Carver's Steakhouse - Sheraton Cavalier Saskatoon
Carver’s is located on the main floor of the Sheraton Cavalier Saskatoon. The restaurant is small as it has 13 tables and seats up to 45 people. As a smaller restaurant, reservations are recommended. The dining room feels warm, modern and classic. Carver's is the kind of room where you can be comfortable with or without the tie. The Chef uses only the best ingredients. The featured beef is Canadian AAA Sterling Silver which is minimally aged 28 days. The menu offers classic steakhouse cuts and local dishes like Canadian Lamb,Steelhead Trout, and Free Range Chicken. The restaurant is known for having the best wine list in Saskatchewan. Our Sommelier's philosophy is that "wine is not meant to be complicated; it is meant to be enjoyed, as it is part of the experience". Carver's has an international wine list that features fun, interesting everyday wines to rare and well aged vintage wines. Carver's is authorized Riedel stemware outlet and features all the appropriate stemware.

"Overall, delicious food. This was our second time at Carver's and while my husband tried something different this time (lamb which he said was very good), I stuck with the same choice, short ribs. They were great, and I will continue to order it in the future despite the other appealing choices on the menu. To close, we had the lemon tartlet which didn't disappoint - it was amazing!"

"My wife and I went to Carvers for dinner last weekend. The atmosphere was quiet and intimately lit. The waiter was great and very knowledgable regarding anything on the menu. Our appetizers and dinner were timed well without having to wait too long for anything. We both ordered the beef medallions and they were delicious. Cooked perfectly and came with tasty garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. My only complaint is that the potatoes were warm, but not hot.
Overall a great place to go for a nice date and enjoy some good higher end food. Nothing ground-breaking on the menu, but then again some things need not be messed with."

"This restaurant has everything except good food. The service was friendly, paced very nicely, and they knew the menu well. The atmosphere is also quite nice. But the food just doesn't meet the same standards. The prime rib was pretty good, but the au jus and the french onion soup had an almost tomato taste to them. I suspect a little too much sherry or some acidic element that just didn't get balanced out right. Whatever stock the risotto was cooked down in was WAY too strong, to the point of being pretty much left untouched on the plate.
So, until they get the food squared away.......maybe try somewhere else."

"Went recently to celebrate a family occasion, but have gone to the restaurant several times when staying at the hotel. Delivers what it promises--a solid upscale steakhouse, pricy but as expected. The service this time was flawless--pleasant, charming, well-informed, and flawless in execution, yet unobtrusive. The only thing that drives me buggy about this restaurant is its wine list. They have a very nicely stocked and diverse cellar, but the wine list is so dense and complicated that only the most informed oenophile could gain information from it. None of the wines by the glass are listed (we were told that there are too many on a daily basis to list), and there are no pairing suggestions or sorting by price or region."

"For our 25th Wedding Anniversary we chose Carver's as they are the premier restaurant in Saskatoon and we were not disappointed!! "I believe Carvers strives to be a five star restaurant but we have never had a five star experience. On our last visit on March 9:
- we were not given a wine list when seated. Surprising for a restaurant that boasts of their wine list. Perhaps this would not have been an issue if we didn't wait more than ten minutes for our server to take a drink order. If he was busy, someone else should at least take a drink order
- when serving a classic martini, it should be served in a classic martini glass - not something that looks like a hybrid between a martini and a daiquiri glass.
- servers are a huge part of the restaurant experience. Ours seemed to lack confidence, could barely be heard and offered very little conversation"

"I went to Carver's Steakhouse on a Sunday night for an early Valentine's Day and the service, food, and atmosphere were amazing. The service was absolutely outstanding; best in Saskatoon in my opinion so far. The host knew my name at the time of reservation, was polite, and treated us very well. Our server Erick was top notch, enthusiastic and very accomodating. Compliments to the chef, because the food was excellent and the portion size was worth the price. We were actually full afterwards on an empty stomach, we could barely finish our desert. The restaurant is a little bit small, which isn't a bad thing if you go on a non-peak night (such as a Sunday), but it's cozy. Overall, I'd give it a 9.5/10."

"The service was top notch from the moment we walked in the door and we were asked if we wanted to check our coats to an hour and a half later when we left and were handed our coats by our cordial hostess . Duncan ,our amiable server , is a real pro at his job. His timing was impeccable . We didn't have to wait unreasonably for the cocktails we ordered to arrive and he was very prompt to cheerfully fulfill our requests. Thank you Duncan !The service can make or break a dining experience and the service we received really added to the succesful evening . I recommend Carver's Steakhouse if you want to have a true fine dining experience !"
