Cabana
'Cabana' is Nashville's introduction to 'New Southern Comfort Cuisine'. The elegantly casual fare is offered in an atmosphere suited with a varying seating styles from booths and couches to private or semi-private cabanas adorned with plush fabrics and separately controlled audio/video. Additionally, Cabana provides patio seating as well as a covered open-air setting, enclosed on both sides by large garage-style doors. Cabana is a casual but trendy spot in Hillsboro Village, nestled between Vanderbilt and Belmont Universities and Music Row, where one will enjoy reasonably priced yet chic foods in an atmosphere of comfort and class.

"We took a group of 6 on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday - and Cabana was a perfect choice. The food was great, the server was friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere was perfect for a celebration. My fried chicken was excellent and others at our table enjoyed small plate selections and the catfish dish. Will definitely return."

"We always enjoy Cabana and this was no exception. The service was excellent, and the wide range of menu options should guarantee you find something you like. The back room was opened up to enjoy the good weather. despite the presence of several large parties the noise levels were not bad. We had a great time."

"A foodies paradise. We had a wonderful spinach and kale salad (wanted to try kale), an appetizer (venison in a pocket) and a small plate (Bison Sliders). Great wine list (some half price) and cocktails galore. It was so much fun. We ate in the open air back section. If you have a group of 8 or more, get one of the "Cabanas". Everything is always delicious and FUN!"

"We thought that the food was great and the service was good. However, I had requested a table with some privacy and was told that there were none available. When we got there, there were some booths that were empty and a few tables along the side that were empty. We were seated at a table in the middle of the room. But the experience was still enjoyable."

"The food was very average. We ordered 2 out of our 4 meals from the daily specials. The ribeye was chewy and had very little flavor. THe grouper was overcooked and served cold. The pasta dish was very average as well. The wine we wanted was sold out and the reccommended red was barely drinkable. The atmosphere is fun and energetic, great for teens. However, the food will not get a return visit from our family."

"We had a party of three; family from out of town, and wanted some time to catch up. We were seated right next to a group of 10 20-something gals. As a former 20-something gal myself, I knew how loud it was apt to get, and asked if we could get another table. They accommodated our request for a more quiet table, which was lovely. The server was very personable and appropriately present; there when we needed her and nearby when we were good on our own. She was honest in her recommendations of what we might or might not want to try. We all got something different; me, pasta. Dad, rib eye. Stepmom, chicken. Everyone was a member of the clean-plate club. We each enjoyed what we ordered, and what we sampled from each others' plates. Great night."

"I thought it was just ok. I had higher expectation for this restaurant actually. The ambiance was pretty good, pretty casual. I just didn't think the table/chairs were up to par. They looked outdated/tacky unfortunately. The food was fine, nothing to write home about. Overall it was a good place, and I probably would go again if in the neighborhood. I wouldn't go out of my way to go to Cabana though.

"We had a very nice time. It was extremely busy the evening we went, but the service was still good and the food was awesome. The only thing we wished could have been changed was that our table was directly beside the wait staff drink station and also where everyone had to walk past to leave. This made it a less than cozy setting. Other than that, we had a great time with great food and drinks."

"I always enjoy Cabana. The food usually tastes great(an exception was the fried pot stickers), but I wish vegetables were more prominent in the dishes. It felt like they were used more as a garnish on the dish. That said, I'll keep coming back for the ambiance and good tasting food! I just feel that like so many other local restaurants, the food could be healthier with very little extra effort."

"Cabana's is a convenient, sit-down, semi-formal restaurant that is geared towards Vanderbilt graduate students and young professionals who live in the area. The best time to go seems to be in the 6 or 7 o'clock hours. After 8 pm, it started to get pretty crowded and noisy with Vanderbilt undergrads, which kind of crowds out the rest of the clientele.
The food was very tasty. I ordered the Bison Sliders (delicious) and a peperroni-sausage pizza. Though the server brought my friend and I the wrong beers initially (we had ordered Sierra Nevada but were brought Yazoo Pale Ales), the service was generally pretty good and the wine exquisite. Prices were also very reasonable.

"Aura and ambiance was congenial. Food was considerably good. I had the local blackened catfish while my date had the spicy shrimp and grits. I found my entree quite satisfying in taste and in amount. Although a matter of preference, my date was expecting her "spicy" meal to have more kick than it did; my dish ended up spicier than hers. Also, for $7 the red velvet cake dessert could have easily been more generously sliced. Admittedly however, it was still very tasty! Great overall experience.
...one last thing, consolidate the menu and all of the additional handouts, promotional pamphlets, etc. We had at least 6 different paper items to sort through at the table. It was a bit much."

"Valentine's dinner was great. Service and wait times were outstandingly short, for a holiday. We had a very good booth, looking back towards Wedgewood Ave. The only minor gripe would be that the music volume was too low; it was Valentine's.. dinner and some slow music..."

"This place is chock full of personality - picture classic French meets Southern/Cajun. The atmosphere is fantastic and Craig, the man in charge, is one of the nicest guys. He works front of house, hosted, bussed tables and made sure to come by and check on us. We've been dining here for years and won't stop any time soon."

Only complaint we had specifically requested a table away from the kitchen but my only view was directly at the kitchen door swinging open and the tables are set up "cabana" style with 2 dining parties seated at the same table so if you do not have a compatible couple next to you this can be very unsettling fortunately our pair left in the midst of our meal but they were very nice
the manager and his assistant were very helpful in getting a cab and most considerate about our early arrival on Valentine's Day
We would definitely go back there were many entrees I wanted to try again"

"We got out of an event and needed a place to grab a late dinner. Made a res on OT & got sat immediatley upon our arrival. There were 6 in our party & they gave us a cabana table. It was awesome. The food was great & they were having a wine sale, which had by far the best prices I've ever seen in a restaurant & the selection was very good. A night with good friends accompanied by fantastic food, drink & service..We'll definitely be back!"
