The original Spark Woodfire Grill is located in a chic 2-story building just east of Laurel Canyon. The restaurant features a full bar and patio seating. The specialties of the chef include several types of mesquite grilled fish and prime steaks, as well as Spark's famous baby back ribs, Lasagna de Mauro, and thin crust roman style pizza. A private wine room is available for seating to the public as well as for special private events. An extensive wine list is also featured.
"Spark is a small restaurant, reservations a must! Good variety in the menu and all of the dishes prepared well. Decent beer list and a very nice cocktail menu."

"I've been to Spark many times for lunch and the food is always consistently good. The inside dining room gets pretty noisy at lunch time, but the tables are spacious and the food is delicious. They were out of sparkling water and their express machine was broken (?!?) but we made do with club soda and regular brewed coffee."

"We had a party of six on Saturday and, when I arrived (20 minutes early!), our table was already set and ready. We were at a back table in the room so that we wouldn't disburb anyone, which was wonderful. I cannot remember the young man's name who was our server, but he was AMAZING!! We had multiple "customized" orders, and every one of them was met with a smile and a "no problem!" When the food was served, it was absolutely perfect and absolutely delicious. The young men running the valet stand were also quick and courteous. Things could not have been better, and we all look forward to going back again really soon!"

"We had an excellent meal, all the dishes were well-prepared. We requested a table upstairs as it is much quieter and more private up there. Our table was ready as soon as we arrived. The service was also very good and everyone was very friendly. The wine list offers a lot of variety and is fairly priced, as is the food. Definitely will come back to enjoy another great meal!"

"I usually like the food here but the Braised Short Ribs was one of THE saltiest dishes I've ever eaten at a restaurant. I could only eat a few bites. It was disappointing."

"Great Menu and good food, but very noisy. Service was excellent to start, but then as we finished dinner and waited to see dessert menu, time began marching on, but our waiter was too busy to attend to us. We wanted dessert and waited quite a while to order and then receive it. Otherwise, a very good place."

"Love them. Have been going there for years!! They always so wonderfully friendly. Great food , wine and ZERO, nada, zilch attitude. How can this be LA?!
We are very lucky to have found them so many years ago. Also, I should add that because its been around for a while, does not mean it's dusty. The menu changes, but the favorites are always there.
Do make a reservation, though!!"

"Late lunch on a Sunday. Restaurant only about 1/3 full with most people eating brunch. Service was spotty. Had to request water refills. Burger was dry and too salty. BLT sandwich was very tiny. Food was mediocre at best. Would not go back"

"Overall, I had a good experience here with good food, atmosphere and service. Especially enjoyed the lasagna di mauro and 17 spice roasted chicken. Only downside is the limited street parking. Valet parking was $3.50."

"Food was quite good...salads are HUGE, so was glad we decided to split one as an appetizer, and even then, it still provided MORE than enough! Short ribs were delicious, but a bit on the fatty side. We took advantage of the 50% off bottles of wine and enjoyed a lovely Malbec. Overall, it was a nice dinner, though quite loud since we had to sit downstairs (upstairs was closed...it was a Wednesday night). Our server was wonderful - friendly and helpful but not hovering."

"I had a terrible experience! I chose Spark to go to for my birthday dinner with a small group of friends because I wanted to go to a restaurant that served a ribeye steak. I made a reservation on OpenTable about 48hrs in advance. My party and I arrived at Spark at 8PM on the dot for our 8PM reservation. They had my reservation, but no table had actually been reserved. There is no waiting area and it was raining out, so we were all forced to wait right in front of the door. We were given no estimated wait time or explaination as to why a table had not been reserved in advance for my party of 5 ppl. Meanwhile, they seated other parties. In sum: waited over 30min, treated rudely, & they had no ribeye anymore even though it was still on menu."

"Outstanding! Warm, comfortable ambience. Great, friendly staff. Delicious food, especially the trout! Good gourmet hamburger, too. Loved it so much, we went two days in a row, when visiting from out of town."

"Spark is our neighborhood place and we have never had a bad experience here. I will note that we have always requested and dined in the upstairs dining room and perhaps that's the reason we like it so much. The upstairs has a completely different ambiance. While the ground floor seems more casual and noisy, upstairs is like dining in a private, cozy wine cellar or library. The service is always good, the tapenade with french bread and butter is a nice starter and if you bring your own wine the corkage is very reasonable. I can highly recommend Sparks."

"We went to the restaurant for Valenine's Day with some friends. We asked for and sat upstairs, which is much cozier and romantic than downstairs. I was looking forward to Lamb chops, but since they didn't have any I settled for short ribs, which was served with Polenta and which was delicious.
Dinner was very nice and a good value. Spark used its regular menu with some specials. Therefore, the cost of the diner was keep low. It was a pleasant experience. The only thing that would have helped would have been some nice live music and maybe a small Valentines gift for the ladies."

"Very good restaurant that can get noisy when full. I had an excellent sockeye salmon entrée with very nice butternut squash soup to start. My wife has Chicken Milanese which she liked. Very good service. Good for a casual dinner."

"We waited 5 minutes before anyone addressed us when we came in. The room in so small. They saw us. But the hostess was on the phone and everyone else ignored us. The room is VERY small so it's loud and crowded. The food was hit and miss and very expensive. Of the 6 meals, we loved 2 and hated 2. 2 were just okay. The salmon was good (mesquite) and the pasta (had a sausage sauce) was good. The fig/goat cheese pizza and chicken milanese were bad. Very land and boring. The tri tip was fair. We had one other pizza that was fair as well. We ordered 2 desserts as well. The creme brulee was great. The grilled banana split was bad and way to expensive for what was in it. It was mostly whipped cream. I would not recommend the restaurant."
