"The food is wonderful and the service is good, a bit too good. You cant take a sip of water without someone coming to fill your glass. It gets rather annoying. I decided to stop drinking water all together. After a while, the ice melted in my glass, and they promptly replaced it with another."

"From the moment we walked in the everything was terrific. We requested an area to sit when making the reservation which was met and we were sat upon arrival . From that point on nothing could have been better. The wait staff was helpful and friendly but not overbearing. The food was terrific as always.
Having eaten at their other restaurant the night before where none of this happened and we were concerned we would encounter the same poor service where they were stuffy and overbearing.
This was a special anniversary and birthday for our family and we were happy to have what we felt was the perfect evening."

"Great option in the Fairmont hotel, I would recommend it for anyone in the area, not just hotel guest. Really nice night! A little pricey? Maybe. But worth the little extra. I think we got our money's worth. Plus, having a few too many and wondering back to your room is always the way to go vs driving."

"Upon arrival I had looked thru a list of drinks at the hotel bar. There was this amazing drink with white wine and vodka! We then decided to head to the bar at Nick's. We were told after being seated they were separate from the Hotel Fairmont. Alex the head maitre'd , inquired about our status. We explained about the drink I saw upstairs and he left and came back with the ingredients needed and had my drink made there.! This is what amazing service is about! Food was great, they use tag team approach: water never empty, drinks always full. Amazingly we never felt rushed. Thank you for a great evening."

"We were so looking forward to a nice dinner out on our Maui vacation, we loved the food and ambiance, but we were disappointed in the service...took forever, about 30 minutes, for them to come back after we were seated, never brought us bread, they were out of the wine we wanted-and it took 15 minutes for them to let us know and we had 3 different servers throughout the evening, who were clearly not communicating :( Lovely restaurant patio and the food was delicious but the service was so terrible it ruined the experience..."

"Nick's Fish Market was fantastic in every sense of the word. The ambiance was the best part for my husband and me. The restaurant is located in the Fairmont Kei Lani and overlooks the pool and cabanas. You can watch the sun set from your table, which is fabulous.
As one would likely expect with the name of the restaurant, Nick's specialty is fish. There is an abundance of different varieties of fish on the menu, including a few different fresh catches. I had the snapper catch of the day which came in an artichoke/caper sauce with spatzel and my husband had the ahi tuna, which was prepared with an Asian style sauce. We shared the pork pot stickers as an appetizer and had the cheesecake for dessert. All was fabulous."

"The entire restaurant is outside next to an area where there is an event every night. The event area shines huge lights into the dining deck on the client's eyes all night long. All diners were positioned to the wall not the ocean due to this bright light. This happens almost every night. I heard other clients at other restaurants complaining about the light to other waiters. The food is not bad but my special fish was about 3 oz and a hefty $56.00. Not worth it. My husband had the NY strip and he loved it. Excellent cut without much fat. My desert was a banana fosters and I was disappointed that they do not light it up. I will pass on this restaurant next time."

"We dined here on March 24, our last evening in Maui. We had dined here on a trip last year and were looking forward to returning. However, we left rather disappointed with the overall experience. My son and I had delicious appetizers, the seafood sausage and the calamari, but my husband's appetizer, the seafood chowder, was served lukewarm even though it was one of the specials of the day.
After the first course we waited an inordinate amount of time for our main courses, although the waiter was repeatedly checking for them. When they finally arrived, they were lukewarm at best. I had the lobster tail with Mac and cheese. Good lobster, but served on almost cold pasta. Overall, our experience did not live up to expectations."

"I ordered the special (Mahi Mahi) and it came out very undercooked not once but twice, when I first ordered it and when they re-made it for me. Service, food, ambiance, view - none were nearly as good as other restaurants on the island. Then to top it all, there was a gentleman going table to table trying to take pictures of diners for purchase which came across as very tacky and disruptive. I can't believe the hotel or restraint would allow such a nuisance during what was supposed to be a fine dining experience."

"Service was extremely slow. The waitress never brought my seafood bisque and when she did it was too salty. Crab cakes were different, with corn and a spicy twist and were good. The fish was overcooked and rubbery. We had to wait for a long time for the bill. I went here because of the stars this restaurant was given by open table and was disappointed. Went to mamas fish house today and the service, ambiance and the quality of food was way beyond this mediocre restaurant. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. I understand my review is harsh but when you charge $$$$ for the meal, as a paying customer I expect quality and great service every single time."

"Nick's is pretty good as hotel/resort restaurants go. The Service: competent, polite, but distant (unlike our server at KO - the other restaurant at the Kea Lani - John, who was engaging, fun, accommodating, and helpful). The Food: generally good but overworked. Oysters served with Ahi Tartar is like wearing suspenders and a belt...one of them works fije, both together cancel each out. We did have a fine bottle of Melville Viognier and the setting is lovely...it's Maui, how can it not be?"

"This was our 2nd trip back to Nicks and we left feeling a little let down. Our first experience was epic from start to finish however this time they seemed less organized, more rushed and our bill had a few snafus on it that we had to have corrected. However, I would still recommend the restaurant - maybe just not so close to a weekend night when busy with guests."

Everyone in our party was saying this may be the best food they ever had. I had a Marlin dish that was out of this world. We all over ate a little but the wine acted as a pain killer. Awesome view of the sunset. Not cheap but well worth it. This is my third time dining at Nick's and each time is better than the last. This would be great for special events, romantic dinners, or anyone wanting great food in an intimate setting on the ocean."

"The best restaurant we have been too so far. The service was impeccable. I had the seafood sausage that was unbelievable and my wife loved her shrimp. The entree I had was one of the best meals I have ever had - the yellow fin tuna over a Gorgonzola potato pancake. I would tell anyone if they want a fine dining experience, you need to go to Nick's."

"The food was great and the atmosphere excellent. The waiters brought us dessert but never mentioned tea or coffee even though they were on the 4 course meal for Valentine's Day. We had to find a waiter to request tea. The only other problem was that when we made our reservation through OpenTable, nothing was mentioned regarding Valentine's Day being a 4 course $85 per person event. The restaurant did call us 10 days ahead to let us know this and confirm our reservation, however."

Doug asked me some questions and made the perfect suggestions off my responses and we had the perfect night at nicks. The service atmosphere and food are impeccable. "First, it's expensive... save yourself some aggravation if you aren't ready to spend some bucks on fine cooking with an island bent, a wait staff of 4 or 5 people watching over you, and a wonderful open-air setting with a neat view of the Fairmont resort.
