"A great place for a pre-concert dinner. Fish specials, of which there were several, all sounded good. I had one of them, and it was indeed superb. A member of our party arrived very late, and the concert was imminent. Our waiter Alex did a great job getting him served and able to enjoy his dinner in time for the concert. Extraordinary service from an intelligent server who truly made us feel welcome and made the proverbial "extra effort"."

"This was our first time here. It was a little hectic when we first arrived as there was a short wait for our table. It seemed like everyone arrived at the same time for their reservation. However the staff was apologetic and kind. The food was excellent. The service was very nice. Our waiter, Francisco, was a true delight. The Specials all sounded very impressive. We will definitely be going back!"

"They honored our reservation and sat us immediately. Waiter was helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Noise level was a little much, but not much they can do about that. Food was good with a nice selection at reasonable prices for this sort of moderately upscale Italian. Corkage was only $15 (a deal these days) so we brought our own wine."

"This restaurant's food and service are consistently top notch! If you like calamari, they specialize in it, with fritti as appetizer, a mildly spicy pasta dish, as well as a tender and scrumptious calamari steak! Also try the mussels (served with fries), a Far Niente specialty. They always have daily specials, with freshest fish. Pastas are all excellent. For dessert, we enjoyed the apple tarte, and the souffle (more like a chocolate molten lava cake, takes 15 minutes). Tiramisu also delicious."

"We loved the restaurant, always do, but for the lunch hour the service is a bit too slow. We weren't able to stay for dessert. A 90 minute lunch is a bit much. Otherwise, food is always wonderful and this is a place to go for a much more leisurely lunch....dinner, no problem."

"Our first time and it certainly will not be our last. Friendly greeting from the host when we arrived and excellent service from our waiter, Alex. Really nice complementory flatbread and cheese to start and the calamari was great - maybe the best we've ever had - and a good size portion. Nice presention of the entrees with the vegetables cooked to perfection. Only complaint, and that is just a matter of taste, was that the chicken picata had a bit too much lemon for my wife's taste. Even though we explained that to Alex, he insisted on comping our calamari appetizer. Also, a nice plus was that they pour a good size portion of their wines by the glass. Good selection of well prepared entrees and lots of specials. Try it!"

"I took my friend here for her birthday. I ordered carpaccio which was sliced thick more like plank bacon than carpaccio, and my friend ordered fish and me the calamari steak for main course. The food was sooooo over salted that it was virtually inedible, and the calamari steak tasted fishy in a bad way; wonder if they cooked it in the same pan as my friend's fish. As mentioned, it was my friends birthday, and they didn't even bring out a desert for us other than an apple tart "WE" ordered. The service was horrible and we drank our coffee before the desert ever got to us, and the timing was bad all the way around. We had to put plates on a round decorative table because they would never take the used plates away. We won't be back."

"My wife and I have been going to Far Niente since it opened in 1987 or so. It is still run by the original owner and many of the employees have been there for decades. It has an old world feel and a fine Italian menu, great homemade pasta, wonderful flat bread, fine bar and good wine list."
