"Joe's has a varied menu and something for everyone. You cannot go there without a reservation as you will wait at least 30-60 minutes. But even with a reserrvation we always have to wait 15 minutes."

"Our Mom chose NYAJ's in Needham for her Mother's Day dinner. Needless to say, Mom was right! We've dined at NYAJ's in the past, and we have always, without exception, had a great experience. The menu consistently offers fresh and creative cuisine, and there's something new to try each time we visit. Our waiter was very personable and efficient - our meals didn't sit a moment in the kitchen and were served hot. We love the fresh bread and dipping oil - fabulous! We had the new "founder's flounder" with a delicious cucumber, tomato and coriander salsa; meat loaf; and herb-crusted haddock. All compliments to the chef from our table! We give NYAJ's a perfect 10."

"My family of 4 goes to this restaurant at least once a week. Because we know it's very busy on the weekends, we always make reservations. This Saturday was the first time that we did not get seated in a timely manner. After waiting for 25 minutes and seeing other parties get seated before we did who did not appear to have reservations. When we told them we were leaving they made no attempt to accommodate us or assure us that our table would be available soon. We have reconsidered making this our neighborhood restaurant and will instead expand to neighboring communities. There is no point being loyal to this place if its not loyal to us. Our money spends well elsewhere."

"Went to Not Your Average Joes this past weekend after my daughters high school play. We arrived a little early for our 9:30 reservation. Our table and waiter were waiting. Service was outstanding as it always is at NYAJ's. Our food came quickly and was delicious, our waiter made sure that our glasses were never empty. Will definitely return to this great and convenient in town restaurant."

"The food was excellent; the ambiance was not. This was my second visit; the first was very positive as I was in the main dining room, which is quite nice and very lively. This time I was back in a corner under a thudding speaker that gave the feeling of being in an apartment with a neighbor who is playing their music too loud. My back was to the waiter station and I had a view of a parking lot. The service was slightly below average. The floor under the table did not feel clean. As we were walking out past the main dining room, I thought to myself how nice it would have been to have dined there instead of back in the corner under the bass speaker. I don't think I will go back because I would not want to be back in that nasty corner."

"You guys are starting to get it. The only issue I had this time was the HUGE communication I had with all 3 of the hostess'. They had a hard time finding the reservation and there listening skills were quite poor, I must have provided my name upwards of 7 times and my girlfriend must have said the same at least 5 times. Not sure the disconnect but it was not really busy either. Once we finally sat the service was okay and the food was decent. Bottom line you need to address the hostess stand comprehension issue, it's very irritating to repeat yourself over and over"

"Waiter was wonderful. However I might stop going because the person who seats you is not very friendly and takes forever to respond. This has happened the last 5 times I have been there. When Sarah was manager this never happened. Sarah was amazing, professional and responsive. However the past five times have not been great. Tuesday night we stood there for 5 mins waiting to be seated. The restaurant was fairly empty as it was 5:15 and yet no one could even help us. Three employees were at the bar just staring around as they were not busy but they were not the hostess so apparently they could not provide us service. Finally the hostess comes back and then walks away again. We asked for a booth but that seemed like a difficult request."

"NYAJ does not disappoint if you are looking for good, real food, and a pleasant atmosphere. Very accommodating (we wanted a quieter nook so our very distractable baby would eat her food, and didn't feel like we were inconveniencing the to ask. Not the largest dining room so it can get a bit loud as it fills up. Specials generally rotate monthly, and the regular menu has a good variety from pizza to meatloaf to scallops etc. so should please anyone."

"I dine here often and the food is consistently excellent. Service is friendly and manager always checks in to make sure we are pleased with our experience. Restaurant can be a bit loud at times, but not terribly offensive. Some of the waitstaff is young/inexperienced.
I am always pleased with my meals, the service and the value. Will continue to dine at Not Your Average Joe's in Needham."

"Our waitress Katherine was fabulous. She was really helpful with the kids' orders especially. The hostess was totally clueless. We had a reservation at 5pm on a Sunday(and two small children), and they didn't seat us for 10 minutes. During this early time, two other small groups arrived and were told by the hostess that there was a 20 minute wait, even though there were clearly empty tables. Both groups left to eat elsewhere.
My special shrimp, pesto pasta was DELICIOUS, and we always love the focaccia bread. The peanut butter thing dessert is really, really good."

"Glad to have had a booth..it was a weekday night evening, but very crowded and noisy. Have been there several times and especially like the Vietnamese Salmon. The dish was very "soupy" this time with more sauce then usual. This made it less appealing to me than when I've had it in the past. But I like the restaurant and the interesting menu choices."

"the check in hostess station wasn't as good/organized as other restaurants/NYAJ's. however, i did have 6.45 pm reservations, i was about 45 minutes early....and w/in 10 minutes, they were able to accomodate us. so i was happy.

"The hostess was pleasant and seated us promptly. Our waiter was great and nicely attentive throughout our stay. "I had requested a quiet table, and it was given to us, a real treat so that we all could speak and hear each other- no room noise! For 4 of us, we were given a large booth for six, so we were all quite comfortable.
Our service was a little iffy- our server filled our glasses with water, but when she came back never asked about drinks and didn't check on us until we got the attention of another server. Two of us ordered the crabcakes with arugula and we both found them to be salty with an overwhelming spice taste. One of us ordered the daily special soup- cream of mushroom and she enjoyed it thoroughly. We were able to stay at the table for an hour and a half and never felt rushed. I'll give it another try, but won't be running back."

"Vibrant atmosphere. Busy but attentive wait staff. I was glad to see the restaurant had a few organic items on the menu. My salad could have used more greens and less cheese. The sirloin tips were far better than expected. Flavorful and perfectly grilled."

"Greeted by very wonderful hostesses and was waited on immediately by a very friendly and attentive waitress. Food was prepared perfectly. Joes has a great wine list and the peanut butter pie is to die for. It definitely helps to have a reservation as this place is busy!"

"Consistently one of our favorite dining spots. Food has always been very good. One of the best "birthday gifts" any restaurant gives to its customers.

"Lousy treatment by the hostess, who was irritated that we had reserved via OT and she didn't have a table for us. Made us feel like it was our fault and our problem to solve. After a 20 min wait, we were seated. A lot of hassle for a mediocre dining experience. We won't be back."

"Great food as always. Service was pretty slow but it was a busy night so that is understandable. I am a regular and love the food there. I make Combat Rations for the military and am a huge foodie so I appreciate all the good wholesome food with natural ingredients that you make. I truly hate how many restaurants have switched to boil in a bag or advanced food items. I truly hope that Not Your Average Joes does not go down this path. I have to say my past Birthday I never received my Birthday dinner special that I usually get. Is that system still operational?Thanks as always, your loyal cusotmer,Wes"

"We had to wait an extra 35 minutes to be seated for our 6:00 reservation. The 6:15 reservation folks were in the same situation as us. Meanwhile, the restaurant kept an empty table for 13 during all that time despite our requests to be seated. It seemed like very poor planning on their part."
