"NYAJ is one of our favorite restaurants in the Leesburg/Ashburn area. We hit them on a bad night even though it wasn't busy. The wait staff was unattentive with no enthusiasm (counter to the exceptional servers at this restaurant) and the meal I selected was nothing special."

"This place is good for a weeknight dinner with the kids. The food is okay (somewhat hit or miss). The timing is what tends to be the most unreliable. I'm not sure if it's the servers or the kitchen. They make up for the inconsistencies in customer service. Make sure to make a reservation. They're pretty much always on a wait and reservations get first priority (you can make a reservation before you leave the house)."

"I took my kids here for Mother's Day, and we had fabulous service, from a very friendly hostess (who was apologetic for the 5 minute delay from our reservation time), to a great server who gave very good menu suggestions. It wasn't too quiet, my kids were welcome, and it was great food had by all!"

"Great place to enjoy a diverse menu for large group of people that have very different tastes. From pizza, chicken fingers for kids to steak and seafood entrees for adults, all came out prepared perfectly as ordered. Always enjoy friendly staffers at Joe's and food is good and dependable."

"We chose NYAJ's for our party of 8 to celebrate Mother's Day dinner. Although they were absolutely swamped, our wait staff pampered us and took such good care of everyone at our table! The food is great and as a person who keeps gluten free, it is such a treat to also have warm bread when everyone else at the table has it (that dip is AWESOME!!!!!), and a good selection of gluten free dinner options."

"I ordered a side of fries - wish I had not. They were not hot enough, and totally forgettable. I suspect they came out of a bag of frozen fries. How about actual fresh potatoes? Burger was over-done and dry. On the whole, though, not bad."

"It was Mother's Day so the restaurant was quite busy. 4:00 dinner with my wife, daughter and 2-year old grandson. The children's grilled cheese and fries up to par, the chicken quesadilla up to par, but the two fish dishes that my wife and I had (flounder special and haddock off the menu) were not seasoned at all. The fish was well cooked and plating was done well, but the chef forgot to season the fish. We have both had the haddock before, so knew how it should be cooked and seasoned. Since it was Mother's Day, we will chalk this one up to busy. Lots of children in the restaurant so it was quite loud, but in a good way. If you are looking for quiet and romantic, this in not for you."

"Had a very nice lunch here for Mother's Day with a group of 8. We did have to wait a bit for our table as earlier reservations arrived late and caused a domino effect, but the manager was very apologetic and service was prompt once seated. Sirloin Tips were delicious, as were the salads, Turkey BLT sandwich, and Goat Cheese Flat Bread (a special for the day). The calamari was a bit tasteless, but that was the only downfall of all the food. Overall, really enjoyed the meal and will definitely go back for a good meal that won't break the bank."

"Burger and steak tips we ordered were both over cooked and bland. Ordered the Arnold Palmer but it wasn't as described (sugar rimmed) and it may have been a server issue. The setting was very quick via the web service but once we got to the table it slowed to a snail's pace. The highlight was the bread and that dip, fantastic. But for a restaurant that announces to be not average in it's title should at least be a step above similar restaurants (Chilis, Applebees, etc). Our first experience with it though made nothing besides the free table bread/dip with returning for anytime soon."

"Like Joe's alot and in fact member there and celebrating my birthday with free entree, took 2 hours my scallops had sand thru out them.. my daughter meal late, the waitress comped it when gave us check but chef came over while we were eating than mgr came and no mention of comping.. chef offered her salad though she declined....bread... which is one reason we return to Joe's was so hard.. obviously microwaved... couldn't eat anything but middles...not sure what was wrong with the night but people all around us got there food and checks b4 us and we arrived way b4 them.. had 6:30 resus."

"The food was very good, especially the scallops. Our waitress gave excellent service, she was courteous, attentive, and she answered all our questions about the menu. "The best thing about this place was the gluten free menu and the gluten free bread at the beginning of the meal. The food was average, the potato kugel was not very tasty. "We needed a place that had a couple of requirements, kid friendly, good food, and a table available on Easter. This place hit all of the right notes. The staff was friendly and enjoyed the kids (2 and under 1). They weren't a distraction or a nuisance, but the reason that they have a restaurant like this. The food was well prepared, warm and tasty. While the two year old really just wanted chocolate milk and butter, he was very happy when his own little pizza showed up, freshly made with nice quality ingredients. A fantastic place that we will certainly return to."

"Actually on this occasion (we probably go 8 - 10 times per year), everything was just average. Went for an early dinner (4:30pm), chicken dumpling appetizer was not one I would order again. Three of us so 3 entrees - meatloaf (average); stroganoff (average); farmhouse sirloin (very good). Service - average."

"The food and service were both very good, but the wait time for the appetizers was longer than we expected. We waited about 30 minutes for our appetizer only to have the main course follow minutes later. They did not space out the timing of each course very well."

"Tried Joe's on the recommendation of a friend, who's favorite restaurant BTW is The Palm. He happened upon the Joe's in Kentlands, Gaithersburg, MD by accident. He told me it was very good and that there was one in Leesburg. Since I live not too far from Leesburg, we grabbed a couple neighbors and tried it out. We were not dissappointed. Starting with the bread and dipping oil, entrees, and finally dessert (white chocolate cherry bread pudding), it was awesome. We will definitely be going back and NYAJ's will become the restaurant I will be bringing my out of town guests."

"This was my second time dining for dinner at Not Your Average Joe's, and the experience this go around was consistent with the first. We appreciated the dedicated and distinct gluten-free menu. The salmon was a bit overdone (for both at my table who ordered it) and the chicken farfalle was rather bland with tough chicken. On the other hand, the meatloaf and burger were cooked to our liking. The sangria was a tad sweet but still refreshing. Our server did a great job and was very attentive to our somewhat chaotic group. Essentially, Joe's redeeming quality is its simplifying a sometimes anxiety-inducing dining experience for people with gluten free needs...great plus."

"Our first trip to dine and it was an overall awesome experience! The food was very good the service just awesome and our waiter we wanted to take him home! We will be returning the "Flirtini" my wife went overboard with. We also shared a bottle of wine reccommended by the waiter that complimented our meal very well. I had the Braised Salmon and it was finger picking good. For a Valentines treat is was just great we will be returning and cannot wait until they open the outside for dining."

"Exceptionally GREAT food and service. Sat us next to the bar, which was rather loud, and right at an walkway intersection but we were able to carry on a conversation and enjoy the meal. We will definitely return. A definite hidden gem which we knew nothing about."
