"The "Bad"... I forgot the often written rule: The "Manager's Special" is sometimes food that's reaching an expiration date. That was certainly true of my pan seared cod. And the rice pilaf was simply boiled white rice with pieces of carrot... No flavor at all. The "Good"... My husband's "Rosemary Skewered Scallops with Couscous, etc" was absolutely delicious! Thanks for sharing a few bites, honey. We agree with all of the votes that the bread and flavored oil is fabulous.
Thankfully we made an "Open Table" dinner reservation! We were seated as soon as we gave our names while we noticed quite a few people waiting for tables. The wait staff was very attentive despite the restaurant being crowded. Serving pace was very comfortable."

"We brought our friend to eat at NYAJ in Hyannis who had never been to any of the NYAJ restaurants. We had a really great meal and the service was excellent. I feel strongly that Nicole is the best server in this restaurant and I would always ask and recommend her."

"It's a great restaurant...I have been about 10 times and the food has always been really good...drinks and desserts have all been very good..the best part is the staff the waiters and waitresses have always been super..probably the best ..friendly.. courteous..smiling and just genuinely nice..And the prices for what you get are very reasonable..

"We requested a reservation with Josh (a friend of ours) with a booth. When we arrived, we were seated in a booth but a server named John came to the table and introduced himself. When I suggested that we were supposed to have Josh as a server, John became visibly mad and walked away. When he returned he said the host had made a mistake and demanded that we had to move to another table immediately. I told him we had requested a booth and John told us because we wanted Josh as a server that we couldn't sit at "his table" and we had to move. He was rude and visibly angry. When Josh came over, we told him what happened. Josh was friendly and nice as always and did a great job. John should not be in the hospitality industry at all."

"We had dinner at Not Your Average Joe's in Hyannis for a birthday celebration. We had reservations at 6PM, and found the restaurant moderately busy. We were seated promptly and the server was attentive throughout the meal and wished my wife a Happy Birthday. The food was excellent- I had the jambalaya, which was just spicy enough, and the components of the dish were well prepared with the shrimp just slightly overcooked. My wife is a vegetarian and had the spring rolls appetizer as an entrée. She enjoyed them. Our booth was in an area with families with children, but the dining area wasn't too loud and we were able to converse easily. Our experience is that Joe's has consistently well-prepared food and a nice informal atmosphere."

"We arrived at 8:00 for an 8:00 pm reservation. We arrived and were told it would just be couple of minutes, which being a Saturday night was expected and not an issue. Around 8:15, I checked again and was told that the table was having their dessert and it would be about another 15-20 minutes. I spoke to the manager and explained that this was the very reason we made a reservation, to avoid waiting, 5-10 minutes is not a problem but 30-40 minutes was. The manager responded immediately, we were seated within minutes and also provided a complimentary appetizer for the inconvenience!! Kudos to Not Your Average Joe's for standing by their word, rectifying the issue and making us very happy repeat customers!"

"Always a pleasure going to Not Your Average Joe's. The dipping oil with fresh bread is worth coming back for on its own. The specials seem to be timely especially the $20 bottle of wine specials. The servers and managers are always friendly and eager to make your meal enjoyable. The skewered scallops is one of my favorite meals."

"Since I made reservations in advance I kinda expected a booth or at least a table that was private but we were placed at a table that was apart of a row of small tables right next to an older couple. We could hear their every complaint. And boy were they complainers. They complained through the whole meal about every little thing and it was quite a damper on our Valentine's Day dinner. I wish the tables were further apart so that we could have enjoyed our conversation without feeling like we were being listened to."

"I ordered a NYAJ's side salad and soup. It was VERY disappointing. I coulnd't even finish half the salad it was so bad. I don't know what happened but over the past couple of years but this has gone from being one of my favorite places to dine to intolerable. I was sorry I went out to eat. It was not a good use of my money.
This was no reflection on the server, she was great. It is you product that needs much improvement."
