This grand Victorian saloon is on two levels, with four distinctive bars, including an oyster bar, and six dining rooms. Open for dinner til late in the evening, it is the perfect spot before or after a Verizon Center event, movie or the theatre, and is open for lunch and dinner daily, as well as Saturday and Sunday brunch. "I saw on their website they had strawberry shortcake and ordered a light meal to be able to partake. When the dessert cake, I found the biscuit was over baked and I couldn't cut it at all. Thankfully, I was dining with someone who didn't mind me breaking it apart with my fingers. Tasted good, but still disappointing."

"I made reservations for which the restuarant called me twice to confirm. On the day of the reservation I arrived 15minutes early only to have 3 other tables of the same size that were seated without reservations. After a 30 minute wait, I asked to be seated. The host simply gave us a table that was not set for the correct number of people in our party. When I asked for another table that was more appropriate for our size I was told the other tables were for people with reservations. When I explained that I did have a reservation and spoke to the Manager about my experience with the front desk he said they hold 50% of its tables for non-rerservation holders...THEN WHAT IS THE POINT OF MAKING RESERVATIONS?"

"I had hope for a quiet lunch with a friend, however, initially the host sat us in dining room with 5 groups. Each group had 6-10 people -- so,the noise level was way too high. The manager moved us to quieter location, but that caused a disruption in our service. In the end, we weren't sure who was waiting on us, and neither was the Clyde's staff. Not a terrible experience, but certainly, not one of my best."

"My friends and I had dinner there recently while our daughters were next door at the Taylor Swift concert. We were not rushed and enjoyed a nice long dinner and drinks. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Would definitely do it again!!"

"Clyde's Restaurants overall appear to have gone down in service and food. This is the 2nd or 3rd time we have had extremely terrible service at separate Clyde's restaurants. Clyde's is not standing by what they promise customers. They promise good service and good food. You take a chance nowadays if you select Clyde's and with all the good restaurants to choose from, we probably will not be back ever and that is a shame because we are very good customers, from the amount we spend each time and the amount we tip."

"My husband and I arrived in DC in the afternoon when most places had already closed for lunch . I was checking on OpenTable looking purely for a place in proximity to our hotel that would still serve us. Clyde's was that restaurant/bar. We ordered a Caesar salad, seared ahi salad and fried calamari - all of which were superb. The service was swift and friendly. Not minding the sports bar atmosphere, Clyde's did just the trick for us. Reenergized we headed out to explore the capital."

"Our dinner was fabulous! Brought out of town guests before the Capitals hockey game. Service was outstanding with perfect timing on table checks without hovering. We had the Lighthouse Seafood Tower And it was filled with plump oysters and little neck clams- perfectly cooked jumbo shrimp-ample crab legs and a lobster! Very mpressed with the quality and quantity! One guest had a cheeseburger that was perfectly prepared - dessert consisted of hot fudge sundae and brownie sundae! All was well done.....make a reservation and avoid a potential wait - this place is worth it!!!"

"We have gone to Clydes numberous times this year and have always have good service. In fact, sometimes its been so quick we couldn't believe it. When we went there the other night our waiter was AWFUL. Absolutely terrible....we barely saw her and we were in a hurry to leave for the hockey game and she never came to pick up our credit card. We finally left cash and I told the manager on the way out and she didn't seem to care much."

"Place is nice and food is great! Arrived early for our reservation, as our conference got out early. We thought we would see if we could be seated early, no big deal if we couldn't. The first host rolled his eyes and told us to go upstairs, where we met another hostess who also rolled her eyes, then seated us. The server was less than friendly, and came only to check our food. Needless to say, for the money we spent, the staff was rude and uninviting. I was a server for many years and cannot imagine treating guests rudely. Also, the host or hostess (the first person you see when You walk in, who is the first representation of the establishment), rolling their eyes was very inappropriate. Fortunately, the food was good and atmosphere great!"

"I require gluten-free so was disappointed that the chef is not equipped to alter sauces to accommodate. I was told that many of the sauces have soy sauce in them which has gluten, BUT there is gluten-free soy sauce which is easy to access and very good. I don't mind eating sauce-free if I have to but it shouldn't be necessary. The rice and veggies were good. The Hanger Steak was tough to chew. My husband enjoyed his meal. The orange marmalade toasted cake a treat for him. Wish there were gluten-free baked dessert options rather than just ice cream. That is easy to do as well. Washington, D.C. restaurants do a great job to provide gluten-free selections and many of them. Clyde's was the first that I was let down by."

"I was surprised to find that the menu was very similar to that of Old Ebbitt Grill. Not to say the food isn't excellent, as it is. There are tweaks to the main course recipes but it appears many of the appetizers are the same. Again, I only tell you this if you're considering going to both places during a single stay in the area."

"My wife, myself and another couple were seated and ordered cocktails. We waited 25 minutes before receiving them. We then ordered dinner which included salad before the main course. After approximately 15 minutes we all received our salads. Within 3 to 5 minutes we were brought our dinners before all 4 of us were half way through with our salad. The server was told to bring them back after salad. Needless to say, the steak that I had asked to be cooked medium rare was now very well done and included a mustard sauce gravy that I specfically asked to be omitted from my steak. We also were not supplied with bread for the table. We did ask for bread but refused it as it was brought to our table as the four of us were finishing dinner."

"Clyde's is my "go-to" restaurant in DC. When in doubt I go here because I know the food will be delicious and I will receive excellent service. I've been several times and they never disappoint. I love the ambiance and the food is out of this world! It's also a plus that it's next to the Verizon Center, so when I have an event to go to, I go to Clyde's before. Awesome spot!"
