"We had reservations for 6:45 p.m. on a Friday. The bar was empty and only a couple tables had parties. They seated us right next to a table with two kids and we weren't too thrilled...brought water and bread right away. Then we sat. And sat. And sat. And only the bus boy came around. We asked if we could order drinks and he said he couldn't take drink orders. So we sat awhile longer and no one even came anywhere close to our table. Employees were standing up by the hostess stand but no one ever came. So we gave it about 10 minutes and got up and left. So can't rate the food--the bread was good but we were hoping for an actual dinner and drinks! Never again."

"I like the place because it carried thru on its root from the Los Gatos location. Beer selection is great. Even had Alagash from Protland, Maine, which is astounding. Caesar salad was good but pasta carbornara feel short. Portion looked small too, but was enough. Maybe replating to large bowl would remove this perception. Great creme brulle too! Bread and hand-made olive oil drip were great. I'd go back again because i like the big-person atmosphere and drinks and food are nice."

"We went to this restaurant to see the band that was playing that night. We were wondering how the venue would work when we first got there but it turned out to be a great venue for music and the food and service were fantastic. We didn't sit inside but it looked like the ambiance inside was fun. The bar area was great and allowed us to check all the sports scores that were happening that night. I would highly recommend it."

"I wanted to try this place out because it was part of Silicon Valley Restaurant week and had a special pre-fixed 3 course menu for $30. I made a reservation for Tuesday at 8:30pm. The service is great, they are courteous, clean, won't rush you, friendly, and perfect. The food however, was not that great. The food is dry, shrimp unpeeled, old stringy asparagus. Creme Brulee is good. Ambience was quiet...because it was empty. It was only 8:30pm and it felt like it was closing time, very awkward."

"Better food than we expected and the beer was good (as expected). Fixed price menu for Silicon Valley Restaurant week - appetizer, 8 oz beer, entree, 16 ox beer and desert hard to beat.
We were all happy and very full with leftovers (including a slice of yummy German chocolate cake) for lunch the next day."

"Food and micro-brew selections were good. Great downtown vib. Close to SJSU. The micro-brew selections a little weak. What, no IPA?? Other than that, great place to enjoy a meal and a beer in downtown San Jose..."

"Food menu was lacking in variety and the food itself was rather bland. The place was busy with the sharks game that evening, but the menu used to have more variety in it. The place is now not much more than a burger joint."

Review 11 for Los Gatos Brewing Company - San Jose
"I'm not entirely sure our server had ever worked at a restaurant before. She knew absolutely nothing about the wines BY-THE-GLASS! She would disappear for long periods of time even though the place was relatively quiet. The food was very sub par for an establishment like this. My Caesar salad had brown lettuce and my main course was severely undercooked, then overcooked when they brought it back. I had to apologize to my client for suggesting the place. The original establishment in Los Gatos would never tolerate such an experience."

"This was a great place for my beer-loving husband, picky eater of a 9 year-old, and for me who loves a menu with variety. Perfect pre-Sharks game dinner location with easy walk from the parking garage and to HP Pavilion. Would definitely go back."

"It is REALLY busy and loud on nights that there is a Sharks game. They also serve and turn tables quickly on game nights because people need to get to the 7:30 game."

"Though the kitchen closes @ 10 pm, they called me to confirm my reservation and waited for us as we were running late. It was about 10:20 we placed our order and they were courteous and took our order and got food quickly. Customer service at its best. Many vegetarian choices too in the menu."

"The two of us were seated by a short divider wall. Our waiter chose to speak to us over the wall and not at our table. Not the polite service I expect. He did offer to get another glass of wine for my husband but never offered more hot water to my empty tea cup. Wont be going to the SJ location again."

"Visited on a recent Saturday night, pre-Sharks game. Unfortunately, the menu was abbreviated (not the menu shown on the website); our server indicated this is standard operating procedure on game nights. The salad I ordered was bland. My husband's swordfish special was much better. Okay experience, but will avoid going on game nights in the future."

Review 23 for Los Gatos Brewing Company - San Jose
"I like his location much better than Los Gatos, the bartender Steve is excellent, and very professional and personable. I took clients out to dinner here, and the staff is very upbeat and friendly. The food was very good, I had the gnocchi with tomato and meat sauce, so delicious, I'd order again, and they easily swapped out the spagetti for tagliatelle on the cauliflower dish. All plates were finished by my clients. One thing I just LOVE is the warm soughdough bread with this gorgeous olive oil, cheese, garlic and pesto oil. I'll be back again. Thank you for a nice evening."

Review 26 for Los Gatos Brewing Company - San Jose
"What a disappointment, especially in comparison to the Los Gatos location. Stark contrast; sleepy SJ vs vibrant LG. The only 3 redeeming qualities from our experience were: 1) they validated the parking garage, 2) it was quiet so our group of 6 could talk ("quiet" meaning very few customers were there), and the sea bass entree was excellent. Actually all of us commented on very good food. The negatives? 1) nobody there on a Friday night with 7:00 reservations (seemed odd, should have been busy), 2) the waitress pretty much ignored us (she seemed to spend more time talking with the chefs), 3) compared to the Los Gatos location, the menu was miniature. Very few items to choose from. Will be a long time before I return."

"We thought the atmosphere was nice but the service was so slow. We sat in the bar area for 20 minutes before our table was ready (we had a reservation) ordered drinks and didn't get them until we sat down at our table. It was just kind of a chaotic scene. It's also a really noisy place so it was hard for us to hear each other."

"i miss the old AP Stumps menu. The food is now uninspiring and doesn't taste or look fresh. Today I requested plain olive oil instead of the garlicky stuff they usually serve. I had to ask twice, and when they finally brought it, it was in a barely wiped clean dish that the regular dip had been in. It still tasted of garlic."

"Not a crowded restaurant, given it was a Friday night. Server didn't write our orders down and had to return a few times to ask for reminders; however, he was kind in facilitating our birthday goodies brought from outside."

Review 30 for Los Gatos Brewing Company - San Jose
"When we walked in it was pretty empty, and we were seated by a really angry seeming waitress, she just did not seem happy and she acted that way the entire time she dealt with us, and we are not rude, in fact we are overpolite and very quiet, patient people who are never imposing or demanding. Either way, this place was way overpriced for what it was. I had a burger, bf had fish tacos, and we had between the two of us 3 beers and the bill came out to over $70. Beer was great though, so I guess they are doing their basic job as a brewery."
