husband and I both had the delicious Halibut/Sticky toffee pudding. Food was very good, the coffee was almost too strong to drink. Server was nice, friendly but didn't hover - hate that :)We were seated in the middle of the room and then requested a booth which they happily moved us too - next time I will make sure to request that when I book. It was my oversight. Overall a good experience."
