Elizabeth on 37th
Southern hospitality, fine coastal cuisine, and well-chosen wines in a comfortable, elegant 1900 mansion have made Elizabeth on 37th a favorite destination in Savannah for 24 years. Inspired by Chef Elizabeth Terry, Elizabeth on 37th continues to serve a sumptuous combination of traditional and innovative dishes, directed by Chef Kelly Yambor. The wine program and service staff are led by owners Greg and Gary Butch. Elizabeth on 37th is located in the Victorian District. The mansion, built for a cotton broker, is decorated with historic Savannah colors and patterns, fresh flowers, original paintings and ceramics, and is entered through fragrant herb gardens. *For parties larger than 8, please contact the restaurant for availability via phone or email. "Food at Elizabeth's has been of high quality over the many years we have dined there. The wait staff is very well trained, and the owner's presence makes a difference in the smoothness of the dining process. Delicious food, excellent ingredients. As the dining room filled, the noise of a rather large party really amped up, but we were finishing and ready to go. The food choices are varied, and the time until the food arrived was quite good. The old biscuits (baps) are gone, and now replaced with more robust baking powder biscuits. Still good, but I liked the others a little more. We shall continue to return for celebrations and delicious dinners in years to come."

"You know you are in a great restaurant when the owners are working. This not only was a great dinner and dinning experience all the service was right on from the moment we arrived till we left. "This restaurant is located in a historic Savannah home, a few minutes drive from the historic center. It was well worth the drive. The setting is beautiful - and the food and service are better. We had the appetizer special -shrimp on a Parmesan "taco" and their version of mozzarella caprese. For a main course, we had the beef tenderloin and grouper from the menu. All of the plates were an unusual, and delicious blend of flavors - the fish had crushed almonds in a peanut sauce that was flavorful but not overwhelming. The desserts were equally delicious - an angel food based cake with a strawberry - raspberry sauce and an apple-blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream. The service was impeccable. We would highly recommend."

"It has a shabby chic feel and interesting menu with local foods that are prepared and presented with care. It's very pricy and was very busy with parties upstairs and all tables in the dining room full. But the service was friendly and attentive. We didn't care for the drop biscuits in the bread basket and I thought the Parmesan crisp on my appetizer was made earlier, but my snapper entree was excellent. My husband liked his dishes and even dessert. Portions are generous. Excellent restaurant with elegant food and casual atmosphere; men in jeans and only a few in jackets."

"Service was some of the best we have received. The appetizers and entrées were exceptional, BUT do not waste your money on the desserts--the two we tried were pedestrian at best and unenjoyable at worst. The tables are in several different rooms of this 100 year old house. They are beautiful and the tables were set well. Silver ware was continually replaced and updated according to your course and plate being served. Being such an expensive restaurant there were many tables of business people who are considerably louder than my wife and I, but while loud they were not obnoxious."

"Book it early you'll be happy you did. Simply the best Savannah has to offer. The soft shell crabs were in season and prepared to perfection. The sweet pea soup was out of this world. "The service was so horrible that we walked out. This is an expensive restaurant, but we were seated at a table with an air conditioning vent blowing very cold air at our legs. When we asked to change tables, we were told they would cover the vent with a serving tray. When we still asked to change tables. the waitress didn't even bother to reply, so we walked out. Very rude treatment!!!"

"Outstanding Resturant . One of the best we ever attanded. Waite staff was outstanding. Had a total handle of the menus, down to we're the potatoes and tomatoes in Florida came from. One person ordered a salad and the waiter overheard her spouse if she would share. The waiter had the salad divided so each person could have half . Just a tentative waiter without being over bearing. One of the four did not order a appetizer and when the orders came the chief sent out a special plate for the one person that did not order one. Just a very nice touch. The overall service was outstanding and one that other restaurants could learn from. All of our four meals were outstanding that we talked about it for days. "I don't like to write unfavorable reviews but when my wife and I recently took out of town friends for dinner at Elizabeth, we were sorely disappointed. First the good: lovely old house, nice dining area, courteous and professional wait staff. The bad: very limited menu, unjustifiably high prices, so-so food. The ugly: signature biscuits hard as hockey pucks and tasteless. With so many wonderful dining choices in Savannah, I'm astounded anyone would go to Elizabeth.....twice. Instead, try Vic's on the River, 45 Bistro, B. Matthews, Cha Bella, etc. etc."

"Elizabeth's has been a fixture of Savannah for over 20 years, but their menu has one foot in historic Southern cooking & one firmly in today's trends My group enjoyed the Southern Hospitality that starts with hot biscuits (not bread) and extended to amazing homemade sherbert on a meringue and very rich chocolate cake with fabulous coffee at dessert. We dined on soft shell crabs lightly battered & fried as well as fish with an almond crunchy crust. This was perfection. And since they don't blast in music we could converse easily."

"This is now one of my and my husbands favorite restraints in the US!! The service and ambiance was outstanding....they were very understanding and accommodating when we arrived late due transportation issues! We were greeted with an inviting smile and sat immediately. The staff was very knowledgable and helpful in helping us select a perfect wine! The food was unreal...every dish was so perfectly prepared and unlike any other...the presentation was suburb and the staff could not have been nicer or more helpful! We felt like we were personal guests of the chef...the restaurant itself is was a beautiful old mansion...perfectly lite and absolutely charming! We will be making this our go to spot from this day forward...amazing...amazing!!!"

"Delicious, southern-influenced cuisine. Not as romantic as I'd like - the tables are too close together for that, and it is a bit too noisy. Also the dress code of "coat and tie required" is long gone, which takes away the specialness of the dining experience (come on, people! Go to Wendy's if you want to wear jeans and a crummy collarless tee shirt!). Although the house wine list offers six or seven reds and a comparable number of whites and identifies the vintners for each, the prices are almost double the offerings at other popular foodie venues, and there are no bottles offered for under $42 (there are certainly quality wines available for less than that, even including the usual exorbitant corkage fee)."

"We were at Elizabeth's 10 years prior and really enjoyed everything. I had made special arrangements ahead of time for a very special birthday so I was disappointed when they sat us in worse table where in the restaurant where the air vent was situated and told us they can cover it. It took asking twice to move us. No manager approached us or apologized. I found that this just ruined the mood. It took us 45 minutes for us to relax again. I wish we would have kept our first memory."

"I love Elizabeth's, and have been here several times. Every time I go I find that the food is so perfect. The chef really knows how to coordinate flavors. Every time I go I end up having something that isn't too heavy or too light, that is perfect for the season and is cooked perfectly. This time, I got the special softshell blue crabs they had. Needless to say, they where as good as what my mom makes. ;)"

"My fifth trip to Elizabeth's and as always the experience was absolutely fantastic. It is, in my opinion, and many others' as well I wouldn't hesitate to say, the best restaurant in Savannah bar none. If you're looking for a great meal and you're in Savannah you should put this at the top of your list."

"Well, let me start by saying we are very accustomed to dinning at 4 and 5 star restaurants. I was not impressed with Elizabeth's for several reasons. Theism reason was menu choices. They didn't have a steak on the menu of any kind. Secondly the sald was a mixture if greens that was just terrible. I'm not sure what type of dressing was on it but it was the one item I left untouched, as it had a very strong mint taste. I order the salmon for my entree and arrived okay. It was a large portion but again was seasoned differently from any I've ever tasted. It was okay at best. For the reviews I read about this place I was expecting much more. Overall I simply can not recommend this restaurant to others."

"As usual, we were treated well, especially when it became apparent we were there to celebrate our anniversary! We had one special and one entree off the menu. The wine choices were perfect, topped off by a 35 year old muscat with dessert and taste of raspberry cognac."

"Everything was exceptional. The scallops were cooked perfectly, as was the beef tenderloin. The cornbread dressing with the chicken is amazing. All the food was perfectly seasoned. The space is a converted home and has a very nice romantic atmosphere. The service was excellent and the waiters wine recommendation went perfectly with all the dishes."
