"The only disappointment was two of our parties salads were tough, bitter and inedible. The pears were sour not sweet. making the whole not work at all. Everything else was a success. Entrees were excellent, especially the grilled pork chop."

"I went there with a large group of friends. Everyone ordered something different and we tasted each other's food. Everything I tried (apetizers and main courses) was simply outstanding. Not only was the food tasty and the dishes different from what one can easily find elsewhere, but the presentation was great and the portions were pretty generous. I'd love to have all the recipes! Unfortunately the service was far from impressive and seemed somewhat uncoordinated (some people got their apetizers much earlier than others and had actually finished eating them and started the main course while some others were still waiting for apetizers). The waiter was not unfriendly but seemed rather inexperienced. Some of the drinks were on the bland side."

"First time at the Mercury. Went to brunch on Mother's Day with a party of 7. Food was good overall, some very good and some average. Some food not hot when it should have been. Service was also average - had to ask for silverware constantly, since they kept taking it away with the plates. Pretty pricey brunch for the food and service. Will try to go to dinner for another try."

"Have eaten here before and food is upscale. The buffet for Mother's Day was pretty ordinary. And at $59 per person was very overpriced. The mimosas were $10. I regretted making the reservation. Also too dark and too cold"

"We were seated next to a table of about 20 people. Our service was horrible and we couldn't even hear ourselves. Although the food was great, the evening was not. We eat there frequently although usually as a guest of someone's (we pick the place though). I will need some sort of guarantee about a quiet table before I go back. It's too expensive not to have an enjoyable experience."

"Not as good as usual. Our special request for a round table for 6 was overlooked and we were seated in a wierd back room, so ambiance was not great. One ribeye was overcooked and taste was not that good. Service was excellent. Love the pate as a starter. the disappointment did not ruin our special nite, but we were disappointed."

"The resturant itself seemed a little stuffy. Felt too uptight with almost everyone in a suit. The food it self was delicious. I will go back there just for the food. The ambience didn't seem like it was very kid friendly, but it seemed good for a romantic night. The bar can make any cocktail you want as long as it is not a frozen drink. It was an ok experience. I don't think I will be going back there anytime soon."

"Even though it's located in an unassuming strip mall and a bit of a misfit in this setting, once inside you're transported to a high-end atmophere that wouldn't be unexpected in any of a number of cosmopolitan cities. The service was excellent the food would have rated that as well, except that my pepper-encrusted tuna was more like a peppercorn sandwich with some rare tuna thrown in the middle. The pepper overwhelmed the tuna which shouldn't have been the intention, in my mind. The soufle was excellent as was pretty much everything else."

"From beginning to end The Mercury did not disappoint. The food was excellent and the service was absolutely top notch. The atmosphere and ambiance were very similar to nearby NHS (which is also amazing). I would (and will) return to this restaurant again for a nearly perfect food experience. If it's still available you have to order the Ricotta Ravioli it will make your night."

"We were staying at the Cooper Clinic and this was our second visit. Everything was outstanding from the service to the dessert. This year I friend the veal. Cooked perfectly. My friends had the halibut. Also great. We missed the sea bass which was sold out. Mercury is a wonderful neighborhood gem."

"We arrived on time for a table for eight. The table was waiting, as was our waiter. The service was very good, especially for a table of that size. The food was outstanding with courses including the crackling chicken, steaks, crispy fois gras, and lamb shank.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Dallas. It has always delivered. We will definitely be back."

"Great dining experience! Had a long, leisurely romantic dinner. Started with great suggestions for wine. Had plenty of time to enjoy appetizer before the entrees arrived. The lamb was amazing & the steak was great. Ended with perfect recommendation of flourless chocolate cake that was moist & delicious."

"Consistently good though a bit expensive. A great place to go if you want no surprises. This unfortunately is also true of the menu.... After many years it could use a re-work, but old favorites are always a draw. Servive is professional and polished."

"We've dined at the Mercury several times and--on this visit--found the food to be consistently excellent but the service below par. The waitstaff muddled the wine we ordered (brought us a red when we had ordered a white), changed the wine glasses 3 times before we were offered a taste of the wine, and rarely visited our table (except for one attentive fellow who kept our water glasses full but did little else). The kitchen was very slow during our visit...although the restaurant was less than 50% occupied and there were no large parties that we could see. It was over an hour between our first course and the entree...we like leisurely dining but this was a little much...not once did our server stop by our table during this hiatus."

"Burgers just got more expensive, although there was a separate menu for them (fries are now extra) making The Mercury one of most expensive places to get one a burger albeit you can get much more variety. Apparently the chef is experimenting and plans to be involved in a burger place (like Dallas doesn't already have a bunch of these). Had the lump crab bibb lettuce salad which was really heavy on the bibb and really light on the crab - VERY light. Also, the "lunch express" of the day was no longer offered, which was a real surprise (I hope this is temporary) as this was always a very attractive offering and usually one of the best offerings. For regulars, I think they would like it reinstated, as do I."

"Veal Marsala was big disappointment - someone needs to visit New Jersey or NYC to learn how to cut and cook tender veal and make a simple Marsala wine sauce with some basic flavor. Could hardly cut the veal and Masala sauce was insipid and watery (Some sort of wine was used but I don't think anyone could mistake it for Marsala). I 1st time here and left with the impression that any Classic dish will never translate in a other Texas eatery that is clueless to any palate outside their border."

"This was my second visit to the Mercury - there is a relaxed feel - and the staff is friendly and attentive. The fried oyster appetizer was incredible, very light, and very tasty. I followed that with the Black Cod entree - truly fantastic! Went there with clients both times and the meetings were successful. Great experience."

"This was a perfect stop for the impressive business lunch. I was taking a Global Director of a Fortune 100 out for a bite and lunch meeting and the Mercury was a perfect fit. Great decor, excellent service, and a terrific menu. Would be delighted to return to this nice spot located in an unassuming shopping center."

"The crabcake was very good, but the surrounding sauce was inedible because of too much salt. The lamb shank was also good, but there was maybe a tablespoon of polenta served w/it, also very salty. The fish was supposed to be halibut, but after it was ordered, the waiter said "oh, sorry, it's gonna be sea bass because we don't have halibut." Would have been nice to tell him before he ordered. We don't think it was sea bass either... The waiter's attitude was very lackadaisical - acted like he didn't really want to be there and could have cared less if we were there. But, he did get the food out and brought an extra drink when asked. We'll go somewhere else next time."

"We hadn't been to The Mercury for a couple of years (not sure why), but our visit this time was fantastic. The restaurant had expanded since we were there last and the bar was much longer than we remembered. Our reservation was for 7pm and it was buzzing when we entered. Had a great table in the corner. Food (black cod) was amazing, as was everything else we had. Service could have been a little better (we were left to our own devices for the first 25 minutes or so after we ordered our wine), but we figured that it was due to the volume of diners and we weren't in a hurry. Overall: fantastic food and great evening. Will definitely visit again soon."

"Requested like spice but the food was inedible. It was replaced with a new dish but by that time everyone else at the table had finished their dinner. They offered no reduction, desert, etc. as a complimentary apology for not delivering the meal as ordered."

"This restaurant came highly recommended and while the food was good, and our server was good, we had to wait an hour to be seated even though we had a reservation. No one took our drink order in the bar while we waited and the noise was terribly loud. The room we were seated in was even louder. We could not hear ourselves talk. This put a bit of a damper on the overall experience."

"Went to Mercury for Valentine's day. Service was great, food excellent, really good experience. The table where they were going to seat me had a ceiling light pointing right at it, making it significantly brighter than surrounding tables, which I did not like, but the staff managed to find us a different table in the same section of the restaurant. I would recommend Mercury to other people."
