"This restaurant has been a favorite of our family's for the 9 years we have lived in Arlington. The new menu is lacking in the vegetarian options department, there are 2 sandwich choices, salads, and pizza. But I don't go out to NYAJ's for pizza, salad, and sandwiches. I'd rather frequent another local establishment for those items. The non vegetarians in our group were happy though, and the energetic noise level masked the noise our crabby children were making,,I don't know that we will be back until there is a main course that is vegetarian friendly."

"Six of us women went for dinner and everyone enjoyed it!. We were seated at a round booth, perfect for our get together, and the food and drinks were very good. Five of us ate the rosemary skewered scallops which were a big hit. I ordered the ahi tuna salad and liked it very much.
The ladies commented on how much they liked the bread and dipping oil.
We have been there many times before and we find consistency and comfort. Our waiter, I forget his name was very accommodating and had a sense of humor.
Overall, we like NYAJ for its consistency and comfort!"

"My wife and I go to Joe's in Arlington several times a month. The food is always quite good as is the service and the meals are very reasonably priced. We've never been disappointed. If I have one complaint it is the kitchen can get backed up when the restaurant is packed."

"Joe's is our usual go to spot for dinner after our daughter is in a show, and the chorus concert was last night. I made a reservation with the OpenTable app, but it wasn't busy -- likely due to the Bruins game. We were seated promptly, but the table wasn't set and seemed dirty & we had to ask twice for the napkins/cutlery, even though the waiter showed up immediately. The vinyl on the bench was ripped, with the interior stuffing showing -- likely not a recent event. Drinks were served promptely. The food was great -- I had a shrimp & fettucine dish from the specials menu that was deliciious."

"We have been going to NYAJ since they opened. I don' think we have EVER had a bad meal. Food is fresh, servings are appropriate. Needless to say, since we are regulars we are treated warmly with our habits remembered. They will tailor most any dish. I have special dietary needs and they accomodate any changes to the menu item."

"Your special features check list don't seem to describe the things that bring us back to Not Your Average Joe's month after month, year after year. Their food is fresh, varied and excellent. They will tailor a menu item anyway you want. Great for people with allergies or special diet requirements.
The whole staff, management, wait staff and cooks just want you to enjoy your time there.
We eat out a lot. NyAJ is one of our two favorite restaurants. (the other is Tex-Mex so there is really no comparison.) We know when the crowds are there so we usually avoid them. However this time we wanted to be there at 7:00 on a Friday night. Open table worked perfectly."

"Having avoided a "chain type" restaurant in favor of the several other excellent restaurants in our town, this was our first visit to NYAJ Arlington. Our mistake. We rate this a "neighborhood gem" because- without pretension- this restaurant provides a diverse menu of very well prepared food efficiently served (despite a visit during prime-time on a Friday evening) by pleasant, willing-to-please, and knowledgeable staff. The wine list is full of "solid" choices at VERY reasonable prices. In fact, the total amount for our meal stunned us: we couldn't believe that we had had such a satisfying dinner and a bottle of wine for such a reasonable amount. We rate our total experience "outstanding" because of this "bang for the buck" aspect."

"We never tire of going to Not Your Average Joe's. Love the rich and playful colors of the room. Prices are SO reasonable for heaps of excellent and interesting food. My husband and I can share one entre and still take home leftovers. The 1/2 price appetizer special (before 6pm on weeknights) is especially amazing. Even though it is always crowded, the noise level is fine for me -- and I'm very sensitive to noise. Wait staff are always friendly, although sometimes terribly busy. If you're in a hurry you would need to tell them."

"Making our reservation on Open Table saved the night as diners arriving when we did had a 30-35 minute wait time and the waiting area was packed. New arrivals had to choose between being packed in like sardines or waiting out in the cold. Having reservations, we were seated quickly. The waitress was friendly, informative and attentive.. The food was cooked exactly as advertised and attractively plated. Joe's take on meatloaf was both savory and beautifully presented, elevating this comfort food to new grandeur. The beer list isn't exceptionally long but includes some very good local craft beers. Only negatives: the tables were extremely close together and 2-top booths a little small for two dinner plates, glasses and bread plates/basket."

"This is one of our favorite restaurants. We took a chance and went on Vaentine's Day, knowing it would be busy. What we didn't count on was how long it would take us to find parking due to the snow. So we were a bit late for our reservation, which put us at the end of the line for our time slot--and they were already behind schedule. We finally got a table, not our usual booth. Things were very hectic around us and we had to wait longer than usual to be served. Probably won't go in Valnetines' Day again. But we will go back to the restaurant, of course."
