"We had heard so many good things about Nick's that I made my open table reservations early to enjoy a Valentine's Day evening in a romantic setting. I was sent two reminders about my reservation, one said 7PM and the other 7:15PM. Remember, I made our reservation way ahead of our trip to Maui. Unfortunately, when we arrived we were seated in a corner booth behind the very loud bar. There were three couples seated at the bar that were very loud, pre-functioning for a Bon Jovi concert down the beach.
Instead of a romantic evening under the stars with great ambiance, we were an after thought. Only thing that saved the evening was the great food and wonderful service."

"The food was wonderful, the service was terrible. It was Valentine's Day however, it had a frenetic feel to it. Our first waiter couldn't stand still while he was talking to us. The waiters seemed to almost run, not walk from the table. The next waiter, who took our order, was better but the food delivered was not what was ordered. My husband had a cocktail and was never even offered a glass of wine to have with dinner, let alone a wine menu. After our dinner was served (well after our appetizer), he ordered a glass of Pinot Noir, which never arrived. They even came and apologized and said it would be "coming soon". Never came."

"This has been one of the best restaurants we have had the pleasure of dining at - on the island or off. The food was bursting with flavor, the presentation was amazing and the service...well, the best we've encountered on Maui! For after dinner coffees, we requested a coffee that wasn't on the menu and the bartender made it perfectly. Note: We stopped in the lounge for pre-dinner drinks and the bartender (from Canada) was so friendly and welcoming. Definitely will go back! Thank you for such a lovely night."

"We were ripped off. Went for New Year's Eve. On December 29th, weeks after reserving a table, got a call telling me that the New Year's Eve dinner was prix fixe at $135, but would be very special. It was anything but. No alcohol -- not even cheap sparkling wine. Limited menu. Lousy dessert and they charged $4.25 for coffee. This place is pretty but it's off my list."

"Beautiful location within the Fairmont overlooking the pools and ocean. Food is inventive, fresh, and most important, tasty. Staff is greatly attentive without being obtrusive. Here's my "BUT" statement. Even with the location and reputation of the Fairmont franchise I have a hard time justifying $40+ entrees and $16 desserts, especially when they are in need of the business. My waiter told me this time of year they are usually doing 160 covers a night but are down to an average of around 40. I know these sort of properties do not discount and this is a tourist destination but be reasonable. I know the assumption is, "If you can afford to stay here you can afford whatever we charge for a meal". But like "us" be willing to tighten up a bit."

"Nick's was the best restaurant at the Fairmont, although that's not saying much. The food here was good and the value was okay, neither was spectacular. You don't have a view of the ocean, just the pool. The service was weird, we had four servers throughout the evening who used the salt and pepper shakers as some sort of communication device to each other. Very distracting and not very well thought out. I like having one server. Save your money and go to Ferraro's at the Four Seasons for a great evening, or make the drive to Lahaina Grill for some amazing food and service."
