"We booked a table several weeks in advance to insure a good table location. Instead; the hostess would only give us the choice of a table in the very back (with a limited view) or one in the pathway of constant traffic. She refused to accommodate my request for one of the open tables in a better location. So; the premium we paid to have a meal in a scenic setting was wasted.
Adding to this disappointing experience was the 20% gratuity (for mediocre service) that was never disclosed, but added to our bill.
The 'Pascal' designed menu was also very disappointing, and preparation was not up to the standard that we expected after being a loyal patron of Pascal Olhat's other, more memorable restaurants for the past 2 decades."

"Absolutely charming and wonderful. Everything about it was perfect. Beet salad was a highlight. Trout amandine was one of the best I've ever had -- cooked perfectly. Thin apple tart was lovely. The service was excellent. We weren't rushed for a second but they came with everything promptly throughout. Definitely my new favorite lunch spot in Orange County... and that's saying a lot! The restaurant pairs with Sherman Gardens' beautiful location the way a fine cheese pairs with a good red wine."

"A unique place to splurge and enjoy! Second time went here for brunch, but it's been awhile. They cooked our steaks very rare instead of medium rare. we accepted it. But the mandatory 20% tip AND tax on tip was an unpleasant surprise. Total price for brunch deserves good steak! Will always love Sherman Gardens, though."

"The food was delicious, but the main course portions were small. The service was decent at best. Our waitress seemed to have a disinterested attitude. Impatiently read off kids menu after I asked about it. Refilled the orange juice but not the champagne until we asked for it. Reluctantly agreed to take our group (of four) photo at the table. Then we realized that 20% gratuity was automatically added on top of out $35 per person meal, no wonder."

"Cafe Jardin is located inside a gorgeous flower and plant-filled garden setting. The floral display in spring is unbeatable for ambience. We enjoyed our lunch of salmon, crab cake, and beef sandwiches. The menu is reasonably priced and the food tasty though not particularly adventuresome. We stayed quite a long time and the staff were courteous and attentive to the end. There is a $3 per person fee to enter the garden even with a reservation unless you are a garden member."

"We had a very nice experience. We were there on a gorgeous day, and the view of the gardens from our table was just beautiful. The food was excellent, including the desserts. We plan to go there more often now.
