"This newly renovated Keg is modern and upscale for the Keg. Food is consistent quality - what they do, they do well.
Service has been deteriorating lately though and hosting staff often not very willing to accommodate guest requests even if made well ahead when making reservation."

"Fast friendly service, our lunch orders came quickly and our food was delicious. We ordered the steak sandwich and the steak salad and both steak orders were cooked precisely as requested. Our waiter was attentive but didn't "hover" so that our conversation could continue smoothly."

"I had never been to a Keg - I am picky about steaks and cautious about chains - but I had heard good things about the Keg on 4th, so we took a chance for a very special anniversary dinner. The restaurant is as lovely as reputed, and we got great seats. But my wife and I were still astonished at the evening they gave us. The host wished us a happy anniversary, the manager was gracious and attentive all evening, the waiter stopped me from overspending on the poorer wine choice. The restaurant was kind enough to treat us to a lovely bottle of prosecco and our dessert. But the prime rib, with its perfect red wine reduction, was simply the best I've ever had; lean, tender, thick, and perfectly rare."

"We dine here quite often however when we were there for lunch on Tuesday May8 the service was very poor, it was like he forgot about us and I had to send my Steak Sandwich back because it was ice cold. Lunch took way to long."

"The Keg is one of our favorite spots for lunch, it has a great menu with something for everyone. We had 5 people for our lunch. Not too sure why but the service was very dissapointing, maybe because we didn't order any alcohol, but it went down hill fast from there. We waited10 minutes to be able to order then waited 40 minutes after ordering our lunch for it to show up. The food was great, although we would have liked to have dessert and coffee we were out of time. We schedule an extended lunch so we are not pressed for time and 1.5 hrs should be plenty, but not on tuesday."

"We waited an awful long time for our food over the lunch hour. It's completely understandable that lunch time is a very busy time, but our wait for our food was unusually long. On the positive side, our server brought us 2 desserts to celebrate a friend's birthday - very thoughtful!"

"The food is always great and the staff at The Keg take your food allergies seriously. Some of the wait staff need to improve their timing; asking me of the food is okay just as I've put some in my mouth is annoying. The Keg on 4th is my go-to place for dinner. Great food, good prices and quick."

"I made a reservation for 12:45. I arrived at 12:40 and we had to wait until 1:00 to get a table. The reservation was for 4 but in the end two people were unable to make it. At 1:00 we then got seated because there was only 2 of us, otherwise at that point there still wasn't a table for 4. Isn't this the point of a reservation? I think this is totally unacceptable and when people only have a one hour lunch, having to wait when you have a reservation is unacceptable. Lunch was therefore very rushed because we only had 45 minutes to order and eat. Very disappointed."

We had a very enjoyable family evening at this Keg, however one issue of concern was that my son and I both had the 16 ounce Prime Rib, cooked Medium, and it wasn't very good. We found the meat to be very chewy to the point that I think we wouldn't have it again. I don't know what happened, but this has always been excellent in the past.
In any event, my family had a nice evening, the service was excellent and the surroundings were very pleasant.

"Been here too many times to count - always meets or exceeds expectations. Still consider it the best value in downtown Calgary, and appreciate their consistency.
We had no cause to complain on this visit, but in the past, when we have there has been instant satisfaction. This place cares about your experience, which speaks well of it's management and those that they hire.
We always eat steak here and are rarely disappointed. We will return again and again, as long as we cant get a table.
You can't get in and out in an hour, but we never go when time is critical. Keep that in mind when booking."

"We had made a reservation for 7:45pm. Althought the restaurant was somewhat busy, we were the only group waiting for a table. We checked in with the hostess at 7:40, at 8:00 we were told our table was ready. The hostess took our party to our table, only to discover that the table was still being cleaned. Our entire party had to walk, embarrassingly, back thru the crowded restaurant to the waiting area. About 5 minutes later a different male host took us to our table.
Service was ok. Two members of our group were not served the salads they had ordered with their meal until they reminded the server. Another two did not receive steak knives with their dinners. Myself I was not served a cracker and small fork with my crab leg dinner."

"Be careful with 2nd seating reservations during lunch.
Had a 12:45 reservation, wasn't seated till 1:00. Not too big a deal, as service was efficient, but for business lunch downtown, this needs to be addressed and improved.

"It was really a really good meal. We had a bit of confusion with our food when the salads came out with our appetizer, she noticed the look on our faces like "wow that was quick" and thankfully said i'll bring them back after your done your app. I really appreciated that as we didn't want to feel rushed that night. Unfortunately she never did and we realized this when our mains came out without the salad course in betweem. Our server was really nice and brought them in a smaller bowl to go with the main, so we worked it out, but didn't really get to enjoy it."

"I enjoyed a visit to the keg for a special occasion. It was my firt visit. The service was outstanding, but my steak was overcooked. I mentioned this to the waitstaff at the Keg and they were very apologetic, offered to bring me another one, and when I said it wasn't necessary they offered complementary desserts."

"It was my second time at KEG. This time my friend and I decided to try steakes (vs. fish that we had tried during our first visit). Both steaks (NY and grilled sirloin) were perfect, just right done, very juicy and delicious. Our dining experinece was accompanied by KEG's martinis - it was a great choice. I'll be back for steaks, for sure."

"We went to the keg for 2 separate gatherings. One for a bday party and then for a double date. The bday party reservation was for 20 ppl but there was only room for 15 to sit. The service was very unsatisfactory. We then went onto our 2nd event only to have a server that was not very attentive to us. The food at almost every keg has been great but the service was not very good. I've heard this complaint from many people but thought to see for myself. This was disappointing. Won't be coming to this keg again anytime soon."

"Waiter was pleasant and accommodating and very receptive to the special and somewhat eclectic requests of my picky 12 year old.
We go back frequently for family dinners as one of the few places with good options for mom and dad but also an enjoyable dinner for our sons. Keg is very consistent ... you know what you are going to get."

"#1 son was in town from Ontario so it was time for some Alberta beef with the family (If it ain't Alberta, It ain't beef!) Fast, courteous service, excellent food. Baked Brie starter and Billy Miner ice cream to finish with lots of steak in between. I've found that other places tend to be hit and miss for either food or service - The Keg never disappoints it seems.

"Was glad to be able to make a reservation because it's a busy restaurant. However, took 15 min for a glass of wine, half way through the meal to get water, we were given a plate of extra vegetables that we didn't order, had to request butter for the lobster, and when the bill came we were charged for an extra sauce we never ordered and a drink was missing. Besides these issues, the food was good. Didn't stay long because it was hot in there."
