Haddingtons
601 W 6th Street Austin, TX 78701
Haddingtons is well-executed rustic American cuisine with a bit of "old world” influence. Hand selected produce from a network of sustainable purveyors is at the core of Haddingtons menu. Come as one or a group to dine on various small plates, entrees and family style menu offerings. The warm and inviting ambiance is balanced by high energy divided amongst several dining sections and rooms each with a distinct personality. An extensive wine list of limited, hand selected gems is supported by highly regarded classic cocktails and craft beers including rotating cask- conditioned ales. Our full menu is offered at two distinct bars serving drinks until 2:00am nightly. Our Saturday and Sunday brunch is a draw for all offering a mix of unique breakfast and more traditional lunch fare.

"Made an 11 am reservation because no earlier times were available. Walked in and restaurant was empty. Very surprised. Food was mediocre. Service wasn't impressive. So many other options, Haddingon's not worth repeating."
"This was our second visit, and it was just as great as our first. Always something amazing on the menu to try. Fantastic drinks and food. Hope to return soon."
"Haddington's always has excellent and inventive food plus well-shaken drinks. Our only complaint is that frequently the level of the music makes conversation difficult in the main dining room."
"Jacob was our server and he was outstanding. Overall, Haddingtons is a great find in downtown Austin. The bar was very fun and vibrant. In the dining room, the mood was lovely, quiet and good for conversation, with art on walls. They had just served the last glass of Malbec, but the sommelier was very knowledgeable about wines and offered an Italian wine, he thought would be a good substitute. He served a generous trial sample, allowed another person dining with us to trade in his pinot for this new wine too (without charge). Our group had delicious scallops, great steak and hamburger, salads, soups and appetizers. All excellent. The food was very good overall."

"The dinner was good and the food was excellent but got a table in the bar instead of the dining room and was a bit too noisy for a romantic dinner. Other than that great spot."
"Unusual menu items were well executed and service attentive, knowledgable and pleasant. Very hip exterior with a modern take a traditional British interior design. The Briskit Hash and the Ricata fritters with espresso dipping glaze are worth a repeat visit. And the tastiest Mimosa I've had in a while."

"They have great baseline menu but always have something that is just a little different to try if you are up for trying something new. The service was great. Chris was professional, knowledgable and friendly.
They have great cocktails, great wine, great food and great service. What more do ya need for a date night?"

"The food is really good, but the overpriced wine list will cause you to pause on whether you are enjoying the experience. My partner and I were shocked that the wine list was so inaccessible to casual drinkers of wine and inexplicably mixed poor quality wines with top quality wines. We paid $46 for a bottle that cost $15 retail. That mark-up would be forgivable if the wine was any good, but it wasn't. There was another wine on the list that retails for about $70 and was marked-up to $96. I understand this wine is really great, so the mark-up is acceptable. This does not make sense. They need to look hard at the wine list so that reviewers like me do not spend the entire review discussing the list rather than the Duck PBJ appetizer!"

"I'd go back to have a drink at the bar. I would probably not go back to have a sit down meal. I enjoyed the vibe but the quality of the food just didn't fully justify the price tag."
"Service from hostess, bartender, and waiting staff was excellent and friendly and helped with drink, appetizer and main course recommendations. Menu is well balanced with something for everything. I had the sirloin steak and it was VERY good. I worry about sirloin because of the toughness, but it was cooked amazingly. Kudos to the chef. My wife had the gnocchi, which was very good. The only thing we didn't like was the pesto. it overwhelmed the gnocchi and just didn't compliment it well (was more grainy than traditional pesto)."

"Great service, delicious food, well rounded menu, but they could go out more on a limb and try some more unusual ingredients (would like to see more seafood options). A bit on the expensive side for the portions, but excellent quality ingredients and presentation."
"Food was excellent. We each ordered something different, and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The steak, the half chicken, hamburger, and osso buco were quite delicious. Desserts were lovely as well. (apple pie and bread pudding) Huge bar scene, which makes it great for drinking and talking with friends, but difficult to enjoy a meal when sitting at a table near the bar. ...lots of overflow from the bar."

"Had a great time. Food was very good, service excellent. Love that they break up the dining areas into different, smaller rooms. It really helps to keep the noise down and makes it easier to enjoy dinner with friends. Fantastic cocktails."
"Went on NYE, didn't eat but the drinks were good. Very busy, service was slow/spotty, BUT at some point the manager (?) brought our table free glasses of champagne I guess as a thank-you for our patience. I'm assuming he was the manager... he was very nice and accommodating."
"Stopped in for a few drinks and the bartender was great. must try the Russisan Mule or the Bloody Marys...perfect. Decided to visit for brunch the next day. The eggs chicken benedict was amazing and I loved the truffle egg pot. My partners egg hash though was not good and we just shared my meal which was plenty."
"As usual, this meal at Haddingtons was wonderful. Went for brunch with my husband and in-laws, ordered a ton of stuff and nibbled on it. Everything was delicious, especially the cheese plate and the egg custard pot with toast. Plus $3 mimosas! The staff is very friendly and we were served our food promptly yet at a relaxed pace. Can't wait to go again!"
"we liked decor and atmosphere - many very tempting menu choices we had flank steak & croquettes - and 1 xtra side of sweet potato hash for my husband (who cycles so eats quite a bit) but even I was left a bit hungry, so maybe could have had one more croquette on the platter - my steak was rather chewy - but I know it's flank steak - was still very flavorful tonic in the gin/tonic was tasty but a bit too flat love Live Oak Hefeweizen! waitress hovered a bit much, maybe only because she wasn't all that busy as business picked up, we noticed music became notably louder to the point we could no longer carry on a conversation without leaning over & yelling at each other was our first time, but we enjoyed it & would definitely go back"
"Haddingtons is a unique dining experience. Their menu is not extensive, but you can tell they focus on delivering great food, much of which is sourced locally. The cocktail menu is fantastic and very different from what you get at most restaurants. The restaurant has an old school vibe, and the historic building adds to this ambiance. The staff is friendly, attentive, and very helpful in recommendations. I highly recommend and look forward to returning."

"A great gastro pub with an ambiance of a beer hall. We found ourselves lucky enough to be seated at a booth with draw curtains, which we eventually drew around the back of our 5th seated at the booth, as there was a table of six nearby loud enough to make this necessary."
